Background: Mainstream media is increasingly reporting on the relationships between Catholic and trans identities in parochial schools, particularly with regard to gendered washroom use. With greater numbers of trans youth coming out at younger ages, significant educational policy changes are being considered around how Catholic schools can or should include trans youth. Method: This study applies trans and queer theologies to Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) in investigating the Wilson case, which was the first known instance of a Catholic school including some affirming policy provisions for trans youth. Arts teachers undertake a multitude of extracurricular activities. Yet, while these activities consume considerable time and require specific expertise, little attention is afforded to developing these skills and expertise during pre-service training. This article presents findings from a study into the value of a pre-service teacher production as a form of professional development, from both the technical and personal development perspectives. Thirty pre-service secondary Arts teachers participated in the production. Through focus-group interviews, participants indicated the benefits of building technical understanding as well as personal benefits of engaging in an ensemble experience. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาการได้ยินภายในสำหรับการอ่านโน้ตตามแนวคิดโคดายสำหรับนักเรียนเปียโนระดับชั้นต้นโดยสร้างแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้และนำไปพัฒนาตามผลการทดลองและคำแนะนำของผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิการวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยและพัฒนา โดยใช้ระเบียบวิจัยชั้นเรียน (action research) ใช้การคัดเลือกนักเรียนเปียโนระดับชั้นต้นที่มีอายุ 7-10 ปี จากสตูดิโอ บีบีพี มิวสิค (BBP MUSIC) จำนวน 10 คน แต่หลังจากเกิดเหตุการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโรคโควิด-19 ผู้วิจัยได้ทำปรับเปลี่ยนวิธีการทดลองใช้แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้เป็นการสอนออนไลน์ และมีผู้เรียนที่สะดวกเข้าร่วมการวิจัย จำนวน 2 คน ในการพัฒนาแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ใช้การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลจากการทดลองใช้แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ ฉบับนำร่อง และจากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ 3 ท่าน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการตีความ สร้างข้อสรุปแบบอุปนัยและนำเสนอเป็นความเรียง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) การพัฒนาการได้ยินภายในสำหรับการอ่านโน้ตตามแนวคิดโคดายในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ผู้วิจัยใช้แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ที่พัฒนาขึ้นเป็นเครื่องมือหลัก ซึ่งมีจำนวน 10 แผน แต่ละแผนใช้เวลา 30 นาที สำหรับเนื้อหาด้านจังหวะ ได้แก่ โน้ตตัวดำ เขบ็ดหนึ่งชั้น และโน้ตตัวหยุดตัวดำ โดยใช้การสอนตามรูปแบบจังหวะ ทา ทีที ด้านระดับเสียง ได้แก่ ลา ซอล มี เร โด ในการสอนและวัดประเมินผลเน้นทักษะด้านการอ่าน การร้อง และการฟัง โดยนำหลักการสอนตามแนวคิดโคดายที่สำคัญมาประยุกต์ใช้ในการสอน เช่น การใช้สัญญาณมือ การใช้สัญลักษณ์แทนจังหวะ และการอ่านรูปแบบจังหวะ ทา ทีที เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้ยังมีเอกสารประกอบการจัดการเรียนการสอนอื่น ๆ ได้แก่ โครงการสอนระยะยาว แบบทดสอบก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน และแบบสังเกตพฤติกรรมระหว่างเรียน 2) ในการสร้างแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ ผู้วิจัยได้ศึกษาแนวคิด ทฤษฎีและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง เพื่อนำมาวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลและสร้างเป็นแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ ฉบับนำร่อง จากนั้นผู้วิจัยได้คัดเลือกบางส่วนไปทดลองใช้ เพื่อศึกษาพฤติกรรมการเรียนรู้ของผู้เรียนแล้วนำผลที่ได้มาพัฒนาเป็น แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ ฉบับปรับปรุง จากนั้นผู้วิจัยได้นำไปให้ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิตรวจสอบและปรับปรุงแก้ไขตามคำแนะนำอีกครั้ง เพื่อพัฒนาเป็นแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ (ฉบับสมบูรณ์) 3) ในการทดลองใช้แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ที่สร้างขึ้นผ่านการเรียนการสอนออนไลน์ พบว่ามีข้อจำกัดในด้านสัญญาณอินเทอร์เน็ตจึงทำให้ไม่สามารถจัดกิจกรรมที่ผู้สอนและผู้เรียนจำเป็นต้องมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กัน เช่น การร้องเพลงพร้อมกัน การปรบมือตามจังหวะ และการร้องออกเสียงสลับกับร้องในใจ 4) ในการทดลองใช้แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ที่สร้างขึ้น พบว่า ผู้เรียนทั้งสองคนมีผลคะแนนจากการทดสอบหลังเรียนเพิ่มขึ้นในภาพรวม โดยเฉพาะในแบบทดสอบ ตอนที่ 1 ที่เป็นการวัดประเมินด้านจังหวะ และตอนที่ 4 …

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษากลวิธีการบรรเลงกลองมลายูสายครูพริ้ง กาญจนะผลิน 2) ศึกษากลวิธีการถ่ายทอดทักษะการบรรเลงกลองมลายู ของครุศิลปินต้นแบบสายครูพริ้ง กาญจนะผลิน เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากกลุ่มตัวอย่าง ด้านเอกสารและด้านบุคคล ทำการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ให้ข้อมูล 3 กลุ่ม ด้วยวิธีการเลือกแบบเจาะจง (Purposive sampling) ได้แก่ 1) ผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลัก คือ ครูนิเวศน์ ฤาวิชา (ครุศิลปินต้นแบบ) 2) กลุ่มผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านเครื่องตีและเครื่องหนังไทยของกรมศิลปากรที่สืบสายครูพริ้ง กาญจนะผลิน และ3) กลุ่มผู้เรียนที่เรียนกับครุศิลปินต้นแบบ ทำการสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม (Participant Observation) วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยวิธีวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (Content Analysis) ร่วมกับการตีความ (Interpretive Approch) และตรวจสอบข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการแบบสามเส้า (Triangulation Approach) ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1. กลวิธีการบรรเลงกลองมลายูสายครูพริ้ง กาญจนะผลิน มีรายละเอียดดังนี้ 1.1 ความเป็นมาของกลวิธีการบรรเลงกลองมลายูสายครูพริ้ง กาญจนะผลิน พบว่ามีต้นทางขององค์ความรู้จากครูช้อย สุนทรวาทิน ที่ได้ทำการส่งต่อองค์ความรู้ไปยังพระยาประสานดุริยศัพท์ (แปลก ประสานศัพท์) พระยาเสนาะดุริยางค์ (แช่ม สุนทรวาทิน) พระประดับดุริยกิจ (แหยม วีณิน) และพระพาทย์บรรเลงรมย์ (พิมพ์ วาทิน) จวบจนกระทั่งครูพริ้ง กาญจนะผลิน ทำการส่งต่อองค์ความรู้ด้านพื้นฐานการบรรเลงกลองมลายูไปยังครูนิเวศน์ ฤาวิชา 1.2 กลวิธีการบรรเลงกลองมลายูสายครูพริ้ง กาญจนะผลิน ได้แก่ 1) พื้นฐานการบรรเลง ประกอบไปด้วย ท่านั่ง 2 แบบ ได้แก่ ท่านั่งบรรเลงกลองมลายูตัวผู้และท่านั่งบรรเลงกลองมลายูตัวเมีย การจับไม้ 2 แบบ ได้แก่ การจับไม้กลองมลายูตัวผู้ และการจับไม้กลองมลายูตัวเมีย การดีดไม้ 2 แบบ ได้แก่ การดีดไม้กลองมลายูตัวผู้ มีขั้นตอนในการดีดไม้ 5 ขั้นตอน และการดีดไม้กลองมลายูตัวเมีย มีขั้นตอนในการดีดไม้ 4 ขั้นตอน และเทคนิคการทำเสียงกลองมลายูแบบต่าง ๆ …

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพการจัดการเรียนการสอนรายวิชาทักษะปฏิบัติจะเข้ในหลักสูตรครุศาสตรบัณฑิต และ 2) นำเสนอแนวทางการจัดการเรียนการสอนรายวิชาทักษะปฏิบัติจะเข้ในหลักสูตรครุศาสตรบัณฑิต ใช้ระเบียบวิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากเอกสาร และการสัมภาษณ์ ผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ประกอบด้วย อาจารย์ผู้สอนจะเข้จำนวน 6 คน บัณฑิตเครื่องมือเอกจะเข้ จำนวน 14 คน และผู้เชี่ยวชาญ จำนวน 3 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบวิเคราะห์เอกสารและแบบสัมภาษณ์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยการจำแนกประเภท การตีความ การสร้างข้อสรุปแบบอุปนัย และนำเสนอผลการวิจัยเป็นความเรียง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. สภาพการจัดการเรียนการสอน (1) ด้านวัตถุประสงค์ครอบคลุมตามจุดประสงค์การเรียนรู้ในด้านทักษะพิสัย พุทธิพิสัย และจิตพิสัย (2) ด้านเนื้อหาสาระ ประกอบด้วย ลักษณะการบรรเลง วิธีการบรรเลง บทเพลง การแสดง กระบวนการถ่ายทอด และบริบทด้านอื่น ๆ (3) ด้านกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอน ใช้วิธีการที่หลากหลาย เชื่อมโยงระหว่างภาคปฏิบัติและภาคทฤษฎี และมีความยืดหยุ่น (4) ด้านสื่อการสอน ใช้เครื่องดนตรี สิ่งพิมพ์ สื่อผสมและเทคโนโลยี ห้องเรียนดนตรี และอื่น ๆ (5) ด้านการวัดและประเมินผลครอบคลุมในช่วงเวลาก่อนเรียน ระหว่างเรียน และหลังเรียน ด้วยวิธีการทดสอบทักษะปฏิบัติ การประเมินผลตามสภาพจริง และอื่น ๆ ประเมินผลแบบอิงเกณฑ์และเน้นทั้งกระบวนการและผลงาน 2. แนวทางการจัดการเรียนการสอน แบ่งออกเป็น 5 ด้าน ประกอบด้วย 1) วัตถุประสงค์ ควรพัฒนาทักษะการบรรเลงจะเข้และการแสดงดนตรี องค์ความรู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องในการสอนทักษะและความรู้ของจะเข้ และเจตคติต่อการเรียนทักษะปฏิบัติจะเข้ 2) เนื้อหาสาระควรกำหนดในด้านลักษณะการบรรเลงจะเข้ วิธีการบรรเลงจะเข้ บทเพลง การแสดง การสอนทักษะและความรู้ของจะเข้ และบริบทด้านอื่น ๆ 3) กิจกรรมการเรียนการสอน ควรใช้เทคนิควิธีการสอนที่หลากหลาย เชื่อมโยงระหว่างภาคปฏิบัติและภาคทฤษฎี มีความยืดหยุ่น และส่งเสริมให้ผู้เรียนจัดการแสดงดนตรีในเชิงวิชาการและกึ่งวิชาการ 4) สื่อการสอน ควรใช้เครื่องดนตรี สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ สื่อผสมและเทคโนโลยี ห้องเรียนดนตรี และอื่น ๆ …

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาลำดับปัจจัยที่ส่งเสริมการสร้างคุณลักษณะความเป็นครูดนตรีไทยที่ดีของ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์สงบศึก ธรรมวิหาร และ 2) วิเคราะห์เอกลักษณ์ความเป็นครูดนตรีไทย ด้านการใช้หลักความเมตตาในการสอนและการอบรมบ่มนิสัย ของผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์สงบศึก ธรรมวิหาร โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก และการสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม ใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (content analysis) โดยศึกษาเอกสาร วิเคราะห์โดยการสร้างข้อสรุปแบบอุปนัย ตามแนวทางการวิจัยแบบสร้างทฤษฎีจากข้อมูล (grounded theory research) นำเสนอผลการวิจัยเป็นความเรียงและกรอบมโนทัศน์ ผลการวิจัย พบว่า ลำดับปัจจัยที่ส่งเสริมการสร้างคุณลักษณะความเป็นครูดนตรีไทยที่ดี ของ ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์สงบศึก ธรรมวิหาร มี 5 ขั้น ได้แก่ 1) รับรู้ ซึมซับ รับการสนับสนุน 2) มานะบากบั่น หมั่นแสวงหาโอกาส 3) มั่นคงหนักแน่น หวงแหนวัฒนธรรม 4) แตกฉานรอบด้าน บูรณาการอย่างเข้าใจ 5) เป็นแบบอย่างของความดี เป็นผู้มีบารมีด้วยความเมตตา และผลการวิจัยการใช้หลักความเมตตาในการสอนดนตรีไทย ของผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์สงบศึก ธรรมวิหาร แบ่งได้ 5 ประเด็น ดังนี้ 1) การให้ด้วยหลักจิตวิทยาเชิงบวก 2) การให้ด้วยหลักความเข้าใจในความแตกต่างของผู้เรียน 3) การให้ความรู้ที่ถูกต้อง 4) การให้ความรู้ที่ครบถ้วน และ 5) การให้ประสบการณ์ตรง

การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ พัฒนาแบบฝึกทักษะการด้นสดสำหรับผู้เรียนเปียโนในระดับประถม ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงวิจัยและพัฒนา (Research and Development) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย 1. แบบประเมินแบบฝึก แบ่งออกเป็น การประเมินเนื้อหาภายในโดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญและ การประเมินการใช้แบบฝึกโดยครูสอนเปียโน 2. แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบมีโครงสร้าง (Structured Interview) ผู้ให้ข้อมูลคือ ครูสอนเปียโนที่มีนักเรียนเปียโนอยู่ในระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4-6 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (content analysis) และนำเสนอข้อมูลแบบความเรียง ผลการวิจัย การพัฒนาแบบฝึกทักษะการด้นสดสำหรับผู้เรียนเปียโนระดับประถม พบว่า ลักษณะแบบฝึกที่เหมาะกับผู้เรียนในระดับประถม ประกอบด้วยสิ่งสำคัญ 3 ส่วน ได้แก่ การกำหนดจุดมุ่งหมายในการเรียนรู้ การกำหนดเนื้อหาที่ใช้ในแบบฝึก และ การกำหนดกิจกรรมภายในแบบฝึก และในการพัฒนาแบบฝึกทักษะการด้นสดสำหรับผู้เรียนเปียโนในระดับประถมแบ่งผลการรายงานออกเป็น 2 ส่วน ได้แก่ 1. การพัฒนาแบบฝึก ซึ่งแบ่งขั้นตอนการพัฒนาออกเป็น 4 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1.) การศึกษาข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเนื้อหาภายในแบบฝึก 2.) การพัฒนาแบบฝึกทักษะ D1 3.) การประเมินแบบฝึก D1 โดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญเพื่อประเมินเนื้อหาในแต่ละด้านของแบบฝึก และ 4.) การพัฒนาแบบฝึกทักษะ D2 และ 2. ผลการประเมินแบบฝึก D2 และข้อเสนอแนะอื่น ๆ โดยครูสอนเปียโนจำนวน 8 คน และจากการประเมินแบบฝึกทักษะ D2 พบว่าอยู่ในระดับเกณฑ์ดี ในด้านของคำแนะนำการนำไปใช้พบว่า แบบฝึกควรให้ความสำคัญในเรื่องของเวลาที่ใช้ในการศึกษาเนื้อหา และการลำดับในการทำกิจกรรมโดยเริ่มจากง่ายไปยาก

การวิจัยครั้งนี้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงวิจัยและพัฒนาโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อศึกษาและวิเคราะห์วิชาดนตรีหลักสูตรอังกฤษในโรงเรียนนานาชาติ 2) เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ดนตรีไทยตามแนวคิดพหุวัฒนธรรมในโรงเรียนนานาชาติ ประกอบไปด้วย (1) วัตถุประสงค์การเรียนรู้ (2) กิจกรรมที่เหมาะสม (3) บทเพลงที่คัดสรร (4) การประเมินผล กลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ ได้แก่ กลุ่มที่ 1 ผู้สอนดนตรีไทยในต่างประเทศ 3 ท่าน กลุ่มที่ 2 ผู้สอนดนตรีไทยในโรงเรียนนานาชาติ 3 ท่าน กลุ่มที่ 3 ผู้สอนดนตรีในโรงเรียนนานาชาติที่ดำเนินการสอนตามหลักสูตรอังกฤษ 3 ท่าน รวมทั้งหมด 9 ท่าน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในงานวิจัยคือแบบสัมภาษณ์ และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยการวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) เนื้อหาและทักษะดนตรีปรากฏในแต่ละช่วงชั้น สรุปได้ดังนี้ ช่วงชั้นที่ 1 ได้แก่ ทักษะการขับร้อง ทักษะการเล่น และทักษะการฟัง ช่วงชั้นที่ 2 ได้แก่ ทักษะการขับร้อง ทักษะการเล่น ทักษะการฟัง การประพันธ์เพลง การด้นสด การอ่านโน้ตดนตรี และประวัติศาสตร์ดนตรี ช่วงชั้นที่ 3 ได้แก่ ทักษะการขับร้อง ทักษะการเล่น และทักษะการฟัง การประพันธ์เพลง การด้นสด และ การอ่านโน้ตดนตรี ประวัติศาสตร์ดนตรี และ การประยุกต์ใช้องค์ประกอบดนตรี โดยการจัดเนื้อหาดนตรีในวิชาดนตรีของหลักสูตรอังกฤษนั้นเป็นแบบ Spiral Curriculum โดยเนื้อหาในการจัดเรียงนั้นมีความต่อเนื่อง เชื่อมโยงกัน โดยจะเพิ่มประสบการณ์เรียนรู้ให้ผู้เรียนให้ลึกซึ้งและกว้างขึ้นในแต่ละระดับชั้น 2) แนวทางการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ดนตรีไทยตามแนวคิดพหุวัฒนธรรมในโรงเรียนนานาชาติ สรุปได้ดังนี้ (1) วัตถุประสงค์การเรียนรู้ ควรคำนึงถึงผู้เรียนและบริบทสังคมเป็นศูนย์กลางและศึกษาความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมของผู้เรียนเพื่อหาลักษณะร่วมเพื่อใช้เป็นพื้นฐานในการจัดการเรียนการสอน (2) กิจกรรมที่เหมาะสม ควรมุ่งเน้นการลงมือปฏิบัติผ่านทักษะดนตรีต่าง ๆ พร้อมทั้งมุ่งเน้นทั้งด้านทักษะทางดนตรีและสุนทรียทางดนตรี กิจกรรมและเนื้อหาควรมีความหลายหลายทางวัฒนธรรม พร้อมทั้งเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้เรียนได้แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็น เพื่อส่งเสริมความสำคัญของการเคารพและยอมรับในความแตกต่าง (3) บทเพลงที่คัดสรร ควรมีความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมโดยสอดแทรกเนื้อหาผ่านบทเพลงต่าง ๆ ทั้งนี้บทเพลงควรมีความง่ายและมีทำนองซ้ำเพื่อง่ายต่อผู้เรียนที่ไม่คุ้นชินกับเพลงไทย (4) การประเมินผล เป็นการประเมินผลตามสภาพจริงที่มีความยืดหยุ่นและสามารถประเมินผู้เรียนที่มีความแตกต่างกันได้อย่างเหมาะสม โดยประเมินระหว่างเรียน หลังเรียนและประเมินการแสดงผลงานดนตรี

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเกณฑ์การประเมินการอิมโพรไวส์ในดนตรีแจ๊สในระดับอุดมศึกษา ใช้ระเบียบวิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยใช้การวิเคราะห์เอกสารและการสัมภาษณ์ ผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญประกอบด้วย อาจารย์ผู้สอนวิชาเครื่องเอกดนตรีแจ๊สจากประเทศไทย 3 คน อาจารย์ผู้สอนวิชาเครื่องเอกดนตรีแจ๊สจาก ต่างประเทศ 3 คน และ ศิลปินดนตรีแจ๊ส จำนวน 3 คน เครื่องมือการวิจัยได้แก่ แบบสัมภาษณ์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า เกณฑ์การประเมินอิมโพรไวส์ประกอบด้วย 1) ความรู้ความเข้าใจซึ่งประกอบด้วย จังหวะ บทเพลง องค์ประกอบที่ใช้ในการอิมโพรไวส์ ภาษาแจ๊ส โมทีฟ ประโยค-วลี 2) ความไพเราะ ประกอบด้วย ความถูกต้องของระดับเสียงความสมดุลกับวงดนตรีความดัง-เบาแนวบรรเลงประกอบการอ่านโน้ตฉับพลัน 3) การแสดงบนเวที ก่อนการแสดง ระหว่างการแสดง และ 4) ทักษะการบรรเลงอิมโพรไวส์ ประกอบด้วย ความคิดสร้างสรรค์ในการอิมโพรไวส์ความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ในการอิมโพรไวส์ เกณฑ์เหล่านี้สอดคล้องกับเกณฑ์การประเมินของ The University of Rhode Island ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา และ Azzara and Snell ประเทศอังกฤษ

This quantitative study investigated the effects of an online training program in applied behavior analysis (ABA) on stress levels of parents that have a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The online ABA training program is comprised of 22 videos which take a total of 4½ hours to complete. Parenting stress levels were assessed using the Parenting Stress Inventory Short Form (PSI-SF, Abidin, 1995) and general stress levels were self-reported scores immediately before and after the training. This qualitative case study examines the perspectives of leaders of five intensive English programs (IEPs) about their departments’ positions at U.S. public universities as well as their perceptions of the directors’ roles in developing visibility on campuses. The data was collected through interviewing and analyzed using the Constant Comparative Method which produced five distinctive themes: planned happenstance; belonging; funding; work with university; director’s role. The aim of this study was to explore and understand the relationship between mindfulness practices and actual leadership practices. This qualitative study utilized narrative inquiry with phenomenological interviewing techniques to explore selective leaders who use mindfulness practices, and see how they used mindfulness in their leadership practice. Sixteen in-depth interviews were conducted and thematic analysis was utilized.
