The paper draws upon a year-long practitioner inquiry with adolescents who conducted auto-ethnographies as part of a research course in their urban public high school. Through ethnographic data collection, youth researched their own lives, cultures, and beliefs with the end goal of producing multimodal films that represented their embodied senses of ‘‘Where I’m From’’, broadly defined. As youth collected and interpreted culturally and personally meaningful artifacts, stories, memories, and family discourses, the cosmopolitan habits of mind and heart that it is argued are important for nurturing reflective citizens of the world. The Opinions Of Education Professionals On The Common Core State Standards, Katina Henderson

This project examined the beliefs of education professionals about the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Using an internet survey comprised of 21 questions, 13 of which were specific to beliefs about the CCSS, the project reports on the perceptions of between 48 and 52 education professionals as to their opinions about whether the CCSS will create college and/or workforce ready high school graduates.

While research supports the integration of mobile computing into instruction, there is disagreement concerning the unstructured use of mobile devices in lecture-based college classrooms. Research supports the argument that unstructured use creates distraction and decreased academic performance. Research also suggests that unstructured use actually supports lecture instruction through personalized learning situations. In either case, the motivations of students to use mobile device is often unclear. This study sought to investigate the motivations for students’ acceptance of mobile devices.
