Theories and discussions around historical consciousness explore the myriad ways our identities and contexts shape our interpretations and understandings of the past. In this paper, narrative and historical consciousness will be used as a lens to understand the choices pre-service teachers make in the way they “define” America within their lectures. A total of 16 recorded 20-minute lectures from six social studies pre-service teachers were transcribed and coded for their insight into how these future teachers taught about America. Dr. Alexandra Marchel’s article documents the work of the Holodomor National Awareness Tour (Canada-Ukraine Foundation), which runs an award-winning mobile classroom that travels across Canada, raising public awareness on the history of the state-orchestrated famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932-1933. Marchel explores her experience working as Program Manager and Educator for this public history project, a project that goes beyond the traditional walls of a classroom to show history as an act of creating civic engagement. This reflection explores the challenges and opportunities inherent in teaching and learning Canadian history when the majority of the learners – and the teacher herself – are first- and second-generation Canadians. The intersectionality and constructed-ness of identity, and the effects of individual versus collective memory on identity, can either alienate students from Canadian history or provide them with a variety of entry points into the subject. Food consumption has been largely researched in many areas. Most extant studies have highlighted the influences of socio-economic and cultural factors on people’s eating habits. These studies inform policy strategies by proposing campaigns and methods to improve nutritional intake among people of diverse socio-economic and geographical backgrounds. At the same time, they implicitly point out that food consumption may carry educational values that are co-constructed through food eaters’ engagement with the world. Transfer students often lose credits that they have earned for completing courses at previous institutions and face other complications during lateral transitions between public four-year institutions because the current process of transferring credits is awkward, which raises barriers to affordable, accessible, and accountable national-level transfers. Co-teaching has become one of the most popular service-delivery models that school districts use to incorporate students with disabilities in the general education settings. This phenomenological study reports how special education teachers and general education teachers at one Central Kentucky high school describes their perceptions and experiences with co-teaching. This study uses semi-structured interview to explore general education and special education teachers’ perceptions of their experiences with co-teaching and being a part of a co-teaching team.
