The Indonesian Capital Market Review

This study investigates the speed of adjustment (SOA) to target leverage for different industry sec- tors in Malaysia. Using the two-step system generalized method of moments for 415 non-financial firms from 2010 to 2021, we found that the SOA for the overall sample is 38.6% and 22.0% for total debt and long-term debt, respectively. Our paper reveals the heterogeneity of SOA based on industry sectors. The industrial sector has the slowest adjustment speed (14.1%), whereas the healthcare in- dustry has the quickest adjustment speed (80.4%) to target leverage. The economic prosperity of any nation relies on its banking sector, which serves as the linchpin of the economy. This paper investigates key bank-specific factors influencing the stability of Islamic banks in Malaysia and Indonesia from 2012 to 2021. Using panel data analysis, the study identifies the fixed effect model as the optimal approach. The subsequent fixed effect regression analysis highlights the significance of the cost-to-income ratio in determining financial stability for both Malaysian and In- donesian Islamic banks. This qualitative study examined the lived experiences of female leaders in the U.S. construction industry. A narrative method and methodology was used incorporating Mezirow’s (1978) transformative learning, Super’s (1957) career development, and Cooperrider et al. 's (2008) appreciative inquiry theories. The primary research question: How do women currently leading at their respective construction firms make meaning of their leadership development experiences? Eight interpretations emerged. Climate change is fundamentally destabilizing the private insurance industry, with many high-profile insurance companies exiting states in the face of catastrophic, climate-­induced risk. This rapid "insurance retreat" represents a major market signal in response to climate-exacerbated risks. Private businesses are making actuarial decisions, assessing that some locations are just too vulnerable to insure. At the same time, this insurance retreat also poses a policy challenge for states as they react to the mounting insurance gaps left by exiting private insurers.

The path to financial compensation for the wrongfully convicted can be complex and time-consuming. Exonerees often struggle to make ends meet and function in free society, let alone navigate serpentine processes while waiting years for the recovery they deserve. Securing the assistance of an attorney is often a critical step, but too few lawyers are willing to risk accepting these complicated cases on a contingency-fee basis—the only way that exoneree-clients can likely pay their lawyers without outside help.

This Article explores the evolution of human capital disclosure—firm-supplied information about various workforce-related matters—as a factor in contemporary corporate governance. Regulatory and nonregulatory developments from recent years have upended longstanding practices and generated extensive new evidence. Most notably, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted a human capital management (“HCM”) disclosure mandate in 2020, which, though long overdue, was criticized from the outset for its modest scope and lax design. The utilitarian purpose of patents is to incentivize inventors to invent and disclose, so it makes sense to incentivize as large and as diverse a group as possible in order to maximize the likely output of innovative activity. This incentive is important in terms of our geopolitical aspirations as a country, but hopefully also because of our democratic commitment to provide opportunities for flourishing and reaching one's potential that are available to all.

In June 2023, the Supreme Court granted the petition for a writ of certiorari in Moore v. United States, ostensibly a challenge to an obscure provision of the 2017 tax legislation. Moore’s real target is the constitutionality of federal wealth and accrual taxation, which policymakers have proposed to combat record inequality and raise revenue for social-welfare reform. At the center of the doctrinal dispute in Moore is a century-old case, Eisner v. Corporate groups comprise parent companies and one or more subsidiaries, which parents use to manage liabilities, transactions, operations, and regulation. Those subsidiaries can also be used to manage criminal accountability when multiple entities within a corporate group share responsibility for a common offense. A parent, for instance, might reach a settlement with prosecutors that requires its subsidiary to plead guilty to a crime, without conviction of the parent itself—a subsidiary-only conviction (SOC). The parent will thus avoid bearing collateral consequences—such as contracting or industry bars—that would follow its own conviction. This study investigated the narrative structures of popular Thai films and introduced an innovative approach to film education through the development of ‘Movie’s Narrative Structure Analyzer’ (MOVSA) mobile application. Through the analysis of shot duration patterns using machine learning techniques, five distinct narrative structures were identified in popular Thai films from 2006 to 2022. This study investigates the role of economic narratives in shaping momentum effects in U.S. equity markets from 1984 to 2017. Utilizing narrative attention measures developed by Bybee et al. (2024), we examine how narrative attention and narrative innovation influence both time-series and cross-sectional momentum returns, after adjusting for Fama-French factors. LARS is employed for variable selection, and rolling-window regressions are used to capture time-varying factor loadings. Through a combination of time-series and panel data analysis, we test hypotheses related to static, persistent, and asymmetric narrative effects, along with firm- and market-level moderators. This study explores the relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and corporate cash holdings among publicly listed firms in the Asia-Pacific region from 2010 to 2023. Grounded in stakeholder theory and the precautionary motive for cash, the analysis examines whether firms with higher ESG performance hold less cash and whether this relationship is moderated by financial constraints and financial distress. Employing panel fixed-effects regression, two-stage least squares (2SLS), and system GMM methods, the results consistently indicate that ESG performance is negatively associated with cash holdings. This research study examines the earnings growth expectations for growth stocks from the perspectives of investors and analysts. Portfolios were categorized based on the earning growth expectations of investors and analysts, with returns measured using the Fama-French Three-Factor Model from 2011 to 2023 in the U.S. stock market. The portfolio returns based on analysts' expectations were significantly positive, indicating that analysts tend to underestimate earnings growth for growth stocks. In contrast, the portfolio returns based on investors' forecasts were close to zero and not statistically significant, implying that investors do not systematically overestimate or underestimate earnings growth expectations for growth …

This study examines the long-term financial effects of intellectual property-related M&As (IP M&As) in China, using ROIC as the main performance metric. Based on a panel of listed firms from 2000–2020, it first applies a DID model to compare IP M&As with regular deals, then extends to a DDD framework to assess directional heterogeneity (North-to-South, South-to-North, intra-regional). Results show IP M&As improve ROIC, especially in North-to-South transactions. บรรจุภัณฑ์ที่ใช้ในการส่งออกเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญที่ส่งผลต่อประสิทธิภาพด้านโลจิสติกส์และต้นทุนรวมขององค์กร โดยเฉพาะในอุตสาหกรรมชิ้นส่วนยานยนต์ที่มีปริมาณการจัดส่งระหว่างประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่อง งานวิจัยฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความคุ้มค่าในการใช้ลังไม้แบบใช้ครั้งเดียวกับลังเหล็กแบบหมุนเวียน โดยพิจารณาทั้งต้นทุนรวมและต้นทุนสิ่งแวดล้อม ผู้วิจัยใช้ข้อมูลย้อนหลัง 36 เดือน (ตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคม ค.ศ. 2021 ถึงเดือนธันวาคม ค.ศ. 2023) จากระบบ ERP ของบริษัทผู้ผลิตชิ้นส่วนรถยนต์แห่งหนึ่ง ซึ่งประกอบด้วยข้อมูลปริมาณการใช้งานลังไม้และลังเหล็กในการส่งออกจริงรายเดือน เพื่อนำมาวิเคราะห์แนวโน้มความต้องการใช้ลังในระยะเวลา 10 ปี (ค.ศ. 2024–2033) ด้วยวิธี Holt-Winters Seasonal Method เพื่อประกอบการวางแผนสต็อกและคำนวณต้นทุนรวมตลอดช่วงอายุการใช้งานของระบบบรรจุภัณฑ์ ต้นทุนที่วิเคราะห์แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ด้านหลัก ได้แก่ ต้นทุนการผลิต เช่น ค่าวัสดุและค่าแรงในการประกอบลังไม้ ต้นทุนการดำเนินงาน เช่น ค่าขนส่งกลับ ค่าจัดเก็บ และค่าบำรุงรักษาสำหรับลังเหล็ก ต้นทุนทางการเงินจากการลงทุนในระบบหมุนเวียน และต้นทุนสิ่งแวดล้อม ซึ่งคำนวณจากปริมาณการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกตลอดวงจรชีวิตของบรรจุภัณฑ์ แล้วแปลงเป็นมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจ ผลการวิเคราะห์ในภาพรวมพบว่า ลังไม้มีต้นทุนการผลิตซ้ำสูงในแต่ละปี ขณะที่ลังเหล็ก แม้จะมีต้นทุนเริ่มต้นและต้นทุนในการจัดการระบบหมุนเวียนที่สูงกว่า แต่สามารถนำกลับมาใช้งานซ้ำได้หลายรอบ ส่งผลให้ต้นทุนรวมลดลงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญผลการวิจัยพบว่า ต้นทุนรวมตลอดระยะเวลา 10 ปีของการใช้ลังไม้มีมูลค่า 169,153,244 บาท ในขณะที่ลังเหล็กมีต้นทุนรวม 108,630,858 บาท ซึ่งสามารถช่วยลดต้นทุนได้มากกว่า 60ล้านบาท แม้ว่าลังเหล็กจะมีต้นทุนสิ่งแวดล้อมสูงกว่าลังไม้ประมาณ 500,000บาท อันเนื่องมาจากกระบวนการผลิตที่ใช้พลังงานมากกว่า แต่เมื่อพิจารณาในภาพรวม ลังเหล็กยังคงเป็นทางเลือกที่คุ้มค่าในระยะยาว โดยเฉพาะในระบบที่มีการบริหารจัดการการหมุนเวียนอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ผลการศึกษานี้มีประโยชน์ในการสนับสนุนการวางแผนเชิงกลยุทธ์ด้านระบบบรรจุภัณฑ์ เพื่อให้สามารถเลือกใช้แนวทางที่เหมาะสมกับเป้าหมายด้านต้นทุนและความยั่งยืนขององค์กรในระยะยาว

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาตัวแบบการพยากรณ์ความต้องการสินค้าและกำหนดนโยบายการจัดการสินค้าคงคลังให้เหมาะสมกับลักษณะของสินค้าในอุตสาหกรรมอาหารสัตว์ของบริษัทกรณีศึกษา โดยบริษัทมีการจัดทำข้อมูลพยากรณ์โดยทีมขายแต่ไม่ได้มีการนำมาใช้ในการวางแผนสั่งซื้อจริง ส่งผลให้เกิดปัญหาการมีสินค้าคงคลังเกินความจำเป็น อีกทั้งยังเสี่ยงต่อการขาดแคลนสินค้าในบางช่วงเวลาในงานวิจัยนี้ ผู้วิจัยได้จำแนกประเภทสินค้าโดยใช้เทคนิค ABC Analysis โดยพิจารณาจากมูลค่าการใช้งานประจำปี และคัดเลือกเฉพาะสินค้ากลุ่ม A และ B จำนวน 4 รายการ ได้แก่ A-001, A-013, B-003 และ B-014 มาทำการศึกษา จากนั้นจึงวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลยอดขายรายเดือนย้อนหลังปี ค.ศ. 2023 เพื่อตรวจสอบรูปแบบของข้อมูล พบว่าสินค้าทั้งหมดไม่แสดงแนวโน้มหรือฤดูกาลที่ชัดเจน ภายหลังจากการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ผู้วิจัยได้ดำเนินการคัดเลือกและเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพของตัวแบบการพยากรณ์ที่เหมาะสมกับลักษณะของข้อมูล โดยใช้ดัชนีความคลาดเคลื่อน MAPE และ sMAPE เป็นเกณฑ์ประเมินผล จากผลการทดสอบพบว่าวิธี ARIMA ให้ค่าความคาดเคลื่อนต่ำที่สุดสำหรับสินค้า A-001, A-013 และ B-003 ในขณะที่วิธีค่าเฉลี่ยเคลื่อนที่แบบ 3 เดือนให้ค่าความคาดเคลื่อนต่ำที่สุดสำหรับสินค้า B-014 โดยทั้ง 4 รายการสินค้าได้ค่า MAPE เฉลี่ยที่ 37.25% และ sMAPE เฉลี่ยที่ 29.21% เมื่อทดสอบกับข้อมูลยอดขายปี ค.ศ. 2024ในด้านการจัดการสินค้าคงคลัง ผู้วิจัยได้นำแนวคิดการสั่งซื้อแบบทบทวนตามช่วงเวลา (Periodic Review Policy) หรือ P-Model เพื่อคำนวณระดับการสั่งซื้อสูงสุด (Order-Up-To Level, OUL) และปริมาณการสั่งซื้อ (Order Quantity) สำหรับสินค้าแต่ละรายการ โดยอิงจากค่าพยากรณ์ความต้องการ ระยะเวลานำเข้า ช่วงเวลาทบทวน และระดับบริการที่ต้องการ ผลการประเมินแผนใหม่ที่นำเสนอพบว่าสามารถลดปริมาณสินค้าคงคลังเฉลี่ยลงได้ในทุกสินค้าทั้ง 4 รายการ โดยปริมาณสินค้าคงคลังเฉลี่ยลดลงทุกสินค้าเฉลี่ยร้อยละ 27.61 ในขณะที่สามารถลดต้นทุนรวมลงได้ 3 ใน 4 รายการ โดยเฉพาะสินค้าที่มีมูลค่าสูงในกลุ่ม A ซึ่งสามารถลดต้นทุนรวมของระบบสินค้าคงคลังได้มากกว่า 25% สำหรับ A-001 ต้นทุนรวมลดลงจาก 1.80 ล้านบาท เหลือ 1.2 ล้านบาท หรือคิดเป็นลดลง 25.49% …
