Impact Of Simulation On Project Management Knowledge, Self-Efficacy, And Student Perceptions: An Action Research Study With Non-Traditional Undergraduate Students In A Project Management Capstone Course, Deborah Marindin

Theses and Dissertations

This study investigated the effectiveness of a project management simulation in enhancing non-traditional undergraduate students' project management knowledge, self-efficacy, and perceptions in a project management capstone course. The simulation tool, SimulTrain®, provided an authentic, real-world context to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Utilizing mixed-methods action research, the study comprehensively evaluated the simulation’s impact on students’ learning. The research was guided by three questions: (1) How does a simulation activity affect non-traditional students’ project management knowledge in a capstone course? (2) To what extent does the simulation impact their self-efficacy? (3) What are students’ perceptions of learning …

Fazio, Wendy Wallberg, Saidi Porta, Gary Solomon, Mary Smith, Kristen Migliano, Karima Lanfranco, Lianfen Qian, David G. Wolf

Faculty and Staff Publications & Presentations

This qualitative case study investigates faculty perspectives on artificial intelligence (AI) integration within a private university context, examining pedagogical, administrative, and ethical implications. Data collected through semi-structured interviews with faculty across four disciplines revealed ambivalent yet cautiously optimistic attitudes. Participants acknowledged AI’s potential to enhance personalized learning and reduce bureaucratic burdens through automation. However, three critical barriers emerged: (1) insufficient institutional technological infrastructure, (2) lack of systematic faculty training programs, and (3) unresolved ethical dilemmas surrounding data privacy, algorithmic bias, and academic integrity. Notably, while faculty welcomed AI as a supplemental tool, they unanimously emphasized the irreplaceable role of human …

Aligning Models Of Competency-Based Education With Skills For The Future, Teresa M. Ober, Lei Liu, David Nitkin, Ou Lydia Liu

Chinese/English Journal of Educational Measurement and Evaluation | 教育测量与评估双语期刊

Essential competencies such as collaboration and critical thinking, integral to long-term success, have been notably absent from traditional curricula, as the current instructional materials largely focus on disciplinary domains. Previous research, as highlighted by Liu, Kell, Ling et al. (2023), established a compelling link between these competencies and success across educational, occupational, civic, and health and wellbeing outcomes. The Skills for the Future, a joint initiative by ETS and Carnegie Foundation, presents a comprehensive approach to transform skills identification, demonstration, and verification. The initiative aims to create an ecosystem for skills consisting of a skills framework, assessment, extraction, and insight, …

Cybersecurity And Education: Terminology Defined And Contextualized For Educational Practitioners, Z.W. Taylor, Bryson Byrd, Joshua Childs

Essays in Education

Schools have never processed, stored, and protected more student, faculty, staff, and stakeholder data, leading to a rise in big data analytics in the field of education. However, along with implications for data use and governance, there are practical implications of the cybersecurity of that data, including whether educational organizations possess equitable human, financial, and technological resources to ensure the cybersecurity of their websites, through which countless transfers of data occur every second. As a result, this strategic brief distills the NIST Computer Security Resource Center glossary from 9,787 terms (NIST, 2024a) to the 17 most critical terms for educational …

Fostering Vocabulary Enhancement Through Quizizz: A Perspective On Digital Gamification, Joseph Decena Dayag 2025 Sultan Qaboos University, Seeb, Oman

Fostering Vocabulary Enhancement Through Quizizz: A Perspective On Digital Gamification, Joseph Decena Dayag

Journal of English and Applied Linguistics

As interactive gamified platforms increasingly shape the current academic landscape, this perspective paper critically examines Quizizz’s contribution to English language learners’ vocabulary development. Drawing on Self-Determination Theory and Krashen’s Affective Filter Hypothesis, it analyzes how game elements—such as immediate feedback, point-based competition, and accessible design—satisfy learners' psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness, enhancing intrinsic motivation and reducing anxiety. Synthesizing insights from recent empirical studies and pedagogical practice, the paper demonstrates that Quizizz promotes both learner engagement and vocabulary retention. It also identifies gaps in the literature regarding cognitive depth, emotional engagement, and the sustainability of vocabulary gains. The discussion …
