Educational technology is a learning tool that helps lecturers enhance learning through instructional practices; however, it is unclear why lecturers have difficulties adopting technology. The purpose of this study was to examine how lecturers’ self-efficacy at one college in Antigua and Barbuda influenced their technology adoption in terms of their instructional practices, including perceived barriers and supports for technology use. The conceptual frameworks for this study were Bandura’s self-efficacy theory and Rogers’ diffusion of innovation. Media rich video provides attributes such as animation, narration, and music that can be incorporated into learning modules which have high potential to promote learning. This project evaluated the impact of transitioning a learning module from static PowerPoint slides to animated (media rich) video on employee satisfaction, engagement, and knowledge retention. Learner satisfaction and engagement was measured using a validated survey instrument designed to evaluate the effectiveness, appeal, and efficiency of the animated video about Hospice and Palliative Care. This scoping review examines the role of failure and loss within game-based instructional interventions. Because of the varied methods and relatively small number of articles directly addressing the intersection between failure and loss within game-based instructional interventions, a scoping review was undertaken. The current literature discusses the use and benefits of learner-generated videos (LGVs). However, it rarely addresses any correlation between the types of subjects that are best suited for using these videos or what techniques should accompany the use of LGVs.

Background

This systematic review synthesizes current literature to identify patterns and implications that develop from the use of LGVs so that their future use can be both consistent and effective. This paper also reviews the studies to establish the most consistent educational benefits that emerge from this activity.
