Family Engagement: Finding Parents’ Perspectives, Melissa Frans
UNO Student Research and Creative Activity Fair
The purpose of this classic grounded theory study is to define family engagement in a child’s education from the perspective of a mother. This study will bring to the surface what parents believe their role is in their children's education and develop an understanding of the gap between what research says that parents should do at home and what parents believe they should be doing at home. At this stage in the research, family engagement is a recommended focus for schools, and Steven Constantino (2016) goes as far to say that schools should establish a relationship with every family.

Future Farmers of America and the agriculture programs that it is integrated into are prime examples of what being a leader inhibits. The National FFA Organization states that, “they taught us that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting — it's a science, it's …

Journal of Science Education for Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities have long lagged behind their non-disabled peers when it comes to science achievement. The increased emphasis on STEM related careers and the use of science in everyday life makes learning science content and concepts critical for all students especially for those with disabilities. As suggested by the National Resource Council (2012), more emphasis is being placed on being able to critically think about science concepts in and outside of the classroom. Additionally, the Next Generation Science Standards are asking teachers and students to better understand how science is connected to the everyday world through the use of …

The cities are Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, New York City, San Antonio, and the District of Columbia. We utilize data on how much money is invested in public charter schools and TPS, what levels of student achievement are attained across the two public school sectors, and how much economic payoff our society can expect to receive as a result of the educational investments in each sector. Ours is the first study to examine …
