employed self-report questionnaires to 548 Palestinian Arab adolescents to examine the attitudes toward the potential risks of experimenting and regularly using psychoactive substances, family cohesion, parental and friends' attitudes toward the use of psych-active substances. It was hypothesized that the adolescents would attribute higher risk to the regular use when compared with experimentation. Furthermore, family cohesion, parents and friends’ attitudes toward psycho-active substances will significantly predict the attitudes toward the risk of using psycho-active substances among adolescents. After conducting regression analyses, it was found out that the adolescents attributed the higher risk to the regular use of psychoactive substances. The …

To provide English learning opportunities to International students while in their home countries, I designed an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) synchronous online program delivered via videoconferences. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of an Online EFL program when compared to a regular in-person Intensive English Program (IEP) where students are immersed in the American culture. The control group was composed of 88 students from Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries in South America that took the IEP offered by a private university in Kentucky in the past five years. The study sample comprised of all (108) enrolled and graduating students at the Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie, of whom (15) are enrolled in the program and (93) are graduates. Education is critical for immigrants because it allows for integration, which is vital to an immigrant’s life in the United States. Academic librarianship is a constantly changing profession. Open education librarianship has developed as an area of specialization. Effective continuing professional development (CPD) for learning about open educational resources (OER) is needed to meet academic librarians' knowledge and training needs engaged in this area. This narrative case study examines the experiences and perceptions of academic librarians who completed a structured open education leadership program. Interviews were conducted with a selection of program fellows to capture the personal perspectives of the program participants.
