As schools are adopting the whole child approach, it is important to examine how the approach impacts academic success. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a school-based mindfulness curriculum on student reading scores and classroom engagement. Using a multiple baseline design, this study examined the rate of improvement in reading scores and academic engagement in elementary students receiving a mindfulness curriculum. The curriculum was introduced in addition to the regular curriculum in 15-minute lessons twice a week. effect on at-risk students when used with a Language Arts course. SuccessMaker Reading

is a web-based system that provides reading skills practice that align with state standards.

from a Midwestern suburban middle school district during the fall of the 2017-2018

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาของนิสิตนักศึกษาครู สาขาวิชาประถมศึกษา 2) เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษากับพฤติกรรมการสอนของนิสิตนักศึกษาครู สาขาวิชาประถมศึกษา และ 3) เพื่อสังเคราะห์แนวทางการหล่อหลอมความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาของนิสิตนักศึกษาครู สาขาวิชาประถมศึกษา มีแบบแผนการวิจัยเป็นวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน ประกอบด้วย การวิจัยเชิงปริมาณและการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ กลุ่มตัวอย่างการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ คือ นิสิตนักศึกษาครูชั้นปีที่ 5 สาขาวิชาประถมศึกษา จำนวน 274 คน โดยใช้วิธีการสุ่มแบบหลายขั้นตอน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ แบบสอบถาม กลุ่มตัวอย่างการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ คือ อาจารย์มหาวิทยาลัยประจำสาขาวิชาประถมศึกษา วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการหาค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าร้อยละ ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และหาค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) ความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาของนิสิตนักศึกษาครู สาขาวิชาประถมศึกษามีแนวโน้มไปทางความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาพิพัฒนนิยมมากที่สุด อันดับรองลงมา ได้แก่ อัตถิภาวนิยม นิรันตรนิยม ปฏิรูปนิยม และสารัตถนิยม ตามลำดับ 2) ความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาในแต่ละสาขาของนิสิตนักศึกษาครู สาขาวิชาประถมศึกษาไม่มีความสัมพันธ์กับพฤติกรรมการสอนตามแนวความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาในสาขาเดียวกัน นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่า ความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาปฏิรูปนิยม มีความสัมพันธ์ในทางบวกกับพฤติกรรมการสอนตามแนวความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาสารัตถนิยมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 และความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาอัตถิภาวนิยม มีความสัมพันธ์ในทางลบกับพฤติกรรมการสอนตามแนวความเชื่อเชิงปรัชญาการศึกษาสารัตถนิยมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .01 และ 3) พบว่า มีการนำแนวคิดทางปรัชญาการศึกษาพิพัฒนนิยมมาเป็นแนวทางในการจัดการศึกษา โดยหล่อหลอมผ่านกิจกรรมการลงมือปฏิบัติจริง ผลที่เกิดขึ้นส่วนใหญ่สอดคล้องกับปรัชญาของหลักสูตรและความคาดหวังของรายวิชา ซึ่งถือว่าได้ผลสำเร็จในภาพรวม

This study explores process of selecting picture books influenced by child reader’s identity. 44 second-grade students’ responses about picture book selection were collected by sign response gathering test and focused student interviews. The child readers showed diverse preferences on components of picture book’s cover. The perspectives of participants were largely derived from their identity formed by gender-separated peer groups, especially for boys: the boys selected books on the basis of their gender-biased beliefs compared with girls. This case study examines a Chinese and Korean-Chinese pre-service teachers’ perceptions of their mentor teachers’ role in supporting inclusive practicum experiences in U.S. elementary school contexts. The findings demonstrate that a mentor teacher’s open conversations and willingness to host those students bring positive influence on their learning and growth. The findings also indicate that the facilitative roles of mentor teachers in the promotion of inclusive environments are intersected with the socio-cultural and political contexts of practicum schools and universities. This study analyzed students' use of diverse sources for a history-based writing assignment on Abraham Lincoln. Participants includes 41 students in a fifth grade self-contained classroom in rural Illinois. The study was conducted during students' 30-minute writing period, every day for six weeks. During this time period, students close-read trade books and primary sources to collect research on Lincoln. Students also gathered additional information during their field trip to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Trade books offer opportunity for interdisciplinary units to develop through the rise of informational text use in both English/language arts and history/social studies.
