This paper describes a large, multi-institutional revalidation study conducted in the academic year 2015-16. Six hundred and ninetytwo students participated in this study, from 11 institutions (ten institutions in Ireland and one in Denmark). The primary goal was to validate and further develop an existing computational prediction model called Predict Student Success (PreSS). In doing so, this study addressed a call from the 2015 ITiCSE working group (the second "Grand Challenge"), to "systematically analyse and verify previous studies using data from multiple contexts to tease out tacit factors that contribute to previously observed outcomes". Rather than look at achievement just in our own courses, institutional outcome-measures assessment requires collective faculty engagement and critical thinking about our students’ overall acquisition of the skills, knowledge, and qualities that ensure they graduate with the competencies necessary to begin life as professionals. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate and evaluate best practices in a co-teaching setting between two licensed educators, one being the content teacher and the other an English Language Learner (ELL) specialist. The focus is on mainstream classrooms that are not sheltered; in this setting English language learners (ELLs) are able to remain in the classroom with their non-ELL peers while receiving equitable content instruction directly from a credentialed content specialist with differentiation and accommodation provided by the ELL specialist. The time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) is a fundamental law in understanding the states of many microscopic systems. Such systems occur in nearly all branches of physics and engineering, including high-energy physics, solid-state physics, and semiconductor engineering, just to name a few. A robust and efficient algorithm to solve this equation would be highly sought-after in these respective fields. This study utilizes the well-known method for solving the TDSE, the finite difference method (FDM), but with an important modification to conserve flux and analyze the 1-D case given well-known potentials. Blended Learning And Second Language Acquisition In The Classroom, Victoria R. Hamilton

This review investigates using a blended learning environment within a second language setting. The literature review presented three main themes to be considered as these two contexts were united: learner engagement in differing environments and with different activities, learner perceptions, and the outcomes found from such combinations. Twenty-eight peer-reviewed journal articles were analyzed. It is found that blended environments seem to add novelty and increase motivation and engagement of students in these settings. However, the pedagogical implementation of active learning such as collaboration, providing feedback, and using activities that have a communicative purpose seems to yield the best results.
