Exploring The Lived Experiences Of Of Teacher Mentors While Working With New And Experienced Teachers In The Public School Setting In Southeast Tennessee, Vandy S. Watt

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of teacher mentors working with new and experienced teachers in the public-school setting in southeast Tennessee. The theory guiding this study is Burns’ (1978) transformational leadership theory as it drives and influences the mentoring experiences of the individuals and the impact on the mentor and mentee. The central question was how do teacher mentors describe their experiences serving as mentors? To address this question, the study utilized 12 participants that had served as mentors in the secondary setting within the last three years. Participants were required to …

This researcher aimed to understand the efficacy of Christian-based actions through mentorship programs that intend to address social deficits. From a theological and theoretical context, this research literature review and observations focused on the practical Christian-based approaches to mentorship that provided a model to improve the lives of a specific demographic of Black males considered high-risk and vulnerable. The target group was raised in single-parent homes and attended …

From Food Desert To Food Security: Implementing Change Through The Augusta Dream Center, Marté Antione Gifford 2025 Liberty University

From Food Desert To Food Security: Implementing Change Through The Augusta Dream Center, Marté Antione Gifford

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this project is to design and implement a community garden, supplemented by local farmer partnerships, at the Augusta Dream Center (ADC) to address food insecurity in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) by providing fresh produce, fostering nutrition education, and promoting long-term health equity. This project is driven by the urgent need to reduce health disparities that result from limited access to healthy foods, particularly the elevated risks of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease in low-income and minority communities. The CSRA faces unique challenges as it contains both food deserts, where healthy food options are scarce, and …

Exploring The Influence Of Servant Leadership Style On Staff Retention In The Early Childhood Education Industry: A Transcendental Phenomenology, Stacey Andrews Pipkins

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to discover whether the servant leadership style, which emphasizes supporting the needs of followers, could enhance the support of early childhood education (ECE) teachers and raise retention rates in the central Arkansas area. The theory guiding this study was Robert Greenleaf’s servant leadership theory, as it is best known for supporting the needs of followers. A review of relevant literature has found that ECE teachers are leaving the industry due to heavy workloads and a lack of support from leadership. The aim of this study was to investigate how the leadership style …

Exploring The Transformational Leadership Program That Enhances Students’ Academic Achievement At A Public High School In California In 2023–2024: An Instrumental Case Study, Raouf Fouad Srafen

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this qualitative, single instrumental case study was to explore the transformational leadership program that enhances students' academic achievement (grades 9–12) at a public high school, the Institute of Future Leaders (IFL), in California, in the academic year of 2023–2024. The theory guiding this study is transformational leadership theory because it is based on the relationship between the leader and follower, with a focus on inspiring and encouraging. The Rhetorical Function Of Writing Center Employee Handbooks, Talisha Haltiwanger Morrison 2025 University of Oklahoma Norman Campus

The Rhetorical Function Of Writing Center Employee Handbooks, Talisha Haltiwanger Morrison

The Writing Center Journal

In his award-winning book, Around the Texts of Writing Centers, R. Mark Hall (2017) asserts the importance of everyday writing center texts, claiming that these documents “both enact and forward writing center scholarship” (p. 3). It is Hall’s position that such “everyday” documents are essential to understanding the work of writing centers, but that their very ubiquity leads writing center scholars and administrators to ignore them or take their functions for granted. In this study, I take up Hall’s call for more scholarly attention to everyday writing center texts through a thematic rhetorical analysis of nine writing center employee …

School Leaders And Strategies To Address Teacher Shortages In A Rural School District, Phaniki Antwanette Jenkins 2025 Walden University

School Leaders And Strategies To Address Teacher Shortages In A Rural School District, Phaniki Antwanette Jenkins

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The problem addressed was that education administrators struggle to reduce teacher shortages in rural public school districts in the Southeastern United States. Grounded in transformational leadership theory, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was three-fold: to understand what experiences education administrators had concerning teacher shortages, what practices they used to address shortages, and what strategies they deemed most helpful. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 10 state-certified administrators with at least 3 years’ experience in their role in one rural public school district in the Southeastern United States. Open and axial coding were used to support thematic analysis. Administrative experiences …

Reimagining Civic Education In The United States: Integrating Research, Policy, And Practice For Democratic Renewal, Delante Clark 2025 University of Central Florida

Reimagining Civic Education In The United States: Integrating Research, Policy, And Practice For Democratic Renewal, Delante Clark

Graduate Scholarship and Creative Works

Civic education in the United States faces persistent challenges, including inequitable access, curricular fragmentation, and reluctance to address controversial social and political issues. This paper presents a comprehensive synthesis of research, policy analysis, and practice-based case studies to reimagine civic education for the 21st century. Drawing on core scholarship supplemented with additional peer-reviewed studies on school segregation, charter school demographics, and race-conscious student assignment policies, the study examines the historical evolution of civic education, structural inequities, political avoidance, and promising innovations. Using a qualitative synthesis approach, the findings highlight five thematic areas: structural inequities, curricular misalignment, sanitized narratives, limits of …

Your Consolation Brings Joy: How Private School Employees Support Students Experiencing Trauma, Virginia L. Rose 2025 Southeastern University - Lakeland

Your Consolation Brings Joy: How Private School Employees Support Students Experiencing Trauma, Virginia L. Rose

PhD in Education

Trauma caused by adverse childhood experiences is a growing and pervasive issue. Researchers have found trauma may have physical, emotional, behavioral, academic, and spiritual effects on children. School employees are in a unique position to teach students about resiliency and can mitigate the effects of traumatic stress. Although multiple studies have examined teachers’ definition, perspective, and experiences of trauma, few studies have taken place in faith-based schools. The following qualitative study used a phenomenological approach to discover the lived experiences of faith-based school employees in identifying and supporting students who have experienced trauma. Eleven faith-based school employees participated in a …
