Video can be a powerful tool, with a long history of use in teacher education. Despite the increased popularity of using video in teacher education over the years, questions remain about effective ways to create and use video in online video-based instructional modules. Given this, in this paper we describe some lessons learned creating videos for online video-based instructional modules for secondary mathematics teacher candidates, as a part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) IUSE program (Award No. 1726543) funded project. Current Issues in Middle Level Education

Field experience is the culminating experience for pre-service teacher training. As COVID-19 closed schools across the country, pre-service teachers’ field experiences were disrupted. This case study examines how a student teacher, a team of mentor teachers, and a university supervisor at a regional public university adapted to remote learning. The findings suggest that there were gains and losses in terms of the pre-service teachers’ ability to develop essential skills; classroom management skills suffered while formative assessment practices, innovative lesson delivery, and reflection on instruction were enhanced. Community and connectedness are important concepts in online higher education. However, researchers debate how they are defined, operationalized, or enacted in practice. A scoping study was conducted to review the research literature on the extent, range, and nature of research in community and connectedness in online higher education. A total of 66 studies published from 2001 through 2018 were identified for review. The Effect Of Using Web Quests And Learning Platforms For Teaching Mathematics On Developing The Mathematical Power Among Eighth Grade Students, Dr. Mofeed Ahmad Abumosa, Dr. Jafar Awad Saleh

International Journal for Research in Education

The study aimed to identify the effect of using web-quests and learning platforms to develop mathematical power among eighth-grade students. The study adopted the semi-experimental approach. A ninety-eight graders in the second semester 2018-2019 participated in this study. Participants were randomly distributed into three groups. The first group represented the first experimental group (web-quests), the second group represented the second experimental group (learning platforms), and the last group represented the control group (traditional). An achievement for mathematical power test was developed. The results showed statistical differences at (p < 0.05) among the average scores of the three study groups. Results showed that the second experimental group (learning platforms) was better than other groups. Moreover, the first experimental group (web-quests) was better than the third one (traditional). Recommendations to adopt learning platforms in teaching mathematics may help in developing mathematical power.

As a result of COVID-19 the physical therapy profession has required increased use of technology to manage patients and clients Telerehabilitation has allowed PTs to provide cost-effective services to patients and clients at a distance. This article describes an effort to create a series of interactive virtual activities related to the cervical spine and upper extremities for novice students enrolled in the Applied Anatomy course (see example below). It also explores important considerations for educators when utilizing technology to teach physical therapy telemedicine skills.

This study investigated the implementation of a south Texas public school district’s 1:1 technology initiative to determine the impact on 10th grade English Language Arts student achievement. A mixed method approach was used for this exploratory case study. Multicase sampling was implemented to identify participants. Qualitative data were collected through virtual video conference interviews and analyzed to reflect five emerging themes: lack of quality professional development, teacher efficacy, leadership attitudes toward the initiative, misconceptions about student attitudes and technology skillset, and lack of communication between district administration campus stakeholders.
