Djarlgarra Koolunger (Canning River kids) is a culturally centred outdoor learning project referred to as ‘On Country Learning’ or OCL. The project explores Aboriginal connectedness to the spiritual, social, cultural, environmental and geographic dimensions of particular outdoor spaces. This allows Indigenous and non- Indigenous students and their educators to connect at what Nakata (2007) terms the ‘cultural interface’. OCL offers opportunities to transform the ways in which schools engage with Aboriginal perspectives whilst facilitating deep learning through what we describe as culturally responsive pedagogies. The purpose of this study was to investigate if early childhood educators could reliably score items using a new scoring system for the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System for Infants and Children (AEPS; Bricker, 2002). The participants were university students completing their certification in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) at the University of Kentucky (UK). The six participants completed training on implementing the AEPS and administered the AEPS to measure child outcomes. The results of this study validated the new scoring system for the AEPS by illustrating that the participants could reliably score a curriculum based assessment.

The purpose of this study was to teach four preschool children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to wash their hands independently using a video modeling-based intervention package. A research questions was asked: Is there a functional relation between a video modeling-based intervention package and increases in level and trend for washing hands independently? A multiple probe across participants design was used to answer this question. Results indicated that the intervention package had functional relation with the increase in level and trend of the three participants’ performance in washing hands. The main purpose of this research synthesis was to determine recommendations that promote the development of a trauma-informed approach in Venezuelan schools to address the traumatic effects of political unrest in young children through a systematic review of existent intervention programs. After conducting an initial search, four studies were identified that studied the effectiveness of an intervention program in schools targeting trauma in children younger than 14 years old.

In this study, the author examined the effects of training four parents from low-socioeconomic environments to use Enhanced Milieu Teaching (EMT) with their young children with language impairment. The investigator used a modified Teach-Model-Coach-Review method to teach parents to use the following EMT strategies during 8-10 individualized, home-based sessions: matched turns, expansions, time delays and milieu teaching prompts. A single-case multiple-baseline design across-behaviors replicated across four parent/child dyads was used to evaluate the parents' use of the EMT strategies. The language in a child’s environment either supports or weakens the growth of conflict resolution skills. A study using the language sampled from three early childhood educators, (two in family childcare homes and one in a childcare center) found that those in family child care programs reported stronger beliefs that children can solve problems, teachers support the development of problem solving skills, and conflict can create opportunities for learning than was recorded in practice. This was determined with a frequency count of unilateral strategies employed during perceived conflict. This paper discusses what word walls are and how they are used in a classroom. The various types of word walls are introduced, as well as their uses for spelling and vocabulary. It looks at the impact that word walls have on the following groups of students in a classroom: students at grade level, students above grade level, students below grade level, and students with disabilities. This research is an analysis of campus child care centers in Ohio. In order to assess the quality and status of these centers, phone screenings with centers and a questionnaire completed by directors were utilized to learn of the characteristics of campus child care in Ohio.

Results of the questionnaire were separated into individual sections for quality, academic mission, support for student parents, and challenges. Through analysis of the results, campus child care centers provided quality programs. They assist in the needs of student parents and promote the academic mission of higher education institutions. Objective: The objective of this research is to determine whether the implementation of sensory activity schedule in a preschool classroom can increase the on-task behaviors of the students.

Methods: Three students were recruited to participate in a quantitative multiple single subject design with qualitative follow-up study. The participants performed sensorimotor activities before circle time and were monitored for frequency of their off-task behavior using a time sampling frequency data collection. Afterwards, the head teacher was interviewed to discuss the experience.

Results: Off-task behavior decreased from baseline on all three children, which supports the efficacy of sensory activity schedule in reducing …

Selective mutism (SM), an anxiety disorder wherein children have difficulty speaking or communicating when they are uncomfortable, is relevant for the early childhood population as symptoms often manifest upon school entry (Steinhausen & Juzi, 1996) and early treatment leads to better treatment prognosis (Oerbeck, Stein, Wentzel-Larsen, Langsrud & Kristensen, 2014). Bergman, Gonzalez, Piacentini and Keller, (2013) utilized an integrative behavioral treatment for children (ages 4-8) with SM and reported a 75% treatment responder status after 24 weeks of therapy. This qualitative study explored the affordances provided by the integration of the NAO humanoid robot in three preschool classrooms. Using the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework as a lens, the researchers qualitatively analyzed data from focus groups, observations, field notes and student artifacts, using grounded coding to uncover language and communication, physical, cognitive and social–emotional learning experiences for children. The researchers also examined interactions between the robot, children and teachers to identify successes and challenges experienced during the integration. Anthropomorphic robots are increasingly being used as a technology in early childhood settings, and they have been found to enhance social interaction (Tanaka, Cicourel & Movellan, 2007), support foreign language development (Mazzoni & Benvenuti, 2015), and gain student attention and interest (Ioannou, Andreou & Christofi, 2015). Furthermore, integrating a humanoid robot can provide affordances across all domains of the Head Start Learning Outcomes Framework: approaches to learning; social and emotional development; language and communication; cognition; and perceptual, motor and physical development.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทครูในการส่งเสริมพฤติกรรมความปลอดภัยของเด็กวัยอนุบาลใน 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ การจัดสภาพแวดล้อมที่ปลอดภัย การดูแลและปกป้องคุ้มครอง และการสอนเกี่ยวกับความปลอดภัย ตัวอย่างคือ ครูประจำชั้นอนุบาลในโรงเรียนสังกัดสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน จำนวน 397 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย แบบสอบถามและแบบสัมภาษณ์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้ความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า บทบาทครูในการส่งเสริมพฤติกรรมความปลอดภัยของผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามโดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด (X= 3.64) เมื่อพิจารณารายด้านพบว่า ทั้งสามด้านอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด ด้านที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุดคือ ด้านการดูแลและปกป้องคุ้มครอง (X= 3.76) รองลงมาคือ ด้านการจัดสภาพแวดล้อมที่ปลอดภัย (X= 3.75) และด้านที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยต่ำสุดคือ ด้านการสอนเกี่ยวกับความปลอดภัย (X= 3.52) ตามลำดับ
