Abstract Background: Articular cartilage pathology can stem from a spectrum of etiologies including osteochondritis dissecans, avascular necrosis, degenerative joint disease, and injury resulting from recurrent instability of the patella.

Hypothesis/Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify differences in clinical and functional outcomes in patients treated with either ACI or OCA transplantation for chondral defects with concomitant MPFL reconstruction and tibia tubercle osteotomy.

Low back pain and posterior pelvic pain are of high incidence experienced in pregnant persons.2 Prevention strategies are necessary to improve maternal health outcomes in the United States. The side effect profile seen, including a positive digoxin level, are consistent with hawthorn root. This case reinforces the importance of asking a patient about all medications, including over the internet medications.

New approaches are needed to treat this condition. Sialic acid modifications on chondrocyte receptors have been associated with arthritic inflammation and joint destruction. The transmembrane mucin receptor protein podoplanin (PDPN) has been identified as a functionally relevant receptor that presents extracellular sialic acid motifs. Here we present the case of a 37-year-old male with a finger injury in which finger dislocation was suspected clinically. A bedside pocket ultrasound was performed using a water submersion technique, which identified a posterior dislocated right 2nd digit at the PIP joint. This finding was confirmed with an x-ray. This case report demonstrates that ultrasonography can be utilized to correctly identify finger dislocation. Although larger studies need to be performed to validate the accuracy of this imaging technique, the implications may improve care of the patient. When looking at pitchers specifically, higher performance at the amateur level may be associated with increased frequency of adaptive change in the throwing elbow.

Background: The ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) is put under high levels of stress through the overhead throwing motion typical of professional baseball pitchers. In response to repetitive stress the UCL undergoes adaptive changes including thickening of the ligament and increased joint laxity under valgus stress. Studies examining the adaptive changes in the elbows of professional pitchers over multiple seasons are limited. Investigations such as this one offer insight into the changes in the UCL of professional pitchers over multiple years of professional play as well as the risk for injuries that may be associated with these changes.

Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1, DM1, is a multi-systemic muscle wasting disorder that results from expression of expanded CTG repeats in the DMPK gene in humans. Three transgenic Drosophila melanogaster lines have been created containing 60, 250, or 480 CTG repeats to model DM1. The transgenic repeats are expressed using the GAL4/UAS system. Expression of long-repeat transgenes ((CTG)₂₅₀ and i(CTG)₄₈₀) produces phenotypes consistent with DM1, relative to control lines ((CTG)₆₀). Surgical treatment of pelvic sarcoma involving the bone is the standard of care but is associated with several sequelae and reduced functional quality of life (QOL). Treatment with photon and proton radiotherapy is associated with relapse. Carbon ion radiotherapy (CIRT) may reduce both relapse rates and treatment sequelae. The PROSPER study is a tricontinental, nonrandomized, prospective, three-arm, pragmatic trial evaluating treatments of pelvic sarcoma involving the bone. BACKGROUND: Driving may be adversely affected by any movement disorder, but has been mostly studied in Parkinson's disease (PD). Few studies have addressed driving impairment in patients with Huntington's disease (HD); driving in other movement disorders such as dystonia, blepharospasm and Tourette syndrome (TS) has not been adequately evaluated.

Lipomatosis of nerve is a benign lesion with increased fibrofatty tissue infiltrating and surrounding nerves, usually occurring in children and young adults as a slowly progressive swelling or mass, which can clinically mimic a tumor or malignancy. Here we report a 59-year-old man who presented with pain in his right foot and a mass that has been mostly stable for years, but which seems to have grown slightly of late, and is clinically suspicious for ganglion cyst. The MRI revealed a fatty mass concerning for lipoma or atypical lipomatous tumor. Consequently, the patient underwent excisional biopsy. The H&E sections showed …

Background: The extent to which hemoglobinopathies other than sickle anemia (HbSS) are associated with hip osteonecrosis is unknown. Sickle cell trait (HbS), hemoglobin SC (HbSC), and sickle/β-thalassemia (HbSβTh) may also predispose to osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). Objective: To investigate the rate of decline in forced vital capacity (FVC), and the effect of nintedanib on the rate of decline in FVC, in subjects with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD) who had risk factors for rapid decline in FVC.

Methods: The SENSCIS trial enrolled subjects with SSc and fibrotic ILD of ≥10% extent on high-resolution CT. The rate of decline in FVC over 52 weeks was analysed in all subjects and in those with early SSc (< 18 months since first non-Raynaud symptom), elevated inflammatory markers (C reactive protein ≥6 mg/L and/or platelets ≥330×109/L) or significant skin fibrosis (modified Rodnan skin score (mRSS) 15-40 or mRSS ≥18) at baseline.

Results: In the placebo group, the rate of decline in FVC was numerically greater in subjects with < 18 months since first non-Raynaud symptom (-167.8 mL/year), elevated inflammatory markers (-100.7 mL/year), mRSS 15-40 (-121.7 mL/year) or mRSS ≥18 (-131.7 mL/year) than in all subjects (-93.3 mL/year). Nintedanib reduced the rate of FVC decline across subgroups, with a numerically greater effect in patients with these risk factors for rapid FVC decline.
