Effect Of Blending Of Medium-Temperature Phase Change Material On The Bitumen Storage Heat, Loubna Najemi, Imane Belyamani, Mohsine Bouya

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of using D-Mannitol as a phase-change material (PCM) to increase the energy storage capacity and improve the thermomechanical characteristics of the modified bitumen. D-mannitol (Dm) was incorporated into Bitumen (Bm) using a high-speed shearing method. The results showed that the integration of PCM enhanced the physical characteristics of the basic bitumen, with the modified bitumen having a melting point close to that of D-mannitol (Tm = 164 °C). The D-mannitol was found to crystallize during cooling, indicating that it can store or release heat in the latent form. The specific heat capacity of …

This thesis presents a study on the properties of Bombyx Mori silk nanofibers and polyimide (PI) nanofibers. Firstly, a Bombyx Mori silk solution has been created with degummed silkworm cocoons in order to separate the fibroin and the sericin, the two main proteins of the silk. The fibroin was then centrifuged to remove insoluble particles and stored and 4°C before mixing with hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP). On the second part, a polyimide solution, made with shavings of polyimide and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). Both solutions are then electrospun. Electrospinning parameters are studied. Hydroxyapatite (HAp), the main mineral constituent of dentine and tooth enamel, is commonly used as a coating component, notably for overlaying titanium– or ceramics–based implants. This thesis aims to investigate the behavior of a HAp-based coating, specifically designed to be compatible with a porous substrate. In the present work, the integration of femtosecond laser surface processing (FLSP) with copper hydroxide on hybrid surfaces was examined. The goal was to determine the impact on pool boiling enhancement. The samples for the investigation were fabricated by first functionalizing with FLSP, and the process was then followed by citric acid cleaning (CAC) to eliminate the oxides generated on the copper surface during the FLSP process. After the citric acid cleaning, the samples were immersed in ethanol and subjected to an ultrasonic bath for 25 minutes. DC magnetron sputtering at a substrate temperature of 425 °C was used to successfully deposit W/Zn-doped VO2 thin films on soda lime glass (SLG) substrates. The aim was to investigate the influence of Zn doping levels on the transition temperature ( ), luminous transmittance (Tlum) and solar transmittance modulation (ΔTsol) of VO2-based thin films. UV/VIS/NIR spectrometer, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), and Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS) were used to characterise the thin films. Spin-accumulation and spin-current profiles are calculated for a disordered Pt film subjected to an in-plane electric current within the nonequilibrium Green's function approach. In the bulklike region of the sample, this approach captures the intrinsic spin Hall effect found in other calculations. Near the surfaces, the results reveal qualitative differences with the results of the widely used spin-diffusion model, even when the boundary conditions are modified to try to account for them. One difference is that the effective spin-diffusion length for transverse spin transport is significantly different from its longitudinal counterpart and is instead similar to the mean-free path. We study phase-controlled planar Josephson junctions comprising a two-dimensional electron gas with strong spin-orbit coupling and d-wave superconductors, which have an advantage of a high critical temperature. We show that a region between the two superconductors can be tuned into a topological state by the in-plane Zeeman field, and can host Majorana bound states. The phase diagram as a function of the Zeeman field, chemical potential, and the phase difference between superconductors exhibits the appearance of Majorana bound states for a wide range of parameters. This paper presents an experimental investigation of the effect of fire flame on self-compacting concrete. The experimental program included casting cylinder and prism concrete specimens for compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, and concrete density tests. The specimens are exposed to fire flame at 800 ºC approximately for 2 hours or 6 hours. Then the specimens were cooled either in a fast or slow manner. Limnoperna fortunei, the golden mussel, is a bivalve mollusk considered an invader in South America. This species is responsible for ecological and economic damages due to its voluminous fouling capability. Chemical biocides such as MXD-100™ and sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) are often used to control L. fortunei infestations in hydraulic systems. Thus, we proposed to investigate the effects of different periods (24, 48 and 72 h) of exposure to MXD-100™ (0.56 mg L−1) and NaDCC (1.5 mg L−1) on the gills of L. fortunei through morphological and molecular analyses. Polysulfide shuttle and lithium dendrite formation limit practical applications of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. To address these issues, we propose a nacre-inspired design of MXene/aramid nanofiber (ANF) separator with “brick-and-mortar” microstructure. The combination of shortened ion transfer distance generated by holes on MXene and enlarged interlayer spacing provided by ANFs creates a hierarchical ion path “highway” that modulates the efficiency of ion transportation while synergistically suppressing the polysulfide shuttles. Furthermore, benefitting from the introduction of ANF, the composite membrane has good mechanical properties and impact tolerance. The Kashagan pipeline leaks were likely caused by sulfur stress corrosion cracking, a combined corrosion mechanism developed by the presence of high pressure, the high level of hydrogen sulfide(the main "ingredient" of sour gas), and poor metallurgical choice. Improper welding and poor metallurgical examination were blamed for causing the leaking issue. The purpose of the current review is to raise the alarm about the inappropriate corrosion management of Kashagan oil production and its societal and environmental consequences.
