Elinvo (Electronics, Informatics, and Vocational Education)

Renewable energy is one of the options to meet the increasing energy needs. As a tropical country, Indonesia has great potential for solar energy development. At this time, solar panels have been built in places exposed to direct light. However, monitoring solar panels is still performed manually using a multimeter by operators or field officers, so it cannot be performed in real-time. Real-time tracking is carried out to prevent damage and decreased performance of solar panels. Hence, we designed a real-time solar panel monitoring system based Internet of Things (IoT) using the Blynk application on a smartphone. Based on the …

Design And Development Of Aluminum Frame Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Hexacopter Configuration To Support Heavy Payload, Ulfah Mediaty Arief, Pramudyo Wicaksono, Indah Novi Yarman

Elinvo (Electronics, Informatics, and Vocational Education)

Previous research has proven that the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) can increase the efficiency of human work. However, the design of the usefulness of UAV is considered to be limited. This limitation, for example, is that the UAV's lifting capacity is only capable of lifting 3-5 kilograms of load on average. In addition, the main material of the UAV frame also uses carbon fiber produced by build-up factories abroad, this makes the UAV design less economical. Furthermore, this study discusses the development of the UAV's lifting capacity of 25 kilograms to be able to lift the pesticide liquid …

An Efficient Integrated Circuit Simulator And Time Domain Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis, Jiahua Li Dec 2022

An Efficient Integrated Circuit Simulator And Time Domain Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis, Jiahua Li

Electrical Engineering Theses and Dissertations

In this paper, we revisit time-domain adjoint sensitivity with a circuit theoretic approach and an efficient solution is clearly stated in terms of device level. Key is the linearization of the energy storage elements (e.g., capacitance and inductance) and nonlinear memoryless elements (e.g., MOS, BJT DC characteristics) at each time step. Due to the finite precision of computation, numerical errors that accumulate across timesteps can arise in nonlinear elements.

In Band Full Duplex For Wireless Communication, A Medium Access Control Perspective, Yazeed Alkhrijah

Electrical Engineering Theses and Dissertations

In-band full duplex (IBFD) for wireless communication is defined as the ability of a node to send and receive data simultaneously by using the same frequency band. IBFD has the potential to double the spectral efficiency of wireless networks. In addition, IBFD improves security by mystifying any eavesdropper with multiple transmitted signals in a single frequency. Also, IBFD reduces the end-to-end transmission delay and solves the hidden terminal and exposed terminal problems. However, IBFD suffers from self-interference. Canceling self-interference (SI) is the main challenge in enabling IBFD. Another challenge for IBFD is to manage access to the network. IEEE802.11 are …

Distributed Detection In Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks, Ghazaleh Ardeshiri Dec 2022

Distributed Detection In Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks, Ghazaleh Ardeshiri

Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2020-2023

A conventional wireless sensor networks (WSN), consisting of sensors powered by nonrechargeable batteries, has a strictly limited lifetime. Energy harvesting (EH) from the environment is a promising solution to address the energy constraint problem in conventional WSNs, and to render these networks to self-sustainable networks with perpetual lifetimes. In EH-powered WSNs, where sensors are capable of harvesting and storing energy, power control is necessary to balance the rates of energy harvesting and energy consumption for data transmission. In addition, wireless communication channels change randomly in time due to fading. These together prompt the need for developing new power control strategies …

Domain Aware Deep Learning For Wireless Physical Layer, Shuvam Chakraborty

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

Wireless receiver design for OFDM systems is well investigated with classical signal processing tools, which lack the capacity to extract intrinsic channel effects in received signal and lead to high decoding error in receiver. Current deep learning techniques have shown improvement in such cases. But these models are mostly being developed as black box without any anchor to the theory of wireless signal propagation, which leads to surface level information gain and lacks generalizability. We propose deep learning models where the hyperparameters and learning objectives are derived from domain knowledge of wireless signal propagation. These models not only increase the …

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications

Lung segmentation plays an important role in computer-aided detection and diagnosis using chest radiographs (CRs). Currently, the U-Net and DeepLabv3+ convolutional neural network architectures are widely used to perform CR lung segmentation. To boost performance, ensemble methods are often used, whereby probability map outputs from several networks operating on the same input image are averaged. However, not all networks perform adequately for any specific patient image, even if the average network performance is good. To address this, we present a novel multi-network ensemble method that employs a selector network. The selector network evaluates the segmentation outputs from several networks; on …
