A138: Association Of “Weekend Warrior” And Other Physical Activity Patterns With Cognition Function In Older Adults, Caifeng Zhao, Shanshan Xu, Liang Hu
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Background/Purpose: WHO guidelines on physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous PA per week for cognitive benefits, but the relative impacts of concentrated vs evenly distributed activity remain unclear. The “Weekend Warrior” (WW) pattern is characterized by achieving the recommended PA levels in one or two sessions. Despite its prevalence, the cognitive benefits of WW pattern are not well-established. More research is required to clarify the associations between PA and cognitive function in WW and other PA patterns (e.g., inactive, regularly active). The aim of this study was to explore the associations …

A002: Developing An Instrument To Measure Perceived Costs In Physical Education, Benzheng Li, Bo Shen
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Background/Purpose: Expectancy-value theorists believe that students' motivation hinges on their beliefs regarding their potential for academic success and the significance they attribute to the task at hand. Cost is typically conceptualized as a subcomponent of value and represents students’ perceptions of what they must give up to succeed or engage in a task. To date, the concept of cost has received scant attention and there has been no established instrument in physical education (PE). This study was designed to develop and validate an instrument to measure perceived costs in PE.
Method: There were two waves of data collection. In wave …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Objective: To explore the relationship between physical activity and social well-being in older adults and the mediating role of social support and self-aging attitudes.
Methods: A physical activity rating scale, social support scale, self-aging attitude questionnaire, and social well-being scale were used to investigate 312 older adults, and structural equation modeling was constructed for analysis.
Results: (1) Physical activity was significantly and positively correlated with social support (r=0.335, p < 0.001) and social well-being (r=0.361, p < 0.001); physical activity was significantly and negatively correlated with self-aging attitudes (r=-0.373, p < 0.001); self-aging attitudes were significantly correlated with social support (r=-0.293, p < 0.001) and social well-being (r=-0.113, p < 0.05) were significantly negatively correlated; social support was significantly positively correlated with social well-being (r=.476, p < 0.001). (2) Structural equation modeling analysis showed that social support and self-aging attitudes mediated the relationship between physical activity and social well-being, respectively, with indirect effect sizes (IEs) = 0.148 and -0.032; and social support and self-aging attitudes had a chain mediation between physical activity and social well-being among older adults, with an IE = -0.02.
Conclusions: Physical activity among older adults not only directly affected social well-being, but also has a significant effect on social well-being through social support and self-aging attitudes. It also indirectly affected …

A017: The Relationship Between Physical Activity And Subjective Well-Being In Undergraduates, Xiang Li, Guoli Zhang
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: The aims of this study were to explore (1) the relationship between physical activity and subjective well-being of undergraduates and (2) the mediating role of emotion regulation self-efficacy and resilience.
Method: Three hundred and one undergraduates were assessed using the physical activity rating scale, regulatory emotion self-efficacy scale, Connor-Davidson resilience scale and subjective well-being scale. SPSS version 25.0 software was used to analyze the data.
Results: (1) Physical activity was significantly associated with emotion regulation self-efficacy (r=0.208, p < 0.05), resilience (r=0.211, p < 0.05) and subjective well-being (r=0.200, p < 0.05). Emotion regulation self-efficacy was significantly associated with resilience (r=0.767, p < 0.05) and subjective well-being (r=0.723, p < 0.05). Resilience was significantly associated with subjective well-being (r=0.734, p < 0.05). (2) Considering emotion regulation self-efficacy and resilience as mediating variables, physical activity did not significantly predict resilience (β=0.022, p > 0.05) and subjective well-being (β=0.027, p > 0.05); however, physical activity could significantly predict emotion regulation self-efficacy (β=0.089, p < 0.05), emotion regulation self-efficacy could significantly predict resilience (β=0.722, p < 0.05) and subjective well-being (β=0.819, p < 0.05), and resilience could significantly predict subjective well-being (β=0.962, p < 0.05). (3) The mediating effect of emotion regulation self-efficacy was significant in the relationship between physical activity and subjective well-being (95%CI [0.035, 0.126]), while the chain mediating effect between emotion regulation self-efficacy and resilience was significant in the relationship between physical activity and subjective well-being (95%CI [0.029, 0.109]).
Conclusion: Emotion regulation …

Introduction: Selective attention is a core component of children and adolescents' intelligence and a source of individual differences. The status of selective attention of children and adolescents in China is not optimistic. In foreign countries, coordinated bilateral movement can help improve children’s and adolescents' attention. The fact that Chinese parents, schools, and society know little about coordinated bilateral movement, teachers in Chinese physical education and health programs almost never intentionally train students in this area.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore whether coordinated bilateral exercise can improve the selective attention levels of Chinese children and adolescents, so …
