Reducing sustainment costs, even by a fraction, can create competitive advantages for the system owner. On April 29, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a transformative final rule impacting the regulatory landscape for laboratory-developed tests (LDTs). This new regulation categorizes in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) used as LDTs under the same stringent oversight applied to other medical devices, thereby phasing out the agency’s long-standing policy of enforcement discretion. This paper investigates whether the use of Big Data analytics by firms has a spillover effect on management forecasting behavior. Insights provided by Big Data could potentially improve firms’ ability to forecast earnings (supply channel) and investor demand for earnings information is likely higher for firms engaging in data analytics (demand channel). Using a text-based measure of firms’ commitments to and usage of Big Data analytics, we find that Big Data analytics usage is positively associated with the propensity to issue management earnings forecasts. This study aimed to identify warning thresholds that can guide sellers in achieving reasonable profits while reducing buyer payment costs. Monthly price data from January 2009 to June 2023 and the two-regime threshold regression model were used for an empirical analysis of the asymmetric effects of the changes in household consumption under different pork price fluctuation levels to verify that the changes in household consumption have significant pork price fluctuation thresholds and threshold effects. It was found that as the fluctuation of pork prices approached the threshold, the temporary price-intervention policy (e.g., reference price) effect of adjusting prices diminished. An …

However, as CPAs, we are responsible for ensuring our impacted clients are prepared for the possible gift and estate tax changes on the horizon. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) introduced monumental tax reform affecting the gift and estate tax. The gift and estate tax lifetime exemption allows an individual to gift a certain amount tax-exempt during life or at death. Opportunities to engage in name, image, and likeness (NIL) partnerships have pervaded college athletics on numerous fronts. To contextualize the most important factors contributing to a college athletes’ NIL value, the present study analyzed High-Major basketball players NIL valuations during the 2023-2024 season. In total, data representing 69% of High-Major men’s basketball players (n = 572) and 52% of High-Major women’s basketball players (n = 429) was collected. This study explores the market potential of BioWRAP, a biodegradable sprayable weed suppression product, by assessing the willingness to pay (WTP) among American home gardeners. Traditional plastic mulch offers significant agronomic benefits but poses considerable environmental challenges, making BioWRAP a promising alternative due to its similar benefits and reduced environmental impact. Using a double-bounded contingent valuation method, we analyze the WTP for BioWRAP among different demographic groups and gardening practices. While the previous research has examined antecedents of supervisors’ voice endorsement, it has generally overlooked its effects on voicers’ affective and behavioral reactions, probably because of the underlying assumption that supervisors’ voice endorsement is inherently beneficial and likely to encourage more proactive behaviors in the future. In this research, we offer a theoretical model of the double-edged effects of supervisors’ voice endorsement on voicers’ subsequent personal initiative. How do Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) scores vary when examined under a hedonic-utilitarian lens? The happiness and guilt associated with hedonic (pleasure oriented) products have been shown to increase altruism and prosocial behavior as compared to utilitarian (need oriented) products. Based on this we examine whether Social- and Environmental-pillar scores for firms associated with hedonic products and/or services will be greater than for firms associated with utilitarian products and/or services. This dissertation investigates the influence of incentives on school-age children's participation in school meal programs, aiming to understand the impact of different incentive strategies on student behavior. This research delves into the dynamics of reward structures (team versus individual) and their implications on school-age children's short- and long-term participation in school meal programs. We find that both incentives increase meal participation and that the team incentive is more effective than the individual incentive, especially in the short run. We also find that once the incentive is removed that motivation to do the activity also returns to pre- incentive levels.
