Healthcare policies are increasingly calling for diversification of the workforce to meet healthcare needs. Community health workers (CHWs) are understood from the literature to be effective at bridging the gap between patient and healthcare provider, especially for vulnerable populations. Towards A More Effective Leader: Planning For The Next Extension Administrator, Kenneth R. Jones

This study was conducted to assess the level at which state Cooperative Extension systems have strategies in place for administrative leadership changes. The data revealed that institutions have succession plans ranging from those that are very robust to very limited in nature. However, only 50% reported having individuals in key positions necessary to support continuity. In addition, 75% noted that it would take a year or more to replace the current Extension director/administrator if the person left immediately. This article provides insight on the successes and challenges associated with retaining top talent and mentoring potential leaders for advancement.

The goal of this study was to explore possible challenges and obstacles that teachers of Arabic as a foreign language faced when they transitioned to online remote teaching after the Coronavirus outbreak. The study looked into particular issues pertaining to technology use and language assessment issues. The paper further examined AFL teachers' beliefs and opinions of their own competence as teachers and the potential effects on students' language ability in distant classrooms. Due to a nationwide teacher shortage, instructional leaders are utilizing more alternatively certified teachers than in the past, creating a problem for principals (Darling-Hammond & Berry, 2006; Birinci and Amburgey, 2022). Teachers in alternatively certified programs often lack pedagogy due to an absence of educational training, and as a result, principals hire teachers who are inadequately trained for the classroom. The Relationship Between Work-Life Balance, Job Satisfaction, Age, And Gender, Diana Fernandez, Suzanne Lebin

The Journal of Advancing Education Practice

This paper explored the relationship between job satisfaction and the perception of work-life balance using a dataset (n = 856) from The Workplace Equity Survey (Spilka, et al., 2020). We also investigated the perceptions of work-life balance between age groups and gender groups. Chi-square tests revealed significant correlations in perceptions of work-life balance based on sentiments of job satisfaction. ANOVAs were conducted to investigate the perceptions of work-life balance between different age groups and gender groups. Significant differences were observed between different age groups, but not between the different gender groups. Results of the study support the notion that perceptions …

Vocabulary & Academic Success In University Undergraduate Students, Sandra Irvin, Kathryn Guillot Blankenship

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

Thirty- nine students at a four-year university participated in this two-part study. One part investigated the relationship between maternal education and vocabulary while also looking at the relationship between vocabulary and academic success. The second portion looked at the relationship between vocabulary and word learning. Results from the study indicate that vocabulary knowledge is significantly correlated with GPA and students’ ability to learn words in a limited amount of time. Students with higher vocabulary scores earned higher gain scores and GPA. Maternal education was not significantly correlated with PPVT scores, contrary to what prior literature would suggest.

What are some of the reasons for a decrease in retention and what do the leaders do about it? Through the use of virtual simulations (VS) in nursing education, nursing students are exposed to a variety of clinical scenarios that may potentially improve their learning of competencies, increase their self-efficacy, and enhance their future clinical performance. Despite limited quantitative research incorporating evidence-based strategies such as prebriefing and debriefing as part of the VS experience, this educational technology continues to gain popularity. This study aimed to explore and understand the impact of the Graduate Certificate in Workplace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI Graduate Certificate) on master’s and doctoral students’ social empathy (SE) development. The participants in this certificate engaged in several online activities that increased their knowledge of microaggressions, privilege, and unconscious bias while building their social empathy. This certificate provided various tools and skills to its participants so that they might value diversity, look at the world from another’s perspective, and start a dialogue to promote social change.
