From an early age, we engage in building our narrative language through social interactions. These narrative language skills influence academic success. Many educational establishments focus solely on academic achievement. A focus on supporting emotional intelligence that can support narrative language development is imperative. In this ethnography study, students were taught feeling words lessons from RULER, a social-emotional learning curriculum. Using observations and interviews, I sought to understand how early childhood students apply emotional feeling words into their narrative language. Multicultural Perceptions of Creativity examined perceptions of creativity among eight creatively gifted adults from diverse backgrounds who have a profession in an arts related field. This study examined what the phenomenon of creativity is and how it is experienced. The beliefs that inform perceptions of creativity were explored. The experiences that inform perceptions of creativity were described. The interactions among beliefs and experiences were considered. The data collected revealed that creativity is an instinct that each person possesses and can activate within themselves. Creativity can be nurtured based on environment and through personal, educational, professional, and cultural experiences. Creativity involves …

While there is a strong literature base demonstrating the importance of early literacy interventions for monolingual learners at-risk for reading difficulties, little research exists on how to effectively support the literacy needs and language assets of emergent bilinguals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of an evidence-based reading intervention with a translanguaging component, on vocabulary outcomes for first grade emergent bilinguals. Addressing Racial Disparities Through K-12 School-Based Culturally Relevant Interventions, Dina Malala

This meta-analysis systematically identified culturally relevant interventions for Black students in K-12 school settings to determine (a) the effect of culturally relevant reading interventions on reading comprehension and reading fluency (b) the effect of culturally relevant behavioral interventions on student behaviors (c) the extent to which culturally relevant interventions impact cultural identity and awareness (d) how cultural identity moderates academic and behavioral outcomes. Twelve studies were identified. Overall, there was a statistically significant combined effect across the twelve studies (g = 0.96, p < 0.05). There was a statistically significant effect of culturally relevant reading interventions on reading outcomes (g =1.174, p < 0.05), a statistically significant effect of culturally relevant behavior interventions on behavior outcomes (g = 0.889, p < 0.05), and a statistically significant effect of cultural identity interventions on cultural awareness and identity (g =0. 914, p < 0.05). The primary limitation of this meta-analysis are the mainstream and standardized dependent variables. Future intervention research is needed that utilizes both culturally relevant independent and dependent variables to better support this population.

The purpose of this causal-comparative study was to examine the effect of using science specialists in elementary schools on science achievement scores. The sample population consisted of 282 fifth grade students enrolled in Georgia public schools. The data for this study was collected from four public elementary schools’ end-of-year state assessments and analyzed as archival data. An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to determine if there was a difference between science achievement scores in elementary schools that use science specialists compared to those that do not. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) often require additional support, compared to their neurotypical peers. Caregivers of individuals with ASD frequently report mental health impacts including high stress, as well as the need for familial support. While literature exists around grandparents raising children with ASD, the researcher was unable to identify studies regarding the complex care relationship between mothers and maternal grandmothers as co-caregivers for an elementary-aged child with ASD. Within public education, it has been shown that there is a disproportionate rate of discipline between Black and White students. A literature review was conducted to identify prevailing themes as to why this gap occurs, what factors maintain it, and what can educators do to reduce it. Elementary students’ early development of embedding and disembedding is complex and paves the way for later STEM learning. The purpose of this study was to clarify the factors that support students’ embedding (i.e., overlapping shapes to form a new shape) and disembedding (i.e., identifying discrete shapes within another shape) through the use of filled shapes as opposed to shape frames. "For this study, we reviewed documentation from and about the campaign’s loudest proponents, particularly national and local leaders. We analyzed anti 'CRT' websites, toolkits, Facebook groups, and media appearances to understand their shared language, tactics, and logic. We analyzed survey and interview data from educators affected through early fall 2021, drawing on survey responses from 275 members of a set of national teacher organizations that support teachers who tend toward teaching on race and diversity, as well as an interview study of 21 'equity officers' (EOs) in district diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) roles across the country. การวิจัยนี้มีจุดประสงค์ 1) เพื่อสังเคราะห์คุณลักษณะความเป็นครูมืออาชีพของครูประถมศึกษาในระดับนานาชาติ 2) เพื่อศึกษาสภาพจริงและสภาพที่พึงประสงค์ของความเป็นครูมืออาชีพของครูประถมศึกษาในกรุงเทพมหานคร กลุ่มตัวอย่างในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ประกอบด้วยครูประถมศึกษาในพื้นที่เขตกรุงเทพมหานครทั้ง 4 สังกัด ได้แก่ สังกัดสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน สังกัดสำนักงานคณะกรรมการส่งเสริมการศึกษาเอกชน สังกัดกรุงเทพมหานคร และสังกัดกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัย และนวัตกรรม จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 389 คนซึ่งได้มาด้วยวิธีการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบแบ่งชั้น และตัวอย่างสำหรับการสัมภาษณ์คือ ครูประถมศึกษาจำนวน 12 คน และครูเจ้าฟ้ามาหจักรีจำนวน 6 คน และเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล คือ แบบสัมภาษณ์และแบบสำรวจ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วย การใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) ผลการสังเคราะห์คุณลักษณะของความเป็นครูมืออาชีพของครูประถมศึกษาในระดับนานาชาติจากทฤษฎีและเอกสารที่เกี่ยวข้องจึงได้เกณฑ์ของคุณลักษณะของความเป็นครูมืออาชีพของครูประถมศึกษาทั้งหมด 5 ด้านประกอบด้วย ด้านพฤติกรรม ด้านการทำงานร่วมกับผู้อื่น ด้านความมีปฏิภาณไหวพริบ ด้านทัศนคติ และด้านความเชี่ยวชาญ 2) ผลการศึกษาสภาพจริงและสภาพที่พึงประสงค์ของความเป็นครูมืออาชีพของครูประถมศึกษาในกรุงเทพมหานคร เมื่อจำแนกตามสังกัดต่าง ๆ พบว่าภาพรวมครูประถมศึกษาส่วนใหญ่ให้คะแนนด้านพฤติกรรมมากที่สุด (x̄ = 4.84, S.D. = 0.12) ส่วนปัญหาที่พบคือการตรวจสอบประสิทธิภาพการทำงานของครูประถมศึกษาโดยควรมีการประเมินผลงานจากสถานการณ์จริง หรือบริบทสภาพจริง เพื่อสะท้อนคุณลักษณะความเป็นครูมืออาชีพของครูประถมศึกษาได้อย่างชัดเจนมากยิ่งขึ้น

The purpose of this dissertation was to understand non-tenured and tenured teachers’, administrators’, and literacy support staff’s perceptions of the most imperative practices new teachers should know to teach reading in local elementary schools located in one regional state university’s service region. As well, this dissertation sought to determine the degree to which there was alignment between what is being taught in reading methods classes at one regional, state university with those practices.
