Triple triumph: Three women in medicine is the story of three physicians.

Three physicians, all women, each perceived serious unmet needs in their fields, and envisioned imaginative approaches to meeting those needs. Each encountered resistance, discouragement, and obstruction from the traditional, male-dominated departments in which they worked. These powerful pioneers, undeterred, created programs that earned the highest levels of national distinction and acclaim. Their work and their names are now legendary—in geriatric medicine, in the treatment of breast cancer, and in diabetes research and treatment. Assisted suicide is when a physician helps a terminally ill patient die without pain. As of right now, it is illegal in most states. Organizations about this issue were organized in the late 1930's (Humphry). According to Pro-Con. Org, 79% of patients requested assisted suicide even before they came terminally ill –if it got to that point.

Cultural Perspectives in Public Health: An International Education Program for Medical Students proposes a six-week international mobility course for medical students at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The course design was inspired by a request from the UCSC medical student cohort to expand credit-bearing international program opportunities. The program will introduce participants to Kolb’s (1984) experiential learning cycle in an effort to provide students with a framework to use when evaluating common practices in the medical field. This study examined variables related to the doctor-patient interaction that can predict college students’ trust in their physicians. Specifically, I examined if five personality variables, ethnicity, and gender were associated with attitudes toward physicians. A second aim of the study was to determine if there was a difference in the level of trust in physicians between pre-medical and non-pre-medical students. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) aimed to increase accessibility to medical resources for those previously uninsured. Certainly, the ACA has expanded insurance to millions of Americans, however, the evidence and discourse surrounding health accessibility calls into question why, despite the growth of insured Americans, the increase in health insurance coverage under the ACA has not lead to greater accessibility for low income minorities. I propose that disparities in preventive care, the emergency room, and primary care provider services stand as barriers for low income minorities.
