This study examines potential bias with respect to perceived gender and ethnicity in preservice teachers’ professional noticing of children’s mathematical thinking. The goal of the study was to explore how, and to what extent bias emerges within pre-service teachers’ professional noticing of children of differing perceived races and genders. Our findings suggest that bias tends to emerge in the interpreting phase of professional noticing; however, such emergence did not appear to vary in conjunction with the perceived ethnicity and gender of the student. Further, our findings suggest that the inclusion of visual imagery (i.e. photos) influence the manifestation of bias …

The purpose of this action research study was to observe the effects of vocabulary learning tools and reflective journaling on student confidence. Participants were from three classes of 15-20 students who attend math class for 45-90 minutes each weekday in a suburban high school setting. They were assigned Frayer Model vocabulary learning tables, as well as three journal prompts a week regarding either mathematics content or personal thoughts on classroom activities. This study aims to determine the effect of school fees, age and gender on children’s education level in Indonesia. Variables in school fees are school fees, equipment and transportation. The age variable is the sample that is aged 15 to 25 years. Gender variables consist of male and female. This study uses secondary data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey 5 (IFLS 5). The sample in this study were 2,601 respondents. It employs regression analysis and quantitative approach. It proves that there is a significant effect between school fees, age and gender on children's education levels.

Reading is a language modality in which the sense of urgency is palpable despite the task difficulty. This study examined the hypotheses that CSR improves reading comprehension and fosters positive perceptions of the implementations. The result supported that using CSR produced levels of reading comprehension superior to conventional teaching instruction. The analysis of posttest among the groups revealed 5.56 greater effects for students in the experimental group. The t-test also reported that students had favorable impressions about CSR implementation. They recognized some reading strategies of CSR which assisted them at most in elevating comprehension.

Understanding human treatment towards nature provides insight into mitigating human induced environmental issues. This study determines whether individuals’ relationships with nature (NR), emotions experienced during evidence evaluation, and conservation concern drive evaluation of arguments made about biodiversity conservation. Although we predicted that participants with strong NR would exhibit motivated reasoning, resulting in strong argument-evaluation skills as they evaluate an anti-conservation argument, we found that participants’ emotions during evidence evaluation were more predictive of their argument-evaluation skills. Further, participants with either low or high conservation concern demonstrated better argumentation skills. These findings suggest that while fostering strong relationships with nature may …
