Periodization Method Of Physical Exercise For Obese People, Chikih Chikih, Angelica Anggunadi
Jurnal Keolahragaan
During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC, stated that obesity prevalence increased by 52%. In Indonesia, the prevalence of obesity is 21.8%. Obesity triggers an increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines, which induces chronic inflammation both locally and systemically, which can cause health problems, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, metabolite syndrome, and an increased risk of infection. One of the components of obesity management is increasing physical activity. One of the domains of physical activity is exercise. Exercise with the appropriate frequency, duration, intensity, type, and periodization can influence cytokine modulation so that it can reduce …

Assessing Neurobehavioral Deficits And Neuroinflammation Following Rllb In A Transgenic Mouse Model, Aakaash Gosain
Assessing Neurobehavioral Deficits And Neuroinflammation Following Rllb In A Transgenic Mouse Model, Aakaash Gosain
Theses
As global conflicts are escalating, military personnel have long faced the constant threat of explosions, heightening the risk of blast-induced traumatic brain injury (bTBI). The recent increase in war conflicts and combat zones worldwide not only puts the military, service members, and police forces at risk but also innocent civilians who are caught in the crossfire. While moderate to severe bTBIs have been extensively studied, the pathology of repeated low-level blasts (rLLB) remains less understood. This research addresses the gap in knowledge regarding the long-term consequences of rLLB injuries in the neural anatomy. A transgenic mouse model was subjected to …

The Investigation Of The Antimicrobial And Biofilm-Disrupting Properties Of Synthesized Hemibastadin Derivatives, Antonio Harvey, Andrew A. Yeagley
Longwood Senior Thesis Proposal
We want to investigate structural changes to the core hemibastadin structure while attempting to make these derivatives biologically safer. Since these modifications have never been done before, we will need to design a synthesis of these new molecules. Due to the nature of the molecules (dimers), a divergent synthesis that allows for the creation of both halves simultaneously seems most appropriate. A successful synthesis of these compounds will allow us to further investigate these derivatives for their antimicrobial and biofilm-disrupting properties.

This study investigates the prevalence and types of misconceptions among first-year Physics Education students regarding simple electrical circuits using the Simple Electric Circuits Diagnostic Test (SECDT). Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes responses from a sample of 42 students, selected through convenience sampling. The SECDT, a three-tier diagnostic instrument with a reliability of 0.69, identifies student misconceptions by categorizing responses into scientific knowledge, misconceptions, no understanding, and lack of knowledge. The results indicate significant gender differences in the types and prevalence of misconceptions. Male students exhibited a higher percentage of misconceptions (77.5%) compared to female students (62.8%). Notably, …

Conceptual understanding is a crucial area in physics education research, focusing on students’ comprehension of fundamental principles. Force and motion, integral topics within this field, are inherently linked to students’ daily experiences. Numerous studies have identified the persistence of common sense knowledge among students. This research presents a literature review aimed at identifying such consistently held misconceptions. We analyzed 17 papers sourced from Publish or Perish 8, Google Scholar, and Scopus. Our analysis revealed that the concepts of impetus and active force are the most persistent forms of common sense knowledge, influenced by real-life experiences. Additionally, students’ difficulties with kinematics …

The Influence Of Predict, Observe, And Explain (Poe) Learning Accompanied By Formative Assessment On Misconceptions And Mastery Of Students’ Concepts Of Temperature And Heat Material, Ahmad Ilmar, Sentot Kusairi, Khusaini Khusaini
Jurnal Pendidikan Sains
High misconceptions and students’ mastery of concepts that are low enough are detected in temperature and heat material. To overcome this, teachers must apply learning strategies that are able to actively involve students in observation activities, namely the POE learning strategy. However, POE learning is not always easy to apply, students are still weak in communicating the results of their experiments. Therefore, a way is needed that helps students during the learning process to be more confident and not afraid when asked to argue, namely with formative assessment. POE learning accompanied by formative assessment aims to enable students to understand …

In this paper, we examined the degree to which inherent spatial structure in soil properties influences the outcomes of machine learning (ML) approaches to predicting soil spatial variability. We compared the performances of four ML algorithms (support vector machine, artificial neural network, random forest, and random forest for spatial data) against two non-ML algorithms (ordinary least squares regression and spatial filtering regression). None of the ML algorithms produced residuals that had lower mean values or were less autocorrelated over space compared with the non-ML approaches. We recommend the use of random forest when a soil variable of interest is weakly …

Feathers are a waste product of the poultry industry and are considered a major pollutant of the environment. Soil associated with poultry farms is a rich source of indigenous bacteria that are involved in biodegradation of keratin of the feathers of Gallus gallus domesticus. The present study was designed to understand the role of microbes in the degradation of a feather’s keratin and its possible utilization as a bio-protein for plants. In our studies, Keratinolytic activity was high at 37-45 ℃ and at 7.5-9.5 pH. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was identified by 16S rRNA sequencing as the most active keratinolytic strain. …

African lion (Panthera leo) being most attractive but vulnerable exhibit of zoos and safaris; need particular attention to breeding plans. At captive sites, lioness neglects newborns commonly; at that stage, hand rearing is preferred. This study will highlight the best practices for hand-rearing lion cubs, including knowledge of early medical issues along with their treatment during the first 4 months of growth. 34 lions (08Male: 17Females: 9Cubs) were housed on 15 acres during 2019-21 at Safari Zoo Lahore. A total of 04 lionesses were found entirely abandoned to 05 newborns (03 males & 02 females). The hand-rearing period …

Urban parks besides their recreational use can be the potential source of climate mitigation through carbon sequestration. Present study aims to identify the carbon sequestration potential of Safari Park which is by far the largest public park of Karachi established in 1970 covering an area of 0.72 km2. A total of 153 individual trees belonging to 25 species and 14 families were included in the study. Five dominant species with highest Important Value Index (IVI) were Cocos nucifera (14.62 %), Azadirachta indica (14.21 %), Guaiacum officinale (9.93 %), Washington robusta (9.31 %) and Delonix regia (7.11 %). The …

Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development
The developments of the global economy and society impact resources and the environment. This condition requires an alternative to find new, safe, and sustainable energy types. The conversion of cellulose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) has become a significant area of research interest. It has triggered the development of research directions related to biomass and energy because it can be an intermediary source for making polymers, solvents, pharmaceuticals, and biofuels. The primary objective of this study is to give a bibliometric analysis of 1753 reports on the development of research on cellulose conversion to 5-HMF from 1965 to 2021. The data were …

The South China Sea research agenda has increased over the years. However, no scientometric studies have been performed on this topic, which has helped analyze the research on the South China Sea throughout many years. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the global findings of previous research on the South China Sea, development trends, and trending issues surrounding the sea. Literature was extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database, and the CiteSpace software was used to visualize the data analyzed. The survey included 12,755 articles. Overall, the number of publications increased annually. Acta Oceanologica Sinica and the …
