JOHNSON CITY (April 13, 2020) – East Tennessee State University’s Tipton Gallery and Slocumb Galleries have earned two awards in the 2020 Tennessee Association of Museums (TAM) Awards of Excellence competition for a series of exhibits highlighting diversity.

The honors, which were presented in the budget category of $50,000-$200,000, were the Award of Excellence for Temporary Exhibit and the Award of Commendation for Publication, Book/Catalog/Annual Report.

JOHNSON CITY (April 9, 2020) – East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy has ranked first in the state for its Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency match rate, as well as 12^th in the nation.

In total, nearly of half of the Class of 2020, 32 students, participated in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) match program for PGY1 positions, and 25 (78%) successfully matched.

JOHNSON CITY (April 9, 2020) – East Tennessee State University paleontologists Dr. Blaine Schubert and David Moscato will host a new weekly virtual series, “Paleo Talks,” to engage students and the community during the COVID-19 quarantine.

We consider a firm consisting of two divisions, one responsible for designing and manufacturing new products and the other responsible for remanufacturing operations. The firm will sell these new and remanufactured products either directly to the consumer (direct selling) or through an independent retailer (indirect selling). Our study demonstrates that a firm’s organizational structure can affect its marketing decisions. Specifically, a decentralized firm with separate manufacturing and remanufacturing divisions can benefit from indirect selling with higher firm profit, supply chain profit, and total consumer demand than direct selling. JOHNSON CITY (April 8, 2020) – East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy is producing hand sanitizer to help ETSU Health clinics and first responders curb shortages and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

With the local need identified, Dr. Charles Collins, professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, immediately went to work in the pharmacy school’s compounding lab producing the hand sanitizer.

Recent research to analyze and discuss cultural differences has employed a combination of five major dimensions of individualism–collectivism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, femininity– masculinity (gender role differentiation), and long-term orientation. Among these dimensions, individualism–collectivism has received the most attention. Chronologically, this cultural attribute has been regarded as one, then two, and more recently, four dimensions of horizontal and vertical individualism and collectivism. However, research on this issue has not been conclusive and some have argued against this expansion. JOHNSON CITY (April 2, 2020) – The Gray Fossil Site in Gray, Tennessee, is famous for preserving the remains of a 5-million-year-old Appalachian ecosystem. Not only do these fossils include a variety of ancient animals like rhinos, mastodons and pandas, they also include a forest’s worth of ancient plants. And that list of plants is now a bit longer thanks to a pair of recent studies identifying two extinct Gray Fossil Site plant species that are entirely new to science.

JOHNSON CITY (April 2, 2020) — During a called meeting of East Tennessee State University’s Board of Trustees Finance and Administration Committee on Wednesday, a motion was passed to not increase tuition and mandatory fees for the 2020-21 academic year contingent on the approval of the Governor’s budget.
