Athletic Training Students Demonstrate Supplemental Oxygen Administration Skill Decay, But Retain Knowledge Over Six Months, David C. Berry, Jennifer K. Popp

Purpose: Research suggests skill decay occurs with emergency skills, such as supplemental oxygen administration (OA), since the frequency of medical emergencies in clinical settings is low. Identifying the presence and timeline for skill decay allows educators to employ strategies to prevent this occurrence. Therefore, this study evaluated retention of knowledge and clinical skills associated with supplemental oxygen administration, specifically nasal cannula (NC) and non-rebreather mask (NrM) usage in professional athletic training students.

Methods: Cross-sectional study. Twenty-nine athletic training students (males=11, females=18; age=21.03+1.38) enrolled in a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)-accredited professional athletic training programs. Participants’ …

Evidence-based practice enables rehabilitation therapists to provide the best quality of care and outcomes for patients. However, rehabilitation therapists are often not confident in using evidence in many settings.

Purpose. The objective of this evidence-based practice project was to determine if educational small group sessions enhanced occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and a speech and language pathologist’s confidence in utilizing and applying evidence.

When global rankings first appeared in 2003, rankings in general were little known despite the fact that collecting statistical information on individual academic institutions had begun by the U.S. Bureau of Education in the late 19th century (Snyder, 1993). The literature suggests that student attrition at the university level has been of growing concern in many countries. Student attrition has a number of implications for universities, chief amongst them are losses to revenue and investment in higher education. Analyses of wildlife strike data from 2000 through 2016 indicate that for the general aviation (GA) community, the number and rate of damaging strikes has increased both at and outside the airport environment. Pilots play an important role in the accident prevention process due to wildlife, ranging from reporting strikes to using appropriate aircraft operating techniques to mitigate the risk of strikes. A local government in South Florida launched a training program to improve employee engagement on climate change using best practices in adult learning and climate communication to bridge the gap between climate science and action in government operations. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อจัดกระบวนการจัดการศึกษานอกระบบโรงเรียนโดย ใช้ภูมิปัญญาพื้นบ้านเป็นฐานที่มีต่อความความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้สูงอายุและเยาวชน 2) เพื่อศึกษา ผลของกระบวนการจัดการศึกษานอกระบบโรงเรียนโดยใช้ภูมิปัญญาพื้นบ้านเป็นฐานที่มีต่อ ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้สูงอายุและเยาวชน ซึ่งเป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ประกอบด้วย ผู้สูงอายุ จำนวน 3 คน และเยาวชนจำนวน 10 คน ในอำเภอ ชนบท จังหวัด ขอนแก่น ที่สนใจภูมิปัญญา พื้นบ้านการทำผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ร่วมกันโดยใช้กระบวนการ Andragogy ของ Knowles (1980) แบ่ง ออกเป็น 3 ระยะ ได้แก่ ระยะที่ 1 การสร้างบรรยากาศการจัดสภาพแวดล้อมระหว่างผู้สูงอายุและ เยาวชน ระยะที่ 2 การหาความต้องการและเป้าหมายร่วมกันระหว่างผู้สูงอายุและเยาวชน ระยะ ที่ 3 การวางแผนดำเนินกิจกรรมและการประเมินผลภูมิปัญญาพื้นบ้าน สำหรับเครื่องมือที่ใช้ รวบรวมข้อมูลคือแบบบันทึกกิจกรรมแบบสังเกตและแบบสัมภาษณ์ สำหรับการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้ การวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา (Content Analysis) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. ผู้สูงอายุและเยาวชนได้ทำ กิจกรรมภูมิปัญญาพื้นบ้านการทำผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ร่วมกัน ตั้งแต่การสร้างบรรยากาศและการจัด สภาพแวดล้อมทางกายภาพในการเรียนรู้ระหว่างกัน อีกทั้งได้ร่วมกันหาเป้าหมายวางแผนออกแบบ ดำเนินกิจกรรมและวัดประเมินผลการทำผ้าไหมร่วมกัน 2. หลังจากผู้สูงอายุและเยาวชนได้ทำ กิจกรรมภูมิปัญญาพื้นบ้านการทำผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ร่วมกันได้เกิดความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้สูงอายุและ เยาวชนซึ่งประกอบไปด้วย 1) การสื่อสารเพื่อรับฟังความคิดเห็นระหว่างกัน 2) การช่วยเหลือซึ่งกัน และกัน 3) การให้โอกาสเชื่อใจในการทำงานระหว่างกัน 4) การแสดงความจริงใจและชื่นชนยินดี ระหว่างกัน 5) การยอมรับลักษณะเฉพาะบุคคลระหว่างกัน
