The article adds to a growing conversation that recognizes and supports young children’s civic capabilities, positioning them as citizens-now and not simply citizens in the future. They detail how three different classrooms sought to work with children to engage in social action on behalf of their broader community. This response wonders alongside the authors about how adults can best work with children to support their civic action and proposes that teachers engage children’s visions for a more just, humanizing democratic society. This paper shares a participatory action research study conducted by a team of researchers at a university laboratory school in collaboration with three classroom teachers and 60 preschoolers. The team engaged in this research in order to examine the ways in which school personnel could generate more authentic community service experiences with, rather than simply for, children. Findings illustrate that with the support of adults, children generated ways to address issues, discussed their ideas with adults, reflected on their actions, and understood that their voices were being heard beyond the school community. هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى استقصاء فاعلية برنامج تعليمي قائم على اللعب في تحصيل أطفال الروضة للمفاهيم البيئية وتنمية اتجاهاتهم نحو البيئة، وقد تم اختيار أفراد عيّنة الدراسة والبالغ عددهم(168) طفلا من روضتي القبس الحديثة، والنهضة الخيرية التابعتين لمديرية التربية والتعليم لقصبة معانقصديا، وتم توزيعها عشوائيا على مجموعتي الدراسة (85) طفلا في المجموعة التجريبية و (83) طفلا في المجموعة الضابطة . أشارت النتائج إلى وجود أثر للبرنامج التعليمي ولصالح المجموعة التجريبية في تحصيل الأطفال المفاهيم البيئة وتنمية اتجاهاتهم نحو البيئة، في حين لم يظهر أثر للبرنامج حسب متغيّر الجنس في تحصيل الأطفال للمفاهيم البيئية، ولكن ظهر في تنمية الاتجاهات نحو البيئة …

Understanding Child Noncompliance In The Early Care Setting, Melody Mann

This study examines how teachers respond to children’s noncompliance in early care settings. This structured observational study will focus on the moment to moment interactions occurring within the preschool classroom between both the child and teacher. It is predicted that (1) teacher’s direct bids to children will promote greater instances of child compliance than indirect bids, and (2) teachers’ responsive language will promote greater instances of child compliance than restrictive language. The results of this study will contribute to existing knowledge about the nature of teacher child interactions in the early care settings.

This literature review explores the importance of patterning in early math education. Patterning skills are a unique predictor of future success in mathematics. With the Common Core not addressing patterning as a standard in early math education, many educators have come to believe that the importance of patterning is not significant. However, past and present research studies have yielded convincing results that demonstrate the importance of including patterning in early math curriculums. Incorporating patterning into young students' math experiences requires several specific instructional strategies to optimize the benefits of learning patterning skills.

The purpose of this action research project is to show that gains in literacy skills through implementation of guided reading practices at the preschool level, if successful, prove that guided reading instruction is a meaningful and purposeful practice in teaching literacy skills at the early childhood level. The researcher worked with 47 preschool children ages four and five. Participants attended a state-funded preschool program in an elementary school building. An alphabet literacy skills pre-test was given. A writing sample of the participant' s names, with no visual reference, was obtained. The purpose of this research study, which employed a quantitative research design, was to determine if there was a difference in the grades achieved by students who were enrolled in an entry-level Foundations of Education course using Open Educational Resources (OER) versus the grades achieved by students who used textbooks in other course sections. The goal was to find out whether OER was of the same or higher quality as textbooks in our minority-serving higher education institution. Tujuan kajian ini adalah menentukan hubungan antara status sosioekonomi ibu bapa dengan enam dimensi penglibatan ibu bapa seterusnya hubungan antara dimensi penglibatan ibu bapa tersebut dengan tiga jenis tingkah laku prososial kanak-kanak empat tahun. The study aimed to use an alternative method of assessing client outcomes, and service performance by using the outcome measure—Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation (CORE-OM). Presently, the counselling psychology unit assesses the clients' outcomes by subjective observations and clients' self-reports. As for service performance, the counselling psychology units are assessed internally by each hospital's management system. In advanced countries, these methods have been replaced or augmented by standardised routine outcome measures.
