As a Kenya migrant who has observed leaders of migrant organizations play a great role both in country of origin and their host, I was motivated to undertake this study to find out the approaches migrant leaders use to connect to their country of origin. This study aimed to review literature on small migrant nonprofit organizations with emphasis on Kenyan registered migrant nonprofit organizations in Minnesota. This project explores the role the creative process and art making can have in emotional healing and briefly describes connections among the affective skills of Creative Problem Solving and art making. Essentially a self-study taking place over five months, this project focuses on how the author, by developing mindful practice and behavior, used visual journaling, blogging, drawing and painting as methods of discovering her own creative process and how that process aided in emotional transformation leading toward greater self-actualization and artistic identity. Specifically, this exploratory research seeks a better understanding of disruption of business transformation and some of the factors that are likely to impact the transformation process at the military strategic command level. Increasingly, more women are attending college and earning their degrees than men. This qualitative case study examined the reasons why adult females decide to enroll in college to earn their bachelor’s degree. With multiple roles and responsibilities creating time constraints that stack the odds against the completion of their degree, many women experience delays as well as starts and stops in their educational journey over many years. Enrollment for CMCC has grown impressively over the last eleven years, since transitioning from a Technical College. While enrollment has increased, retaining students through graduation (persistence) is still an area of concern, particularly because its service area still has some of the lowest percentages of adults with college credentials in Maine.

Cooperative education programming as a model of teaching to varied learning styles, is based on a small scale school working to teach children to their specific learning styles centered around their brain function strengths and limitations. The Greenwood School is a boarding school located in Putney, VT specializing in teaching boys with academic, social, and behavioral differences. The school caters to about fifty boys from ages ten to eighteen. Leading Mindfully: Two Studies Of The Influence Of Supervisor Trait Mindfulness On Employee Well-Being And Performance, Jochen Reb, Jayanth Narayanan, Sankalp Chaturvedi

This research examines the influence of leaders’ mindfulness on employee well-being and performance. We hypothesized that supervisors’ trait mindfulness is positively associated with different facets of employee well-being, such as job satisfaction and need satisfaction, and different dimensions of employee performance, such as in-role performance and organizational citizenship behaviors. We also explored whether one measure of employee well-being, psychological need satisfaction, plays a mediating role in the relation between supervisor mindfulness and employee performance. We tested these predictions in two studies using data from both supervisors and their subordinates. Results were consistent with our hypotheses. Overall, this research contributes to …

Identities, Intentionality And Institutional Fit: Perceptions Of Senior Women Administrators At Liberal Arts Colleges In The Upper Midwestern Usa, Kathryn A. E. Enke

This qualitative study engaged women senior administrators at liberal arts colleges in the Upper Midwestern USA to better understand how their intersecting identities mediate their enacted leadership. Data were collected from eight participants via a questionnaire, document review, one-on-one interviews and observations. Positionality theory informed the study design and inquiry. Data analysis using the constant comparative method revealed that women leaders' positionality is intentionally monitored and constantly negotiated in the liberal arts college context. Participants described that they had to be more intentional about revealing or displaying traits associated with those identities that did not fit their institutional environment. This …

Collective Begging At Its Best: Labor-Management Relations In South Dakota, Gary Aguiar

Public employee labor unions in South Dakota possess a feeble set of bargaining rights, so weak it should be considered “collective begging.” However, our recent contract contains significant victories despite decades of playing defense. What lessons can be learned from this experience that might help other similarly situated faculty unions? What does this case study teach us about the disparity of power, especially where labor has fewer legal and political tools than management? I apply DiGiovanni’s (2011) typology of “intangible influences” on collective bargaining to explain our success. As DiGiovanni predicts, history and timing played a large role in influencing …
