The purpose of this mixed methods study was to investigate relationships between students’ ALEKS usage, teachers’ implementation of ALEKS, and student performance on the 2017 – 2018 LEAP 2025 mathematics assessment. The quantitative portion of the study involved district-level analyses and teacher-level analyses that explored relationships between students’ ALEKS usage and LEAP performance. The qualitative portion of the study took into consideration previous research findings that have reported associations between program implementation and student achievement. Demographic Characteristics And Information Technology Competence Skills On The Use Of E-Portal Among Undergraduates In Adeyemi College Of Education, Ondo, Christopher Omotunde, Opeyemi Omotunde

This study investigated the influence of demographic characteristics and information technology competence skills on the use of E-portal among undergraduates in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, Nigeria. The findings revealed a positive significant relationship between IT competence skill and their use of e-portal (r= .190, p<0.05). Gender has a significant influence on the use of e-portal (t=2.071, p<0.05) also, respondents age has a significant influence on use of e-portal (F _{(3; 246)} =2.892; p<0.05). The study concluded that IT competence skills and demographic characteristics of undergraduates have an influence on the use of E-portal. It is recommended that higher institutions of learning in Nigeria should further explore the potentials of E-portal for its teaching, learning and research.

As scientific knowledge grows and the planet’s human population makes unprecedented changes, decision-making places more and more demands on the everyday democratic participant. Yet efforts to help the public acquire and make use of evidence-based information fall short. We present preliminary comparisons of three participatory design models of public engagement with science designed to encourage community action rather than just raise awareness in participants on local public health issues impacted by climate change. We collected survey data at two in-person community-based participatory dialogues and a museum exhibit and presented but received no surveys from televised versions of the participatory dialogues. …

The purpose of this project was to create training modules for the Cal Poly Dairy. The author’s goal was to incorporate the safety aspect of dairy work into the modules as well. To properly obtain all the necessary information for the modules, the author first had to compile lists from the Cal Poly Dairy’s written standard operating procedures. From here, the majority of time was used to gather video and picture content using a surface tablet that would later be used in the online modules. This case study describes how one department of education sought to increase knowledge of digital literacy amongst preservice teachers. Framed by the researchers’ Three-Tiered Model of instructional technology use, this project leveraged a community partnership and the implementation of “instructional rounds” to educate students in digital technologies. The mixed-methods study includes pre- and post-surveys results, structured observations, and student reflections. Initial findings indicate students’ enhanced digital literacy skills and a reciprocally beneficial partnership with teachers and administrators at a local high school. Ultimately, students who participated in this project led a community-wide professional development workshop.

This paper explores an evaluation of the Grove School District’s one-to-one iPad program, for the purpose of understanding the relationship between teacher support for the program and classroom use. The evaluation also explores the various factors that impact a successful one-to-one program, including leadership attitudes and professional development. Increasing Principal Candidates’ Self-Efficacy Through Virtual Coaching, Travis E. Lewis, Karen D. Jones

Skill development in instructional coaching and feedback is difficult to adequately simulate within a principal preparation program. As a result, many new administrators enter the field with little to no experience in instructional coaching and, therefore, feel tremendous uncertainty and low self-confidence. This study explored the effect a virtual coaching experience has on self-efficacy for principal preparation program students. Preservice teacher candidates were matched with principal candidates to provide virtual instructional coaching to the benefit of all involved. The findings of this study indicate that practice through virtual coaching is positively related to increased self-efficacy in principal candidates.
