The retention of postsecondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) faculty in community colleges is critical for maintaining a skilled workforce to meet evolving labor market demands. This study employs Q methodology to explore the subjective viewpoints of community college CTE faculty regarding factors influencing their job satisfaction and retention. Grounded in Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory of Motivation and Job Embeddedness Theory, the research integrates the concept of Employee Experience Management (EEM) to provide a comprehensive framework for understanding faculty retention. In 2016, legislation mandated the integration of computer science (CS) and computational thinking (CT) skills across K–12 instruction in the Commonwealth of Virginia. CT integration is also a focus in many schools throughout the United States. Educators must understand CT/CS core concepts and practices, looking for practical ways to integrate CT across the K–12 curricula. To address this, the current study was conducted. In Semester 1, I used the mobile hyflex equipment in lectures for two taught postgraduate modules and also for a research symposium, involving taught postgraduate students, research postgraduate students and staff. This provided me with the opportunity to experiment with the set up in three classroom sizes: a small seminar room (EQ-109), a medium-sized classroom (EQ-110) and a large classroom (EQ-116). The Panasonic IT360 speaker and camera device was extremely easy to set-up and enhanced the audio and visual interaction with students online, which was continued in the class recordings made available later on Brightspace. Despite the promising advantages of cutting-edge technologies like virtual laboratories (VL) for enhancing science education, a significant gap remains between their theoretical benefits and practical application, particularly in rural schools in the Global South. This article argues that the effective integration of VL is largely dependent on teachers’ perceptions of the technology. Research suggests that user acceptance issues, especially related to teachers’ views, are critical when introducing new technologies, including VL, into educational settings. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT has transformed higher education, offering innovative solutions for personalized learning and grading. This study investigates students’ perceptions and acceptance of AI-assisted grading compared to traditional teaching assistant (TA) grading using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The research explores how grading methods and exam formats influence key TAM constructs such as perceived usefulness, ease of use, and behavioral intentions. Findings suggest that mixed exam formats (70% multiple-choice, 30% short-answer) yield the highest acceptance rates for AI-assisted grading, emphasizing the importance of balanced assessment structures.
