The purpose of this research is to study the possibilities of modeling oil-water emulsion in the laboratory. The study of the ratio of components and conditions of dispersion (formation) of oil-water emulsions on their stability at different settling temperatures using a laboratory model can optimize the separation of oil-water emulsions in field conditions. The aim of the research was to determine the properties of loess clay in Kattabog deposit (Uzbekistan) to identify possible areas of use. Modern methods of physicochemical analysis are used: spectroscopic, x-ray phase, electron microscopic methods of analysis. The research results showed that the main phases of clay are hydromica, quartz, kaolinite, calcite and orthoclase. Based on the research, it can be stated that the clay of Kattabog deposit has good physical and technical properties and mineralogical composition, which is a valuable raw material for the production of various ceramics, bricks, tiles, majolica and other products.

The aim of the research is to determine the effect of alumina on the phase composition of shale of the Jerdanak deposit and the quartz-pyrophyllite rock of the Baynaksay deposit during high-temperature firing. X-ray phase analysis determined changes in the phase composition of rocks with additives from 5 to 20% aluminum oxide as a result of firing at 1300 and 1400 °C. A comparative analysis revealed the absence of cristobalite formation, a decrease in the quartz content, and an increase in the amount of mullite for shale samples. The synthesis of mixed ligand coordination compounds of copper, cobalt and nickel formates with formamide and urea in an aqueous solution was carried out. The metal content in the complexes was determined by complexometric titration. Using IR spectroscopy, it was proved that the coordination of formamide and urea with the complexing atom is carried out through the oxygen atom of the carbonyl group. The absorption spectrum of coordinated water is also present in the IR spectrum. The nature of the change in the frequency of stretching vibrations of the –OH group in the composition of water indicates its location in …

With the aim of determination of electronic and geometrical structures of mixed-ligand complexes, theoretical modeling of the structures of coordination compounds of transition metals with dialkyldithiophosphate chelating ligands with aminobenzimidazoles carried out using quantum chemical methods. Using BIOVIA Materials Accelrys Studio 2017 software packages, the geometry, electron density distribution, and frontier orbitals calculated for the mixed ligand complexes of Au(III), Pt(II), Ag(I), Cu(II), Ni(II), Fe(III), which are necessary for understanding the electronic structure of coordination compounds with chelating ligands.

Blended biocomposites created from the electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between polysaccharides and structural proteins exhibit useful and unique properties. However, engineering these biopolymers into applicable forms is challenging due to the coupling of the material’s physicochemical properties to its morphology, and the undertaking that comes with controlling this. Multilayered transparent conducting films based on ZnO: Ga were deposited onto glass substrate by DC magnetron sputtering technique. The films were prepared from alloy (Zn: Ga) and ceramic (ZnO: Ga) targets with gallium composition of 3 at% and 4 at%, respectively. Crystal structure and phase analysis were measured using X-ray diffractometer (XRD). The XRD structural analysis results indicated that all multilayered films were polycrystalline with (002) orientation slightly shifted of diffracting angles due to gallium dopant concentrations as increase in the deposition temperatures. The films were hexagonal wurtzite structure, having preferred growth orientation in c-axis perpendicular to the substrate surface. …

Acetoin (3-hydroxy-2-butanone) is an important food spice. As a platform compound, it is widely used in medicine, tobacco, cosmetics, chemical material and other industries. In this paper, α-hydroxylated acetal, an intermediate of acetoin, was prepared from 2-butanone by indirect electrooxidation in the plate and frame electrolytic cell, in which graphite plates were used as both an anode and a cathode, while KOH as an electrolyte and KI as a catalyst. In this paper, a recently developed single wire-electrode AC probe technology which does not need a reference or counter electrode was employed to investigate the electrochemical corrosion and sacrificial anode protection behaviors of steel and zinc in 3.5wt.% NaCl. With this simple, fast, reliable and stable probe, the instantaneous corrosion rate and accumulated corrosion loss of carbon steel in 3.5wt.% NaCl were measured, and the results revealed that both were greater than those of zinc. Cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol (KA oil) obtained from highly selective oxidation of cyclohexane (CHA) show important industrial value and application prospects. In this work, the intermittent electrodeposition was developed to prepare nano-MnOx catalyst loading porous tubular titanium membrane electrode (MnOx/Ti), which was employed to constitute an electro-catalytic membrane reactor (ECMR) for the oxidation of cyclohexane to produce cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone. The surface morphology, crystal structure and electrochemical property of the catalysts were characterized by FESEM, XRD and electrochemical workstation, respectively. Nickel-rich layered material has been considered as the most promising one for lithium ion batteries due to its high specific capacity. To further improve the lifetime performance, it is significant to investigate the degradation mechanisms deeply. This study provides designs for a low-cost, easily replicable open-source lab-grade digital scale that can be used as a precision balance. The design is such that it can be manufactured for use in most labs throughout the world with open-source RepRap-class material extrusion-based 3-D printers for the mechanical components and readily available open-source electronics including the Arduino Nano. Several versions of the design were fabricated and tested for precision and accuracy for a range of load cells. This study describes the development of an automated bag valve mask (BVM) compression system, which, during acute shortages and supply chain disruptions can serve as a temporary emergency ventilator. The resuscitation system is based on the Arduino controller with a real-time operating system installed on a largely RepRap 3-D printable parametric component-based structure. The cost of the system is under $170, which makes it affordable for replication by makers around the world. The current research is focused on developing a geopolymer binder using rice husk ash–derived silica nanoparticles. Four types of rice husks were collected directly from various rice fields of Bangladesh in order to evaluate the pozzolanic activity and compatibility of the derived rice husk ashes with precursors of sodium-based geopolymers. Silicon carbide whiskers were introduced into sodium-based geopolymers in order to evaluate the response of silicon carbide whiskers to the interfacial bonding and strength of sodium-based geopolymers along with rice husk ashes. This thesis mainly focuses on the realization of laser enhancing additive manufactured optical fibers on the flexible substrate based on previous work on the rigid surface, and the exploration of their loss at different bend status by optical transmission test. Optical fibers are successfully fabricated using polymethyl methacrylate by fused deposition modeling technology within Norland Optical Adhesive 1369 which is chosen as the cladding material and micro-dispensed on the Kapton substrate. Since the isolation of graphene in 2004, two-dimensional (2D) layered materials, specially the transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), have attracted immense interest from theoreticians and experimentalist due to the diversity of properties presented in this family of materials. The main reason for the interest in such materials has been the observation of emergent properties as a consequence of the reduced dimensions, i.e. the monolayer regime. As single-photon imaging becomes progressively more commonplace in sensing applications such as low-light-level imaging, three-dimensional profiling, and fluorescence imaging, there exist a number of fields where multispectral information can also be exploited, e.g., in environmental monitoring and target identification. We have fabricated a high-transmittance mosaic filter array, where each optical filter was composed of a plasmonic metasurface fabricated in a single lithographic step. This plasmonic metasurface design utilized an array of elliptical and circular nanoholes, which produced enhanced optical coupling between multiple plasmonic interactions. Concrete deck delamination often demonstrates strong variations in size, shape, and temperature distribution under the influences of outdoor weather conditions. The strong variations create challenges for pure analytical solutions in infrared image segmentation of delaminated areas. The recently developed supervised deep learning approach demonstrated the potentials in achieving automatic segmentation of RGB images. However, its effectiveness in segmenting thermal images remains under-explored. The main challenge lies in the development of specific models and the generation of a large range of labeled infrared images for training. In this study, a body-centered cubic (BCC) lattice unit cell occupied inside a frame structure to create a so-called “InsideBCC” is considered. The equivalent quasi-isotropic properties required to describe the material behavior of the InsideBCC unit cell are equivalent Young’s modulus ( E e ) , equivalent shear modulus ( G e ) , and equivalent Poisson’s ratio ( ν e ) . To assist firefighters and other first responders to use their existing equipment for respiration during the COVID-19 pandemic without using single-use, low-supply, masks, this study outlines an open source kit to convert a 3M-manufactured Scott Safety self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) into a powered air-purifying particulate respirator (PAPR). The open source PAPR can be fabricated with a low-cost 3-D printer and widely available components for less than $150, replacing commercial conversion kits saving 85% or full-fledged proprietary PAPRs saving over 90%. The aim of the study was to obtain microcrystalline cellulose from gourds. Cellulose was isolated from the stems of watermelon and pumpkin by acid and alkaline heat treatment. Microcrystalline cellulose was obtained from cellulose by hydrolysis. Cellulose was hydrolyzed in a mixture of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The optical parameters of the microcrystalline cellulose sample, ash content, bulk density, water swelling, and moisture sorption were determined. The structural features of the obtained microcrystalline cellulose were studied by IR spectroscopy. Considering that many derivatives of bis carbamates have different biological activity, it was intuitive to produce a targeted synthesis of new derivatives of bis carbamates by the interaction of hexamethylene diisocyanate with 3,5-diode-4-hydroxybenzoic acid and 2,4,6-triiodophenol (1: 2 mol, respectively) in freshly distilled dry pyridine at 95-110 оC for 6 hours, the corresponding derivatives were obtained - methylene bis carbamates. Experimental studies have been conducted to identify the acute toxicity and radiopaque properties of the synthesized new N, -hexamethylene bis (2,6-diode-4-carboxyphenylcarbamate).
