Dry Needling And Hamstring Strains In Collegiate Baseball Players, Christ Clary 2019 Gardner-Webb University

Dry Needling And Hamstring Strains In Collegiate Baseball Players, Christ Clary

EXSI 432/532: Research Methods in Exercise Science: Research Proposal Posters

Hamstring strain injuries (HSIs) are extremely prevalent injuries in the collegiate baseball setting. HSIs require plentiful rest and rehabilitation to regain the normal functions of the injured leg meaning athletes will not be able to participate in competition. Time loss from sport has negative effects on the injured athlete and their team. For these reasons, it is important that athletes receive the best possible treatment to get them back on the field as quickly and safely as possible. Eccentric strength training has been shown to be the most effective rehabilitation and injury prevention measure for HSIs. Eccentric training is often …

EXSI 432/532: Research Methods in Exercise Science: Research Proposal Posters

Thus, the purpose of this study was to determine the differences in oxygen uptake between arm and leg ergometry, independent of gender and age. It was hypothesized that arm ergometry will display a higher oxygen uptake, heart rate, and RPE values than leg ergometry.

The Effects Of Carrying Loads On Lower Extremities Within Military Personnel, Austin Billiot 2019 Gardner-Webb University

The Effects Of Carrying Loads On Lower Extremities Within Military Personnel, Austin Billiot

EXSI 432/532: Research Methods in Exercise Science: Research Proposal Posters

Carrying loads is essentially learned through nurture and the environment you live in. Humans at one point in their lives utilize this method of carrying loads to achieve a specific task. Military service personnel make use of this method quite often in their daily work environment. Military personnel are accustomed with being injured and the recovery process which follows. All studies reviewed, revealed that there is a correlation between lower extremity problems and load carrying force. This research was done on military service members to find the exact motion that load becomes an issue for basic movement (walking, jogging, and …

The Effects Of Distance Running On Idiopathic Hypertension In Middle-Aged Sedentary Males, Courtney Kanetzke

EXSI 432/532: Research Methods in Exercise Science: Research Proposal Posters

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of distance running on sedentary middle-aged adults with idiopathic hypertension through quantitative, objective measurements. It is hypothesized that the 5000-meter participants would have the greatest reductions in blood pressure due to evidence that more aerobic activity has a high correlation with decreased blood pressure in hypertensive individuals.

Career Pathway Through Exercise Science, Renee Cloeter

Honors Projects

College students have many choices for choosing a major that will lead to a profession or post-graduate school following graduation with a Bachelor’s or Associates degree. For many, making this decision can be daunting and time-consuming as it is important to select the right major for future endeavors. Several students change majors multiple times throughout the course of their college careers causing them to remain in school for an extended period of time to complete graduation. Researching and analyzing potential majors as a new student is a part of the process, but some students may skip this step as there …
