Transport Manager Responsibilities And Risk Based Insurance Analysis, Ivana Simkova

This thesis addresses the issue of the responsibility of the transport manager. The transport manager´s conditions which have to be respected during his/ her work are analyzed. The transport manager is responsible for the decisions made during the whole transportation process. Individual decisions are evaluated and a probabilistic estimate of their importance is determined. A methodology for insurance for the transport manager is proposed.

In a 2010 report, the Oregon Legislature-created Oregon Global Warming Commission (OGWC) stated "with confidence" that human activities were primarily responsible for a 1.5 degree Fahrenheit increase in 20th century temperatures in the Pacific Northwest. Transportation and electricity were responsible for about 70 percent of Oregon's greenhouse gas emissions during the 2003-2007 period of study, while agriculture, waste, combustion, leakage, and other sources were responsible for the balance of emissions. Since the 1980s, homelessness has become an increasingly visible and seemingly intransigent part of American society. It affects not only those who experience it directly, as a condition in their own lives, but also a broad spectrum of interests that deal with its effects. One such interest is owners and managers of public land, where homeless individuals commonly seek refuge, sometimes forming communities. The foreclosure crisis hit Cuyahoga County earlier and harder than the rest of the nation. The crisis continues to weaken the County’s already weak housing market, as evidenced by declining property values, increasing numbers of vacant and abandoned properties and the continuing high rates of foreclosure filings. In 1999, there were 4,900 residential foreclosure filings in Cuyahoga County. That number doubled to about 10,000 by 2005 and peaked in 2007 at close to 14,000. In 2011, the County had just over 11,000 residential foreclosure filings. In total, an estimated 68,000 homes in the County have been “touched” by foreclosure. The …

Toward an Age-Friendly Portland connects the people-friendly efforts of the Portland Plan with input and specific needs expressed by older Portlanders to create a vision for what people want their neighborhoods to be like as they grow older. This vision informs recommendations that may be integrated into Portland’s planning efforts. Orca Planning found that the needs of older adults now and in the future are not adequately met by the transportation, housing and greenspace options available in today’s Portland. The Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail (PMLR) line will open in 2015 and bring change to the Brooklyn neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The Imagine Holgate project engaged the public in a visioning process to learn the community aspirations for future transit-oriented development in the Station Area around the southeast 17th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard Station on the PMLR line. Over the last decade, there has been a surge in bicycle and pedestrian use in communities that have invested in active transportation infrastruc-ture and programming. While these increases show potentially promising trends, many of the cities that have shown the highest growth are geo-graphically concentrated in the northern tier of the country. Advent of real-time information broadcasting technologies, growth in demand for air-cargo, and increased congestion and variability on air-road network, are the main forces compelling today's air-freight forwarders to improve their operational decision-making to be more competitive and responsive to needs of customers. This research studies the air-cargo transportation on both road (short-haul) and air (long haul) network from the perspective of a mid-size freight forwarder.
