Best Practices For Retaining Public Speaking Students, Kimberly M. Weismann, Shannon B. Vanhorn, Christina G. Paxman

This article draws on existing communication research and praxes to share the best practices for retaining students enrolled in the introductory public speaking course. Among the many important pedagogical practices that communication scholars have documented, this article highlights the value of 10 best practices: instructor use of immediacy and confirmation; instructor inclusion of written prescriptive feedback, peer feedback workshops, low-stakes assignments, applied assignments, and individual speech preparation tools; and instructor participation in out-of-class communication, online office hours, and classroom-connectedness.

“They Don’T Care About You”: First-Year Chinese International Students’ Experiences With Neo-Racism And Othering On A U.S. Campus, Christina W. Yao

This qualitative research study illuminates the experiences affecting first-year Chinese international students in the United States and gives insights as to how these students perceive interpersonal relationships at college. Participants shared reports of neo-racism and othering as negatively affecting their feelings of connection to other members of their collegiate community. Findings and implications from this study indicate a need for better support for first-year Chinese international students in college.

การทำวิจัยเรื่องปัจจัยความสำเร็จในการจัดกิจกรรมขับร้องคาราโอเกะสำหรับผู้สูงอายุไทย มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้ผู้ที่ต้องการจัดกิจกรรมขับร้องคาราโอเกะมีความเข้าใจเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับการจัดกิจกรรมสำหรับผู้สูงอายุ โดยใช้ทฤษฎีการจัดการเรียนรู้สำหรับผู้ใหญ่แอนดราโกจี (Andragogy) และ การออกแบบการเรียนรู้ที่เป็นสากล (Universal Design for Learning) การวิจัยนี้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยเลือกผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญเป็นประชากรผู้สูงอายุ 60 ปีขึ้นไปจากศูนย์พัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุนครนนทบุรี ได้แก่ ผู้บริหาร 1 ท่าน ผู้สอน 5 ท่าน และผู้เรียน 23 ท่าน และชมรมขับร้องประสานเสียงนนทรีคอรัส ได้แก่ ประธานชมรมผู้นำกิจกรรม 1 ท่าน สมาชิกชมรม 11 ท่าน เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยการสัมภาษณ์อย่างเป็นทางการ และไม่เป็นทางการ การสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม และไม่มีส่วนร่วม ตรวจสอบความครบถ้วนของข้อมูลโดยใช้วิธีการตรวจสอบข้อมูลแบบสามเส้า จัดระเบียบข้อมูล สรุปข้อมูล และนำเสนอผลการศึกษาโดยการบรรยาย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ปัจจัยในการจัดกิจกรรมขับร้องคาราโอเกะสำหรับผู้สูงอายุของทั้งสองกลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญที่ประสบความสำเร็จ ได้แก่ 1) ปัจจัยด้านสุขภาวะ ได้แก่ สุขภาวะทางอารมณ์ สุขภาวะทางสังคม สุขภาวะทางร่างกาย ด้านสมองและความจำ 2) ปัจจัยด้านการจัดกิจกรรม ได้แก่ มโนภาพต่อตนเอง จุดประสงค์ของกิจกรรม บรรยากาศของกิจกรรม รูปแบบของกิจกรรม และเจตคติของผู้สอน และผู้สูงอายุ 3) ปัจจัยด้านนโยบายและการบริหาร ด้านนโยบายทั้งสองกลุ่มให้การส่งเสริมด้านกิจกรรม ด้านการบริหารบุคลากร ศูนย์พัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุเทศบาลนครนนทบุรีมีผู้สอนจิตอาสาเป็นผู้สูงอายุ อบรมเจ้าหน้าที่ให้มีความเข้าใจผู้สูงอายุ ให้การดูแลผู้สูงอายุเบื้องต้น ปัญหาด้านงบประมาณที่ไม่เพียงพอแก้ปัญหาร่วมกับครูจิตอาสา ชมรมขับร้องประสานเสียงนนทรีคอรัส สมาคมนิสิตเก่ามหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ในพระบรมราชุปถัมภ์ ไม่มีโยบายการใช้งบประมาณที่ชัดเจน และสมาชิกมีส่วนร่วมไม่เท่าเทียมกัน ปัจจัยดังกล่าวเป็นแนวทางสำหรับผู้จัดกิจกรรมในการทำความเข้าใจถึงผู้สูงอายุเพื่อนำไปใช้ในการจัดกิจกรรมขับร้องคาราโอเกะเพื่อสร้างความสุขและการมีสุขภาวะที่ดีสำหรับผู้สูงอายุ

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1. ศึกษาสภาพการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้เปียโนสำหรับนักเรียนที่มีภาวะออทิซึม 2. นำเสนอแนวทางการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้เปียโนสำหรับนักเรียนที่มีภาวะออทิซึม ใช้ระเบียบวิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยมีกลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลประกอบด้วย 1) ครูผู้สอนเปียโนสำหรับนักเรียนที่มีภาวะออทิซึม จำนวน 5 ท่าน 2) ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิทางด้านดนตรีสำหรับนักเรียนที่มีความต้องการจำเป็นพิเศษ จำนวน 1 ท่าน 3) นักเรียนที่มีภาวะออทิซึมที่เรียนเปียโน จำนวน 5 ท่าน 4) ผู้ปกครองของนักเรียนที่มีภาวะออทิซึมที่ผู้วิจัยได้เก็บข้อมูล จำนวน 5 ท่าน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบสัมภาษณ์ปลายเปิด จำนวน 3 ชุด และแบบสังเกต จำนวน 1 ชุด ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. สภาพการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้เปียโนสำหรับนักเรียนที่มีภาวะออทิซึม ครูผู้สอนส่วนใหญ่ใช้หลักการปรับเปลี่ยนวิธีการเรียนการสอนให้เหมาะสมกับนักเรียนแต่ละคน 2. แนวทางการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้เปียโนสำหรับนักเรียนที่มีภาวะออทิซึม ประกอบด้วย 5 ประเด็น คือ 1) ด้านวัตถุประสงค์ ต้องคำนึงถึงการพัฒนาและเพิ่มพูนองค์ความรู้ทางดนตรี เชื่อมโยงองค์ความรู้ทางดนตรีกับทักษะปฏิบัติเปียโน อีกทั้งส่งเสริมและพัฒนาด้านพัฒนาการ 2) ด้านเนื้อหา แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ ด้านองค์ประกอบดนตรี วรรณคดีดนตรี และทักษะดนตรี 3) ด้านกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอน ครูผู้สอนควรใช้รูปแบบการนำเสนอและวิธีการตอบสนองของนักเรียนที่หลากหลาย มีการปรับระดับการมีส่วนร่วมในชั้นเรียนและปรับเปลี่ยนระยะเวลาการทำงานของนักเรียนตามความเหมาะสม รวมไปถึงครูผู้สอนต้องมีความสามารถในการจัดการชั้นเรียน 4) ด้านสื่อการสอน ครูผู้สอนควรเลือกสื่อการสอนที่มีความหลากหลาย โดยสามารถประยุกต์สิ่งของอุปกรณ์เสริมพัฒนาการและของเล่น อีกทั้งควรเลือกหนังสือจากหลักสูตรที่มีมาตราฐานผ่านการยอมรับจากสถาบันต่าง ๆ ให้เหมาะสมกับความสามารถของนักเรียน 5) ด้านการวัดและการประเมินผล ครูผู้สอนควรวัดและประเมินผลทั้งด้านวิชาการและพัฒนาการของนักเรียนด้วยวิธีการที่หลากหลาย อีกทั้งควรวัดและประเมินผลประสิทธิภาพของการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้เปียโนอยู่เสมอ เพื่อนำมาปรับปรุงและพัฒนาการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้เปียโนให้เหมาะสมต่อไป

Herzberg's dual factor theory and Adams's equity theory were used to explore insurance sales managers' insights into leadership strategies. Books and Buddies is a program run by Spread the Word Nevada (StWN) designed to help students who struggle with reading. As part of the program, students are given pre and post tests which measure comprehension, accuracy, and words correct per minute (WCPM).

A data set was provided that included students' scores on the pre and post test, as well as some general demographic information. Most teachers provide feedback for students daily. Whether it be a word of encouragement or a lengthy written comment in the margin of an essay, feedback is essential in first-year writing courses. This study investigates two distinct types of feedback, audio (a subset of oral feedback) and written (marginal comments and end comments). For this analysis, two instructors produced samples of audio feedback for students in their English 101 class sections (39 students total).
