Training And Development Of Instructor-Leadership: An Instructional Systems Design Approach, Paul T. Balwant
Journal of Human Services: Training, Research, and Practice
A body of research on instructors’ use of leadership behaviors in higher education teaching, often called instructor-leadership, is gaining momentum. Despite the field’s growth, the practical recommendations emerging from empirical investigations of instructor-leadership remain largely underdeveloped. In particular, the most popular practical implication – training and development of instructor-leadership – is given fleeting attention. In light of this, the present paper aims to provide detailed guidelines on the training and development of instructor-leadership by drawing from both the instructor-leadership and training and development bodies of literature. In so doing, this paper utilizes the instructional systems design approach to provide guidelines …

In this article, we review several frameworks that influenced the creation and redesign of the Mentoring Pathways Program, developed explicitly to address the needs of scholar-practitioners attending a …

Supervision As The Signature Pedagogy For Counseling Leadership, Melissa Luke, Harvey C. Peters
Teaching and Supervision in Counseling
The authors apply the signature pedagogies framework for pedagogical foundations in counselor education put forth by Baltrinic and Wachter Morris (In press) to counseling leadership. Accordingly, we first define counseling leadership and describe the limited literature focused on pedagogical practices related to counseling leadership. Next, we discuss supervision and use the notion of broad and specific features as discussed within Baltrinic and Wachter Morris (In press) to systematically examine whether there is a signature pedagogy for counseling leadership, and purport how supervision of counseling leadership largely fulfills the criteria. Finally, we discuss how supervision of counseling leadership can be utilized …
