Arkansas K-2 Teachers’ Perceptions Of The Science Of Reading: A Case Study, Heather L. Nutt

Student Theses and Dissertations

Most people would agree that proficiency in reading is essential for students’ success in school and throughout life; however, students across the nation struggle to achieve grade-level proficiency in reading. For decades, people have argued about how reading should be taught. Many scientists now agree that body of evidence is known as the science of reading should inform reading instruction. Although there is a consensus in the scientific community, a gap in the literature exists regarding teachers’ perceptions of the science of reading. Unless all stakeholders come together, this issue will continue to present challenges for students. In this study, …

Students were asked to provide general feedback about the usability and effectiveness of the technology using Likert surveys. The students also answered open-ended questions about how the technology could be adapted to be more neurodiverse friendly. In a second round of interviews, employees were asked what outcomes they perceived came from their participation. These responses were used to understand whether the outcomes aligned with those …

Oregon needs Black educators in the K-12 public school system. In 35 school districts throughout the state, the number of students of color has risen by over 40% in recent years (Oregon Chief Education Office, 2019). The number of educators of color in the state is under 10%. The number of Black educators is even lower. Board of Education ruling. At that time in history, Black communities fought for civil rights as they experienced …

A Student Induction Program’S Impact On Young “Techies’” Purpose In Life And Its Effects On Their Well-Being: A Case Study Of Telangana, India, Ankit Shah

Dissertations

India's higher education system aims to develop well-rounded individuals with intellectual curiosity, a spirit of service, and a strong ethical foundation. However, the current state of technical higher education in India is criticized for mono-disciplinarity and rigid boundaries that do not provide an appropriate context for developing socially conscious individuals who make productive contributions to society. To address this growing concern, the Department of Higher Education in India introduced the Student Induction Program (SIP). The primary objective of the SIP is to foster purpose, which is not only meaningful to the students themselves but also to their nation; as such, …
