International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Background/Purpose: Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is a specific motor function developmental disorder. Motor performance and motor learning in children with DCD lag behind that of typically developing (TD) children. Research has shown that motor competence (MC) in childhood can predict future physical activity (PA). However, there is controversy about the level of PA in early childhood with DCD, and it is not clear whether MC can predict PA. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the differences between MC and PA of 3-6 year old DCD children and TD children, and to explore the relationship between MC and …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Background/Purpose: Multiple randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have provided substantial support for the positive impact of exercise on the quality of life among individuals with breast cancer. However, there remains a paucity of understanding regarding the optimal exercise interventions within this context. This knowledge gap significantly hinders the capacity of clinical practitioners to accurately recommend suitable exercise regimens for their patients. The aim of this study was to compare and rank the effectiveness of four primary categories of exercise (aerobic, resistance, mind-body, and combined exercise) on improving quality of life in women with breast cancer by network meta-analysis.

Method: Articles published …

A037: The Influence Of Absolute-Speed Training Under Long-Jump In Take-Off Area On Run-Up Performance And Results, Ziyu Fu, Ruijian Ji, Ziyi Liu, Huaichuan Zhang

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Purpose: Recently, the IAAF put forward the idea of changing the long jump to the starting area, and the implementation of this rule will inevitably change the training strategy of the long jump event. Compared with pedal take-off, the speed of running under the take-off zone rule has a greater impact on performance. Therefore, this study adopted the measurement methods of take-off zone and take-off board. The take-off zone was to take the take-off position in the area as the starting point for measuring the long jump distance. Compared with the traditional pedal take-off, the difference in the run-up performance …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Background/Purpose: The acquisition of three-dimensional ground reaction forces (3D-GRF) during running is crucial for monitoring and assessing running performance. However, limitations often arise in collecting 3D-GRF due to equipment and environmental constraints. Inertial sensors are gaining popularity in running applications because of their convenience, broad applicability, and cost-effectiveness. This study aimed to utilize an inertial sensor for gathering kinematic data during running, establish a high-precision neural network model for continuous 3D-GRF estimation, and investigate estimation variances across different body segments.

Method: A total of thirty-three college students (17 male, 16 female) participated in this study. Kinematic and kinetic data were …

A043: Effect Of High-Intensity Interval Training On Lung Function In College Athletics Teaching, Yanzhao Sun 2024 Henan University of Economics and Law

A043: Effect Of High-Intensity Interval Training On Lung Function In College Athletics Teaching, Yanzhao Sun

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Background/Purpose of the study: In recent years, high-intensity interval training (HIT) has been used mainly by elite athletes as a training method, but little attention has been paid by the scientific community to the fact that HIT can be used as an effective training method to enhance aerobic performance indices. Therefore, this study hypothesized that HIT would enhance respiratory muscle strength and expiratory flow compared to endurance training (ET). This study also aimed to characterize the effects of HIT on the pulmonary system in order to increase scientific and athletic attention to the effects of high-intensity interval training on aerobic …

Commencing the day after ICH induction, the mice participated in low-intensity voluntary running, covering 200m daily. Assessments of neurobehavioral deficits, emotional states (including depression and anxiety-like behaviors), and cognitive …

A053: The Immediate Effects Of Cognitively Engaged Physical Activity On Academic Performance Of Children, Ziyu Wang, Liang Hu 2024 Zhejiang University

A053: The Immediate Effects Of Cognitively Engaged Physical Activity On Academic Performance Of Children, Ziyu Wang, Liang Hu

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Background/Purpose: In order to change the status quo of children's low levels of physical activity due to excessive academic pressure, a large number of studies have explored the improvement of children's academic performance through physical activity interventions without increasing the burden of learning. With the depth of the studies, the focus has been shifted from the quantitative (exercise time, intensity, and frequency) to the qualitative (e.g., type of exercise), and the cognitive stimulation hypothesis has proposed that the cognitive engagement during exercise has a better facilitating effect on children's academic performance, but there is no consistent definition of cognitive engagement …
