Vladimir Nabokov's controversial novel Lolita is a vibrant story that has kept society enamored about the taboo relationship between a 12-year-old girl and her stepfather. While the unconventional and frankly disturbing relationship is something that has been discussed since the publication of the book, it is not the focus. Instead, I examine the unintentional effects that Lolita has had on an entire sub-genre of films as well as its hold on the personalities of young girls, an effect that is the complete opposite of Nabokov’s intentions. In the Chef-Driven Contemporary Casual Concepts lab, culinary students were divided into teams to create a restaurant concept. This team of four chose developed The Hottenany, a concept and menu that best represented Lincoln, Nebraska. Students met weekly and to outline the project and delegate tasks. After developing the concept for their menu and logos, the team collaborated with graphic design students. Working as an interdisciplinary team resulted in a richer experience. In correspondence to the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) movement became prominent in the late 1960s. With the progression of DEI, specifically in the hospitality industry, The Loews Hotel Co. partnered with Johnson & Wales University to discuss, research, and improve diversity, equity, and inclusion at Loews. Johnson & Wales University’s drama club, the JWU Players, produces a musical annually. Each production is led entirely by undergraduate students from a variety of the university’s colleges. During the 2021-2022 academic year, the Players produced Bright Star, a bluegrass story about love, loss, and family. Bright Star generated new funds for the club and met several of the objectives set forth by the production team. Once a production team is elected in December, they immediately begin the planning for show weekend. The weekend of performances is slated for mid-April, giving the production team four months to create a show. …

Eight states currently have policies in place that make FAFSA completion mandatory/highly incentivized at some level (Granville, 2022, and Hughes, 2022). Texas, Louisiana, and Illinois were early adopters, and were then followed by Alabama; These four states have shown significant increases in state wide completion rates. Increases in completion were recorded to be as high as 26% in the first year of policy enactment and serve as tests to see what methods encourage students to complete the FAFSA. National data shows that low income and high minority schools can have college enrollment and FAFSA completion rates up to 13 times …

This quantitative study examined the relationships between burnout, spiritual fitness, and organizational commitment in National Guard servicemembers. Recent deployments and chronic stressors have resulted in an emergence of mental health concerns, burnout, and turnover intentions in this population. Research has indicated that elements of spirituality address these concerns and suggest that more spiritual individuals are more resilient, less susceptible to burnout, and find positive meaning in work. This study examined these variables using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach & Jackson, 1981), the Organizational Commitment Scale (Meyer & Allen, 1997), and the SOCOM Spiritual Fitness Scale (Alexander et al., 2020). This qualitative multiple case study explored the perspectives of nonprofits on factors impacting and challenges associated with utilizing revenue diversification and structured spending in midsized nonprofit human service organizations (NHSO) in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The researcher conducted semi-structured one-on-one interviews with eight nonprofit officials in Washington, D.C., to gain insight into their perspectives on revenue and spending strategies. The researcher also used document review to compare and verify the information from the semi-structured interviews and add more nuances to what the interviews provided. The purpose of this quantitative, causal-comparative and predictive correlational design study is to examine how workload, surface acting, work group inclusion, and emotional exhaustion impact African-American and Caucasian American managers in domestic, white-collar roles. This paper will examine factors attributed to exercise adherence, and what relationships exist between motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic), locus of control (internal and external) and adherence. The purpose of this study is to determine what combination of motivation and locus of control is the best predictor of exercise adherence. This research study is an examination of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the marketing and infrastructure of companies within the commercial fashion industry. The aim of this paper is twofold. First, this paper examines the purchasing preferences and behaviors of young adults and whether their opinions on diversity and inclusivity impact it.
