The Rimo Filter, Richard Thomas Modafferi
The Rimo Filter, Richard Thomas Modafferi
Theses
Up to the present time, there has existed no general method for obtaining the pole locations of minimum-phase constant time delay filters of desired selectivity. Since constant time delay filters are necessary for low distortion FM transmission, and minimum-phase filters are easy to construct and align, a general method for locating the poles of minimum-phase constant time delay filters would be of considerable importance. Presented in this paper is a procedure for locating the poles of minimum-phase constant time delay filters of desired selectivity, using a FORTRAN digital computer program. Two experimental FM receivers were built to test. the new …
An Evaluation Of Demonstrations On Inductor Theory, Boyd Warner Wasson
An Evaluation Of Demonstrations On Inductor Theory, Boyd Warner Wasson
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
The writer sought an improved approach for teaching theory of electronics to high school students. This approach was intended to require less expense and time needed to provide classroom instruction on electrical theory.
The purpose of this study were to:
(1) Prepare a number of demonstrations to illustrate phenomena associated with coils or inductors and their use in practical electronics.
(2) Prepare equipment and gather parts needed to perform demonstrations. Ease of construction and economy were important considerations.
(3) Evaluate the effectiveness of the demonstrations on student comprehension and the ability to apply information taught.
Transistorized Circuits For Telemetry, Dominick Misciascio Jr.
Transistorized Circuits For Telemetry, Dominick Misciascio Jr.
Physics & Astronomy ETDs
This thesis is concerned with the telemetry of small DC signals from photomultiplier tubes. The circuitry must have a high input impedance so as not to load down the photomultiplier tube and a low output impedance which is capable of controlling the current through a small incandescent bulb. This bulb is used to illuminate a photoresistor. The output of the circuit consists of a variation of the resistance of the photoresistor. This variable resistance is conventionally converted into a variable audio frequency which is transmitted to the receiving station on a radio-frequency carrier. The output resistance must be independent of …
An Electronics Course Of Study For The High Schools In The Highline School District, Rual Elmer Tigner
An Electronics Course Of Study For The High Schools In The Highline School District, Rual Elmer Tigner
Graduate Student Research Papers
Electronics is now being taught in the Highline District in one course for one year in each of the four high schools. There are no formal district objectives tor this course, no sequence of instruction, no list of course content. The writer has felt the need for the above and has interviewed all four instructors in the district and the assistant superintendent of instruction. It was agreed that in order to provide a more meaningful, correlated program, it would be necessary to have such a district-wide course of study developed. In view of this, the writer has attempted to develop …
The Effect Of Velocity On The Electrical Conductivity Of Blood, Judea Pearl
The Effect Of Velocity On The Electrical Conductivity Of Blood, Judea Pearl
Theses
Although the change in the conductance of blood resulting from changes in its velocity has been noted by several investigators working with electrical impedance techniques, this parameter of measurement has heretofore not been investigated from the viewpoint of practical application to blood flow measurement.
In certain regions of the body such as the tooth pulp and the cranial cavity, the volume of the contained blood cannot fluctuate during a cardiac cycle because of the rigid wall of the chamber. Therefore, impedance pulses which have been obtained in studies on the tooth pulp, must be attributed to the rhythmical fluctuation of …
The Status Of Applied Electricity In Selected Colleges And Secondary Schools In Kansas, Karl E. Cunningham
The Status Of Applied Electricity In Selected Colleges And Secondary Schools In Kansas, Karl E. Cunningham
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
This study was developed on the premise that applied electricity was a current and future need of such dimensions that it demanded more attention by educators. An attempt was made to determine the present status of teaching applied electricity in selected colleges and secondary schools in Kansas with a view to developing and/or improving programs in the area. Objective data were obtained by surveys of secondary school administrators, industrial arts supervisors, and instructors who taught applied electricity as a separate course or as a unit in a composite general shop. Additional information and statistics were derived from books, periodicals, published …

History Of The Thermionic Tube, Mary Liguoria Urbin
History Of The Thermionic Tube, Mary Liguoria Urbin
Bachelors’ Theses
My interest in the field of physics being that of electricity, I have been permitted to pursue this thesis in the field of thermionics.
The thermionic tube is one of vital importance not only in the field of radiotelegraphy and radiotelephony, but is of great value in the field of engineering and a vast asset in university and college laboratories. In fact, its advent has opened up a new era in many fields. H. J. Van Bijl terms is a "versatile talking bottle." In a paper of this nature only the important features can be stressed, and even here much …
A Study Of The Plating Prohibitive Properties Of Various Separators, Bruno J. Pozorski
A Study Of The Plating Prohibitive Properties Of Various Separators, Bruno J. Pozorski
Bachelors’ Theses
The problem of this thesis is to study the plating prohibitive properties of the various materials commonly used in the manufacturing of separators, and to indicate which material would be most serviceable and feasible in a separator. At one time positives and negatives were kept not more than 0.25 inches apart, with the idea of reducing the intervening layers of electrolyte, and, therefore, the internal resistance of the cell, as much as possible. It was, however, found that the output could actually be increased by putting the plates at greater distances, the fact being that the larger bulk of solution …
Electrodeposition Of Rubber Upon An Electrode By Means Of A Direct Current Of Electricity, L. F. Novotny
Electrodeposition Of Rubber Upon An Electrode By Means Of A Direct Current Of Electricity, L. F. Novotny
Bachelors’ Theses
The rubber industry may be said to be one of the most speedily developed industries in the world. This is due to a great extent to the fact that the first real interest in rubber as a material of commerce came in the advent of the automobile. It was in 1888 that an Irish horse doctor, John Boyd Dunlop, conceived the idea of tying a rubber tube around the wheels of his little son's velocipede. Within seven years of this event, a $25,000,000 corporation was manufacturing Dunlop tires.
Something may also be said here of the man who took the …
Economics Of Supplying Electric Service To Downtown Areas Under Various Methods Of Distribution, Pericles P. Stathas
Economics Of Supplying Electric Service To Downtown Areas Under Various Methods Of Distribution, Pericles P. Stathas
Bachelors’ Theses
This thesis aims to present the problems involved in supplying electric service to downtown areas of high load density, with particular stress on the economies of rendering such a service. A considerable portion of the thesis is devoted to the new method of distribution, namely, the low-voltage A-C network.
