JOHNSON CITY – (April 22, 2020) Future teachers in the Clemmer College at East Tennessee State University are staffing a “Homework Hotline” for school districts across the Northeast Tennessee region, from Sevierville to Mountain City.
Nearly 50 current undergraduates enrolled in one of ETSU’s teacher preparation programs have volunteered to be available to assist local K-12 students who are now learning from home as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

JOHNSON CITY (April 22, 2020) – The COVID-19 crisis is creating unprecedented work experience for several East Tennessee State University social work students who are helping their fellow students with challenges related to the pandemic.
Every year, ETSU provides three graduate assistantships to Master of Social Work students who are interested in serving as either Undergraduate or Graduate Student Success Specialists (USSS or GSSS). Their day-to-day responsibilities include assisting students with managing obstacles, resolving problems and finding support, locating services on campus and in the community and setting realistic personal goals.

JOHNSON CITY (April 21, 2020) – Emma Tobias, a junior in East Tennessee State University’s Dental Hygiene Program, was selected as the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) District VI Delegate.
As the delegate, she will represent dental hygiene students from Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi at the ADHA’s National Conference, currently planned for June 12-14 in New Orleans.

The university recently approved a new 3+1 degree completion program for biology and chemistry majors in the College of Arts and Sciences and health sciences majors in the College of Public Health.

Research consultations are a valuable service offered by academic libraries for students who are able to visit the library, however, many students enrolled in online degree programs or considering enrollment have limited access to campus services. We designed and tested a virtual reference consultation service for distance learners and graduate students. This interactive poster outlines a practical approach for designing and initiating a virtual research consultation service to offer equitable access to library services and a positive user experience for distance learners.

Students choose one or two programs to study – Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator and/or After Effects – and then take the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) exam.
