Marketing Faculty Publications
The competition for safari tourism in sub-Saharan Africa is intense. Aside from inter-country competition, there is also intra-country competition among game viewing lodges and resorts within each country. In this context, it is important to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each country for safari tourism. We empirically test the relationship between tourism performance and multiple tourism dimensions, namely, tourism Attractions (A), Basics (B), and Context (C). We test the Tourism A-B-C model (Manrai, Manrai, & Friedeborn, 2018) using data from Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The study, a first in the region, addresses tourism …

Performing arts centers (PACs) provide a cultural hub that aids in increasing civic engagement and social capital within a community. Attendance in the performing arts has been on the decline, which threatens the cultural richness of communities across the country. The purpose of this study was to examine the social media marketing practices of select California performing arts centers. A Longitudinal Examination Of Fda Warning And Untitled Letters Issued To Pharmaceutical Companies For Violations In Drug Promotion Standards, Yam Limbu, Christopher Mckinley, Valerio Temperini
Department of Marketing Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
This study examined over-time differences in the nature and frequency of Food and Drug Administration warning and untitled letters issued to pharmaceutical companies. Across a 12-year time frame, results indicate that frequency of letters and specific violations rose steadily from 2005 to 2010 but have since fallen dramatically. When infractions do occur, they continue to result from the omission or lack of risk information, misleading/false claims, omission of material facts, and labeling issues. In addition, the findings show that violations occur most frequently on brochures, sales aids, corporate websites, and print ads, with the proportion of violations on Internet media …

Journal of Global Business Insights
Tip is the monetary amount that consumers voluntarily leave for the quality of the service they get. Whether a tip is left or not, and the amount of the tip left may result from different demographic and characteristic features of consumers. This study was conducted to determine the amount of tip left by the generations based on the personalized bills. Based on three different personalized bill types for a dinner for two people at a mid-quality restaurant, it was attempted to determine whether the costumers left tips or not, and if they did, how much was the amount. The data …
