Yliopistojen rahoitusmallissa tärkeää roolia näyttelevä Julkaisufoorumi (JUFO) on virallisesti tarkoitettu laajempien julkaisumäärien tarkasteluun. On kuitenkin viitteitä siitä, että JUFOa käytetään laajasti myös yksittäisten tutkijoiden arviointiin. Tässä monimenetelmätutkimuksessa tarkastelemme sitä, miten JUFO-tasot vaikuttavat yksilöiden julkaisukanavia koskeviin päätöksiin, sekä sitä, miten tutkijat kokevat JUFOn roolin omassa työssään sekä tiedejulkaisemisessa laajemmin. Aineistonamme on keväällä 2023 toteutettu verkkokysely (N = 276), johon vastasi eri uravaiheiden ja alojen tutkijoita ympäri Suomea. Analysoimme vastaukset sekä määrällisiä (T- ja ANOVA-testit) sekä laadullisia (induktiivinen sisällönanalyysi) menetelmiä käyttäen. Tulosten perusteella JUFO-tasot vaikuttavat merkittävästi tutkijoiden enemmistön (54,9 %) päätöksiin siitä, millä perusteella julkaisukanava valitaan. Tasoilla oli suurempi merkitys tekniikan ja …

We are two women international students from the Global South, situated in Turkey and the U.S. respectively. In this article, we utilized collaborative autoethnography to critically reflect on our intellectual, emotional, linguistic, and cultural growth during a virtual exchange program that we participated in during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this co-exploration, we analyzed our experiences and reflections as participants in a COIL program to consider, more broadly, the evolution and trajectory of virtual mobility in an uneven higher education landscape. Tämä selvitys tarkastelee vaihtoehtoja valtakunnallisen apurahajärjestelmän toteuttamiseksi, ja ehdottaa keinoja, joilla julkinen valta voisi kannustaa kansainvälisiä opiskelijoita jäämään Suomeen valmistumisensa jälkeen. Selvityksen taustalla on hallitusohjelman kirjaukset näiden selvittämisestä ja hallituksen esitys, joka muuttaa EU- ja ETA-maiden ulkopuolisten opiskelijoiden lukuvuosimaksut kustannukset kattaviksi syksyllä 2026.

Suomen nykyiset apurahajärjestelmät ovat korkeakoulukohtaisia ja vaikeaselkoisia ulkomaalaisen opiskelijan näkökulmasta. Esitämme, että apurahoja koskevien tietojen tulisi olla nähtävissä sähköisesti ja ajantasaisesti yhdestä paikasta koulutusohjelmasta riippumatta. Tieto mahdollisesta apurahasta tulisi näkyviin opiskelijalle opiskelijavalinnan pisteytyksen rinnalle jokaista hakukohdetta koskien. Ehdotettu malli ei ota kantaa apurahan määrään tai muihin ehtoihin, vaan säilyttää autonomian korkeakouluilla.

Transnational online education has become an emerging trend in promoting academic collaboration and exchange in higher education during and after the pandemic. Guided by the learning ecology framework, we conducted concurrent mixed methods research by distributing an online survey to Chinese students (N=51) to collect quantitative and qualitative data. This helped us deeply understand their experiences and perceptions of a cross-cultural online learning environment in the United States. We applied multiple regression and thematic analysis to analyze the data. This included looking at principals’ readiness to practice a distributed perspective of leadership, how they practice leadership, the opportunities for teacher leadership, and the relationship between distributed leadership practices and school innovation and improvement. Principals have increasingly adopted distributed leadership, sharing responsibilities with others, in response to COVID-19 (Azorin, Harris, & Jones, 2020). This dissertation consists of three papers aimed at varied ways to increase physical activity for youth. The first paper reviews research on hyper-parenting and its effects on physical activity. The systematic literature review revealed that little is known about hyper-parenting effects on physical activity, but limited evidence suggests a negative relationship between the two variables.

The second manuscript examines parents’ perceptions of physical activity and its effect on their children’s academics. Results showed some minor differences between ethnic groups and those whose children are more active. Although parents tended to agree that physical activity was important, most did not seem …

This report shares the findings from an action research project conducted on behalf of Global Partnership for Education’s (GPE) Education Out Loud (EOL) programme by the Management for Development Foundation (MDF) and the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) Consortium, in its capacity as global learning partner (GLP). The project involved working directly with three organisations (grantees) in receipts of EOL funds, across five GPE countries. Children living in remote rural parts of Ghana experience inequality in basic education, in terms of both access and outcomes. This issue is particularly acute in the north of the country and for girls. For example, 30 percent of children in the north have no school nearby and 20 percent will never enroll. Furthermore, transparency and accountability within Ghana’s education system is weak. The education system in Bangladesh has undergone significant change since the country’s independence from Pakistan in 1971. In 1973 the community-sponsored school system, in which communities felt a moral obligation to take an active role in schools, was transformed into a centralised national system. This caused a shift in the sense of ownership of the education system and a disconnect between community and school. Background/Objectives: Child problem behaviors have been linked to immediate and long-term negative outcomes. Research has found that family and peer social capital have a strong influence on child behavioral outcomes. However, most research about social capital and child behavior problems has been conducted in Western contexts. Social capital may influence child behavior problems differently in non-Western sociocultural environments due to different family and peer dynamics.
