Child Inhibitory Control And Maternal Acculturation Moderate Effects Of Maternal Parenting On Chinese American Children’S Adjustment, Jing Yu, Charissa L. Cheah, Craig H. Hart, Chongming Yang

The goals of this study were to examine: (a) bidirectional associations between maternal parenting (physical punishment and guilt induction) and Chinese American preschool children’s psychosocial adjustment and (b) the role of maternal cultural orientation and child temperament in moderating parenting effects. Participants were Chinese American mothers and children (N 163, Mage 4.56, 53% boys). Mothers reported on their parenting practices at both Wave 1 (W1) and Wave 2 (W2) and their cultural orientations and children’s inhibitory control at W1. Teachers rated children’s prosocial, internalizing, and externalizing behaviors at both W1 and W2. A Bayesian approach to path analysis was utilized …

Despite anti-immigrant sentiment and severe restrictions on immigration to the us during the Second World War, many individuals and organisations fought to change attitudes and utilise the limited possibilities available. Cecilia Razovsky worked throughout this era to utilise quotas, increase awareness, and avoid negative attention that could hinder immigration. Varian Fry provided practical and legal assistance to refugees fleeing France until he was stopped by government officials. Razovsky has remained largely unknown but Varian Fry has drawn attention as an example of America’s best intentions. OSL Students' Service-Learning Project Output: Booklet

此書是在賽馬會「關愛‧ 服務‧ 研習@ 屯門」計劃下，通過嶺大學生與社區人士合作的一系列服務研習計劃，所產生的重點產物。而這個廣泛合作的計劃，由嶺南大學服務研習處營運，並由香港賽馬會提供資助。出版這本書主要有四個目的：首先，利用此書向公眾展示嶺大校園的美態，並介紹其歷史與文化價值；第二，適逢嶺大於香港復校五十週年，出版此書正好作為慶祝和標誌的一部分；第三，通過此書突顯長者與學生之間，是如何達致跨代共融；第四，以此書展示服務研習配合學術課程的良好效果，與不同學科的整合是如何實踐。

此書的由來，緣於服務研習處安排了一些社區長者擔任藝行大使，於8月25 日的嶺大迎新營帶領校園導賞團。長者運用自己的歷史知識，於導賞團集中介紹嶺大校園的建築及自然生態特色。其後，一些藝行大使為兩組嶺大學生，安排了相類似的校園導賞團，希望從中訓練學生，學習對嶺大校園的不同部分作介紹。兩組學生於大學修讀兩個不同學科的課程，當中包括有68 位修讀的「CLA 9015 記遊 書寫」及有7 位修讀的「CLA 9014 創意數碼影像」。

經過藝行大使的訓練後，「CLA 9015 記遊 書寫」的學生，於 2017 年 10 月 21 日的嶺南大學資訊日為公眾人士舉辦校園導賞遊。對於這次籌辦服務的經驗，學生都有所反思，並將相關文章收錄於此書內。而「CLA9014創意數碼影像」的學生，則學習為校園的建築及風景拍下有意義的照片，其作品亦已成為此書的插圖。兩組學生均可從教授的教學上，學習到應用相關的技術和概念。而藝行大使亦為此書提供了詳盡的內容及歷史記敘。

The purpose of this brief is to provide evidence that can be used to strengthen the family planning program in India, particularly for community-based and facility-based distribution of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs), use of which remains low despite their availability. Understanding women’s interactions with frontline health workers while obtaining the method and during follow-up counseling can help the Government of India improve its National Family Planning Program. They improve our mental health, make us better environmental stewards, Improve socialization, and make a healthier population by lowering the rates of asthma, obesity and hypertension. These public health outcomes disproportionately impacts minority communities in the City of Richmond, a population that visits the James River Park System at a lower rate than white communities do. This plan identifies the barriers preventing access for minority communities and gives recommendations to improve access in the City of Richmond.

Utilizing qualitative methodology, participants' process of faith development was analyzed to determine the impact that development has on their decision making processes in college. To accomplish this, individual interviews were conducted with four participants who came from a faith-based background and it was determined that faith development plays a significant role in each of their decision making processes while in college. Stereotype threat is something that has plagued the African-American community for decades. However, there is no direct research on the protective factors that could mitigate or exacerbate the effects of stereotype threat on African-Americans. This study utilized a qualitative approach was used to provide insight into students' perspectives on their self-concept, academic self-efficacy, and social identity in relation to their majors at a mid-size Midwestern university. Two undergraduate students majoring in 2D Studio Art and three undergraduate students majoring in Theater Performance were interviewed. This study utilized a qualitative approach to analyze gender-inclusive policies amongst four-year public institutions in the Midwest. This study focused primarily on residence life administrators, who are responsible for the creation and implementation of such policies on their campuses. 40 institutions completed a survey inquiring about their policies or practices, and four institutions were interviewed as a follow-up. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between violations of the student conduct code and the perception of peer accountability within social Greek organizations. The researcher hypothesized that members of Greek organizations would report high perceptions of peer accountability within their organizations, and because of that there would be an effect on violations of the student conduct code. This qualitative study examines ethnic identity development of 1.5 generation Filipino American immigrants in U.S. The survey methods used in the study were a demographic questionnaire, and semi-structured interview. Two Filipino students, one from the Southwest and the other from the Midwest regions of the U.S. participated in the study. Two research questions guided this study; what factors influence the ethnic identity development of the 1.5 generation Filipino American immigrants, and what strategies educators can use to facilitate 1.5 generation Filipino American immigrant student success. This qualitative study sought to examine how Black women define and create their sense of belonging while attending a predominately White institution using a photovoice approach. The women took photographs of spaces that they frequently occupy and then engaged in a face-to-face interview to discuss the photographs. The researcher also investigated four Black women, ranging from junior to graduate level, to identify how they developed a sense of belonging at the research site institution. This paper examines the intersection of technical law and common sense reasoning in small claims arbitration, a distinctive and increasingly prevalent kind of legal work. Following (Garfinkel, Ethnomethodology's program: Working out Durkheim's aphorism, 2002), the study explores the "reform of technical reason" and what a "just outcome" means by focusing on the arbitration of actual small claims cases and how technical-legal and non-technical/informal resources are brought into alignment to produce dispute resolution.
