Those same Italians passed their inspiration to English protestants, who in turn brought ideas to the original 13 colonies in what would become the United States.

Mental health is quickly becoming a major policy concern, with recent data reporting increasing and disproportionately worse mental health outcomes, including anxiety, depression, increased substance abuse, and elevated suicidal ideation. One specific population that is especially high risk for these issues is the military community because military conflict, deployment stressors, and combat exposure contribute to the risk of mental health problems.

Humanitarian nongovernmental organizations (HNGOs) face a moment of reckoning brought on by decades of operational complexity and conceptual tensions between self-espoused values and external pressures as social change movements like #MeToo and Black Lives Matter demand organizational accountability. Humanitarian aid is being questioned systematically as most HNGOs continue reconciling with their colonialist origin stories from the Global North. This study explored the use of drama therapy to support the social-emotional experiences of nurse leaders at a mid-sized regional hospital system in the Southeastern United States. At ALA Annual there were a few conversations about teaching and training new acquisitions staff. Many emphasized that learning on the job was one of the best tools, and many of our colleagues have had success with implementing asynchronous instructional materials. Anyone, whether you have a green thumb or not, is welcome to volunteer to maintain the garden and enjoy the fruits (or vegetables) of their labor. Volunteer days will be held the third Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning this Saturday, May 20.

People are encouraged to come outside of those days to harvest and tend to the garden, however. Volunteer days will continue throughout the spring and summer until fall.

Digitization and online public databases have made patent searches a much simpler pursuit in recent years. However, uncovering a pre-digital era patent’s history and context remains challenging. A search for the first patents assigned to Rice University highlighted associated issues. Older patent formats often do not clearly indicate inventor-assignee relationships, and applications and official communications are not available online. To determine how Rice came to own three 1948 patents, extensive archival research was required.
