The Spring 2022 issue contains writings divided into five categories: ecosystems, homes, archaeologies, explorations, and new constructions. Writings touch on urban ecology, wilderness, physical and mental health, identity, and other topics. Visual work is also present in this issue.

his paper reports the findings of a study on the utilisation of questions by lecturers in facilitating teaching and learning during lectures at the University of Dar es Salaam. Three objectives guided the study: (i) identifying the types of questions that lecturers use to facilitate teaching and learning; (ii) establishing the pattern of lecturers’ use of questions; and (iii) determining why lecturers use questions as a discourse strategy to convey information at a sophisticated level of academic rhetoric to facilitate knowledge delivery. This paper explores the perceived barriers to learning among rural-based female students studying through open and distance learning (ODL) mode in Tanzania. Specifically, it seeks to determine the perceived barriers hindering rural-based female students from active learning. A qualitative research approach informed the study using a single case study research design. Purposive and convenience sampling procedures were used to obtain 20 participants. Data was generated through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and documentary reviews; and was analysed thematically. The objective of this study is to look at learning indicators and contextualize extrinsic and intrinsic components in three Indonesian language textbooks for elementary school students. This study employs a qualitative research approach with a content analysis design to attain this purpose. The findings show that textbooks only use one learning indicator for each short story, although intrinsic (themes, characters, and messages) and extrinsic (social values, moral values, cultural values, and religious values) elements have been effectively balanced in the story. short. This case study aims to find out how teachers of the International Class Program at an elementary school in Malang incorporated critical thinking (CT) pedagogy in teaching subjects with English as a Medium of Instruction. Eighteen teachers filled in an online questionnaire, and two of them were interviewed. In 2019, there were 63.022 learners of Indonesian as a foreign language in Victorian schools, Australia. They were facilitated by 263 Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) local teachers. Due to a shortage of BIPA local teachers, the Department of Education and Training Victoria had recruited language assistants from Indonesia. This study is aimed to describe the required skillsets of BIPA language assistants to support their duties. The data were collected through interviews, an inventory, observations, and stories of eight Indonesian language assistants with one year of experience. Gatholoco is a figure in Serat Gatholoco, a literary work suspected to be written in the early 19th century. The Gatholoco character is said to have a constellation of desires that presents subversive symptoms, positioning Serat Gatholoco as a controversial text at that time. The aim of this study is to describe the constellation of desires in Serat Gatholoco translation from Damar Shashangka, using the economics perspective of the Lacanian subject. This article examines the editorials in Koran Tempo and Kompas in representing their ideology of COVID-19 handling in Indonesia. This linguistic research is conducted qualitative­ly. The data were in the form of Indonesian-language editorial discourse, which discussed the COVID-19 handling in Indonesia. The written research data were taken from national news­papers, namely Koran Tempo and Kompas, and were obtained through the use of listening and note-taking techniques. They were then analyzed using Van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis model. POD partnered with Onward We Learn (formerly known as College Crusade) to provide unique and engaging virtual summer workshop experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this online workshop, students were given daily photo challenges to create portraits and still life photographs. They found textures, shapes, colors, numbers, and letters through photographic explorations of their familiar surroundings. In doing so, students created an individual photo journal over the week.
