Transcriptional determinants in the skeletal muscle that govern exercise capacity, while poorly defined, could provide molecular insights into how exercise improves fitness. Here, we have elucidated the role of nuclear receptors, estrogen-related receptor alpha and gamma (ERRα/γ) in regulating myofibrillar composition, contractility, and exercise capacity in skeletal muscle. We used muscle-specific single or double (DKO) ERRα/γ knockout mice to investigate the effect of ERRα/γ deletion on muscle and exercise parameters. Individual knockout of ERRα/γ did not have a significant impact on the skeletal muscle. On the other hand, DKO mice exhibit pale muscles compared to wild-type (WT) littermates. RNA-seq analysis …

Background: Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO) is a rare aseptic autoinflammatory disease with a wide and vague clinical presentation that often mimics infection, malignancy, or benign conditions, leading to a delayed diagnosis. We aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics, differential diagnoses from evaluating pediatric orthopaedic surgeons, and compared the number of patients that could have avoided a biopsy in 80 patients with CRMO.

Introduction: Paraspinal Compartment Syndrome (PCS) is a well-documented complication after trauma and orthopedic injuries though incidence of atraumatic PCS in individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) is not well documented. We present a case of a middle-aged man with acute PCS after intravenous (IV) amphetamine use.

Case Description: 40-years-old male with a history of substance use disorder was brought in for evaluation after being found wandering naked in the streets. Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the second metatarsal is a debilitating condition characterized by the loss of blood supply to the bone, leading to cellular death and potential collapse of the affected metatarsal head. This study presents a comprehensive review of contemporary literature to elucidate the spectrum of treatment options available for managing AVN of the second metatarsal.

The objective was to describe pain characteristics and treatments used in individuals with varying severity of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) and investigate pain-associated variables. This work was derived from a multicenter, longitudinal, observational, natural history study of OI conducted at 12 clinical sites of the NIH Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network's Brittle Bone Disorders Consortium. Children and adults with a clinical, biochemical, or molecular diagnosis of OI were enrolled in the study. Osteoarticular tuberculosis (OAT) is a bone degenerative disease that results in bone erosion, joint effusion, joint swelling, and sometimes, nerve compression. OAT occurs from the hematogenous dissemination of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) bacilli spreading from the primary site of infection to the bones and joints; the primary site of infection tends to be the lungs as pulmonary tuberculosis infections are the most common. OAT can occur as the result of an active or latent infection. Latent infections result in OAT when bacilli are able to escape granulomas. The incidence of OAT is not as high as pulmonary infections, making up about …
