Providing treatment interventions to clients with chronic pain is a complex task for any professional. Research suggests that clients with chronic pain experience declines in physical, emotional, and psychological quality of life. Client’s that have chronic pain have complex effects from dealing with this condition in their lives. Hashmi and colleagues found that clients with chronic pain (i.e., pain lasting > three months) process pain through the emotional and reward circuitry in the brain. The literature base provides evidence that clients with chronic pain who receive psychologically based interventions along with physical rehabilitation have better outcomes than individuals with chronic pain …

The purpose of this narrative inquiry qualitative analysis study is to examine the lived experiences of Midwest higher education public safety administrators regarding the Clery Act. Since 1990 when the Clery Act became law, higher education public safety administrators have been required to implement this law at their institutions. While research on the Clery Act has been limited, it is critical to examine the lived experiences of those tasked with its implementation and compliance. Academic advisors have played an essential role within higher education institutions. Not only did academic advisors assist students in selecting courses/scheduling, but advisors could also help address students' substance use concerns. These concerns could be a factor preventing students from graduating. Students with substance use concerns who did not receive adequate services were barred from reaching their full potential in life and academics, receiving lower grades, and suffering from higher dropout rates than other students. This qualitative research study aimed to identify stigmas surrounding mental health that influenced South Asian graduate students’ help-seeking behavior while enrolled in higher education. Findings from this study suggest that cultural stigmas associated with mental illness foster concerning attitudes among South Asian students that equate mental illness with weakness and thus, promote minimization of personal mental struggles to avoid negative labeling and judgement. The pipeline of college students seeking teaching positions is shrinking. The teacher shortage makes finding and retaining new teachers even more challenging. The cost of replacing existing teachers who leave is tremendous, and new teachers leave the profession at an alarming rate. This dissertation explored the lived experiences of new teachers who recently completed their induction and mentoring program. Corporate training and development, despite their significance as primary learning strategies for adults, have received limited research attention. This study addresses this gap by evaluating and comparing the effectiveness of video-based and digital job aid procedural-based microlearning in a corporate setting, utilizing most of the Kirkpatrick Model: learner satisfaction, knowledge retention, and behavior change. Employing a mixed methods approach to gain a comprehensive understanding of microlearning’s application and potential for improving business outcomes, the study incorporates pre- and post-tests, participant interviews, and self-reported questionnaires. Undergraduate research is a specific pedagogical practice with an impact on teaching and learning, and the definition of what counts as research continues to expand to include different types of projects, mentors, and institutions. Diversity, equity, and inclusion in librarians’ work with students and faculty are present and growing. Collaborations between faculty, librarians, and students are furthering student knowledge in new ways. This community and an awareness of students’ non-academic challenges demonstrate the library’s contribution to students’ overall sense of belonging within their institutions. This chapter describes the involvement of an academic library with an undergraduate research program.

It is easy to become inundated with school, work, and daily life that we forget to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness “is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us” (Mindful Staff, 2020). The goal of this activity is to demonstrate mindfulness through planting a seed and practicing daily mindfulness as we take care of the seed while it grows. Wade and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on women serve as powerful reminders of the necessity of this focus while underscoring a deep-rooted history of oppressive patriarchal structures. Disability culture is often misunderstood by counselors who lack extensive training in working with individuals with disabilities (IWDs) (Stuntzner & Hartley, 2014). This quantitative study used the Counseling Clients with Disability Survey (CCDS) to explore the beliefs and perceived knowledge of counselors-in-training (CITs), counselors, and counselor educators regarding preparation to counsel IWDs, which is particularly important as disability status can change across the lifespan, and given that the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) Standards Review Committee provided a guide to the draft standards incorporating the infusion of disability concepts. This digital zine was the result of a course I was taking. The project was for students to develop a fully fleshed-out digital version of the promotion or advertisement of a program titled "CAFE" (Creative Arts for Everyone) at a nearby art center called the Hearst Center for the Arts after completing close to 10 volunteer hours over the span of three months for the program. The project's goal was to utilize digital promotion to potentially funnel in art consumers, artists, customers, and volunteers. This project highlights the ways that Aristotelian interpretations of ethos continue to inform and shape contemporary writing pedagogy, despite their potential outdatedness in the context of the 21st-century composition classroom. Authors used an andragogy framework to help undergraduate allied health students better understand social determinants of health (SDOH) using a photo essay assignment. The study examined students’ perceptions of SDOH in various communities, description of health outcomes associated with their chosen SDOH, and lessons learned and suggestions to improve the assignment for future cohorts. Data were extracted from photo essays from 2019–2021 and entered in Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis after course completion. Conventional qualitative content analysis was used to analyze student evaluation data from open-ended questions. Data were extracted from 53 student essays from 2019 to 2021. …

งานวิจัยนี้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพในรูปพหุกรณีศึกษา มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของประชาชนในบริบทของการพัฒนาความเป็นพลเมืองไทย 2) ศึกษาสภาพความร่วมมือขององค์กรเครือข่ายในการส่งเสริมการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตให้แก่ประชาชนในบริบทของการพัฒนาความเป็นพลเมืองไทย 3) นำเสนอแนวปฏิบัติในการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือขององค์กรเครือข่ายเพื่อส่งเสริมการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตในบริบทการพัฒนาความเป็นพลเมืองไทย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) คุณลักษณะการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตในบริบทของความเป็นพลเมืองไทย 7 ประการ ได้แก่ (1) ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของการเรียนรู้และกำหนดเป้าหมายในการเรียนรู้ (2) กระตือรือร้นที่จะเรียนรู้จากแหล่งเรียนรู้ (3) มีความพร้อมที่จะแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ในระหว่างกันอย่างต่อเนื่อง (4) พัฒนาทักษะการใช้เครื่องมือและอุปกรณ์ (5) สามารถในการประเมินข้อมูลที่ได้รับจากการเรียนรู้ (6) กระตือรือร้นในการนำความรู้มาปรับใช้และ (7) มีเจตคติที่ดีต่อการเรียนรู้ 2) สภาพความร่วมมือขององค์กรเครือข่ายทั้ง 2 พื้นที่ เน้นปฏิสัมพันธ์อย่างเป็นทางการ โดยมีสถาบันพระปกเกล้าฯ มอบหมายให้ศูนย์พัฒนาการเมืองภาคพลเมือง ออกแบบหลักสูตรและกิจกรรมที่ 3) แนวปฏิบัติในการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือขององค์กรเครือข่ายฯ ประกอบด้วย ความเป็นมาและความสำคัญของแนวปฏิบัติ วัตถุประสงค์ และเนื้อหา ได้แก่ หลักการ บทบาท และวิธีการในการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือฯ

การพัฒนาโปรแกรมการศึกษานอกระบบโรงเรียนเฉพาะบุคคลเพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะการทำงานของผู้ที่มีความบกพร่องทางสติปัญญา มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพปัจจุบันและวิเคราะห์ทักษะการทำงานที่จำเป็นสำหรับผู้ที่มีความบกพร่องทางสติปัญญาตามความต้องการของหน่วยจ้างงาน 2) พัฒนาโปรแกรมการศึกษานอกระบบโรงเรียนเฉพาะบุคคลเพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะการทำงานของผู้ที่มีความบกพร่องทางสติปัญญา 3) ศึกษาผลการใช้โปรแกรม และ 4) นำเสนอคู่มือการใช้โปรแกรม การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยแบบพหุวิธี (Multi methods Disign) แบ่งขั้นตอนการวิจัยเป็น 4 ระยะ คือ ระยะที่ 1 วิเคราะห์ทักษะการทำงานที่จำเป็นสำหรับผู้ที่มีความบกพร่องทางสติปัญญาตามความต้องการของหน่วยจ้างงาน โดยการสัมภาษณ์กลุ่มเป้าหมายจำนวน 31 คน ระยะที่ 2 การพัฒนาโปรแกรม มีกลุ่มเป้าหมายจำนวน 19 คน ระยะที่ 3 ตรวจสอบประสิทธิภาพของโปรแกรม ด้วยการใช้การวิจัยเชิงทดลองในรูปแบบ Single Subject Design มีกลุ่มเป้าหมายจำนวน 11 คน และระยะที่ 4 พัฒนาคู่มือการใช้โปรแกรมโดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก กลุ่มเป้าหมายจำนวน 10 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. ลักษณะการจ้างงานผู้ที่มีความบกพร่องทางสติปัญญาตามพระราชบัญญัติส่งเสริมและพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตคนพิการ พ.ศ. 2550 มี 3 ลักษณะ คือ การจ้างงานคนพิการด้วยมาตรา 33 มาตรา 35 (3) และมาตรา 35 (7) โดยกฎหมายเอื้อประโยชน์ให้คนพิการ ลักษณะงานมีความสอดคล้องกับศักยภาพ ความสำเร็จในการจ้างงานเกิดจากทักษะ ความสามารถ ความชอบ แรงจูงใจ และความร่วมมือจากทุกภาคส่วน ทักษะที่มีความจำเป็นมากที่สุดในการทำงานคือ ทักษะในชีวิตประจำวัน ทักษะสังคม ทักษะอาชีพ และทักษะพื้นฐานหรือทักษะวิชาการ ตามลำดับ ทักษะย่อยที่มีความจำเป็น ได้แก่ การดูแลตนเอง การควบคุมตนเอง การรับข้อมูลและทำตามคำสั่ง และการสื่อสาร 2. โปรแกรมการศึกษานอกระบบโรงเรียนเฉพาะบุคคลเพื่อเสริมสร้างทักษะการทำงานสำหรับผู้ที่มีความบกพร่องทางสติปัญญา ประกอบด้วย หลักการพื้นฐาน ข้อมูลพื้นฐานของผู้เรียน เป้าหมายและผลลัพธ์ของโปรแกรม เนื้อหา ระยะเวลาเริ่มต้นและสิ้นสุด กระบวนการเสริมสร้างทักษะการทำงานและแผนกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ ผู้สอนและบทบาทหน้าที่ เทคโนโลยี สื่อ และแหล่งทรัพยากร และ เครื่องมือติดตามความก้าวหน้าและวัดผลความสำเร็จ 3. ผลการทดลองใช้โปรแกรม …

Organizations spend millions of dollars training employees in ways to improve their skills –recently through mandatory professional development delivered virtually or through online asynchronous platforms. This research investigated how social exchange theory and self-efficacy theory inform faculty participants’ motivation to transfer such knowledge and skills from mandatory online trainings into their workplace practices. Faculty who had attended mandatory online training were asked to complete a 25-item survey about their motivation to transfer information from the training into their workplace practice as well as their perceived utility of training and their training self-efficacy.
