Handgrip peak force and rate of force development (RFD) measurements have been shown to be effective parameters at characterizing the strength capacities of numerous muscle groups, including those of the lower extremities. However, the reliability of these measurements and their relationship with vertical jump (VJ) peak power remains uncertain. PURPOSE: Healthy people with a family history (FH+) of type 2 diabetes (T2D) display impaired metabolic and microvascular function prior to glucose intolerance, and are at greater risk for developing T2D. While mechanisms to explain this disparity are lacking, it is possible that intestinal permeability plays a role, as it is also linked with insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, and chronic inflammation. The standard protocol to assess hydration status is by measuring body mass in the early morning without controlling fluid intake. However, obtaining first-morning body mass is not necessarily feasible for many situations, for example, most physical activities take place in the afternoon. Test anxiety is a specific type of state anxiety when a person experiences perceived pressure to excel on a test. Additionally, athletes with early morning athletic practice often omit breakfast and arrive in a fasted state. It is unclear how fasting impacts performance in softball players. CASE HISTORY: During preseason, a 35-year-old wrestler complained of pain in his lower back concurrently with a tingling sensation in the left thigh and buttocks. PHYSICAL EXAM: The wrestler was examined by a physical therapist (PT) and, while discussing prior medical history, the athlete mentioned a previous diagnosis of a mild herniated disk (Grade 1). Upon clinical examination, the athlete demonstrated a full range of motion with some discomfort in passive hip extension. An action plan designed to combat the fentanyl epidemic, I plan to educate others on the dangers of fentanyl by sharing and debunking common misconceptions and research online in a digestible format. To do so, I plan to create a website and Instagram account that has a global outreach to educate others and alleviate the stigma around substance use and death by fentanyl poisoning. Furthermore, the project is to spread awareness of current efforts and resources in specific areas in South Central PA, such as Adams County, Franklin, and Cumberland Counties.

Black women’s body image is influenced by several factors but when women have breast cancer, a “new normal” extends from diagnosis to long after reconstruction. This pilot study examines Black women’s breast cancer experience beginning with social networks, diagnosis, health care, the medical community, and breast reconstruction, ending with PTSD and Post Traumatic Growth (PTG). A convenience sample was surveyed and a qualitative research methodology was utilized to analyze responses from Black female breast cancer survivors. This study aimed at exploring a relation between the mood state and physical activity (PA) among the Zang and Han university students during the COVID-19. 2382 university students in Shaanxi, Tibet, Hubei and Guizhou were recruited using a convenient sampling method to participate in this study. Independent samples t-test and ANOVA were used to compare the differences of the mood state of the college students by gender, grade, and ethnicity respectively. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder characterized by repeated episodes of apnea and hypopnea during sleep. Snoring and daytime sleepiness are the most common manifestations of OSA. Patients with OSA are considered to have poor cardiopulmonary function. Exercise has been proposed as a treatment for OSA that could lower apnea hypopnea indices (AHI) and improve sleep quality. To investigate the independent and combined associations of physical activity and sedentary time on sleep quality among Chinese PE-majored and non-PE-majored college students. Participants were Chinese college students (N = 2347, Mage = 20 years, 24.6% students majoring in PE). All participants completed three questionnaires: the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form, and the Questionnaire on Adolescent Sedentary Behavior. Questionnaires were evaluated to ascertain the subjects’ sleep quality, physical activity level, and sedentary time. Analyses were conducted with a multivariate logistic regression model.
