In 2017, a joint international effort commenced under the direction of the President of University for Business and Technology (UBT) in Kosovo with colleagues from Linnaeus University (Sweden) and University for the Pacific (USA) to define, create and populate a Knowledge Center for UBT which would include an institutional repository (IR). Enlivened by discussion and feedback from the intended recipients, the needs and goals of a UBT IR were identified. The Charles B. Sears Law Library at the University at Buffalo School of Law recently completed a seven-month project to load the entire backfile of the school's six law journals onto its Digital Commons repository. The vast majority went fairly quickly, but some of the early volumes required a large amount of additional processing.

For its first 22 volumes, the Buffalo Law Review covered current legal developments through case notes, including 14 years of in-depth coverage of the previous year's New York Court of Appeals term. These case notes provide a contemporary review of the development of New York law …

On February 28, 2019, the University of California (UC) System announced the cancellation of their $50 million journal subscription deal with Elsevier. The impetus behind the UC decision comes from two issues. Firstly, the increasing costs of journal subscriptions in a landscape where library budgets remain flat. Secondly, the effort to shift the journal publishing model away from subscriptions to a sustainable open access model. This report presents the findings from an online survey conducted in February and March 2019 to gather author feedback on open access (OA) books. Survey questions were designed to build on previous studies of OA for journal authors, as well as previous research on OA books, to assess the current awareness, attitudes and behaviours of authors who have and have not previously published OA. The raw anonymised data has been made freely available under a CC BY licence.2 Of 5,509 responses, 2,542 book authors completed the survey, and only these responses have been analysed here. East Tennessee State University has been using the reference manager Zotero, the copyright database SHERPA/RoMEO, and the open access locator Unpaywall to add faculty publications into a Digital Commons institutional repository. The presentation provides an analysis of the availability and accuracy of records generated by Zotero, SHERPA/RoMEO, and Unpaywall. Specifically, the analysis compares how effective the tools are when using them on journal articles in four disciplines: Arts and Humanities, Education, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Medicine and Health Sciences. In Fall of 2017, the Sprague Library began offering workshops for citation management software in response to the increasing number of 1-on-1 appointment requests. While workshops covering various topics had been offered in the past, attendance had been low. Casting this precedent into the wind, we offered additional workshops (using anecdotal evidence from library instruction classes, research appointments, and conversations with faculty to guide the topics), and targeted graduate students and faculty as our audience.
