Los Emigrantes Nuevomexicanos: The 1849 Repatriation To Guadalupe And San Ignacio, Chihuahua, Mexico, Samuel E. Sisneros

MA Thesis: As a result of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the United States’ war with Mexico (1846-48), the inhabitants living in the territory occupied by the United States (northern half of the Mexican Republic) were left to make hard decisions as to their national identity and loyalties. Those citizens residing in the territory known today as the Southwestern United States were provided by the Republic of Mexico the opportunity to emigrate to Mexican soil in order to retain their Mexican citizenship. This article examines several developments in electronic technology which appear to hold great potential for advancing human well-being and community organization and have already manifested some important portion of that potential in recent years. They are, in order of presentation, electronic communication and networking, electronic advocacy, fund raising support, geographic information systems and data base management. We conclude this brief article with a brief discussion of information poverty and the growing disparity of information haves and have-nots.

The Internet was at its inception a commons rather than a marketplace. Increasingly, however, communitarian notions have been overwhelmed by the internet as one huge shopping arcade. The potential is certainly there for this amazing technology to advance the causes of human freedom well-being and community. Digital library of thesis is a web-based library system for submitting, storing and disseminating or theses electronically. This system is proposed to overcome the short comings of the traditional methods of storing and disseminating or printed thesis. Users can use this system to upload their theses in the electronic form to the server and the theses can be retrieved using the efficient search capabilities provided. Source codes can be stored in this system too. This system provides an efficient way or handling source codes by storing the source codes in the reusable components or object form.
