Hospital readmissions are a persistent quality and cost burden to the healthcare system, prompting evaluation of modern strategies to strengthen transitional care. This integrative review synthesized findings from thirteen studies published between 2011 and 2025 to assess the effectiveness of virtual discharge interventions in reducing readmission rates among adult patients. Virtual discharge interventions included programs utilizing technology, such as phone calls, video visits, apps, or remote monitoring, to help patients understand their care and improve positive outcomes. Many of these studies showed that virtual support can reduce hospital readmissions, especially for people with heart failure. Some programs also improved patients’ …

Introduction: This study sought to assess how graduates of Wallace Community College's paramedic program impacted their readiness for the NREMT Paramedic examination and entering the workforce, specifically comparing those who completed an associate degree to those who completed the certificate program. Methods: This qualitative study analyzed the perspectives of graduates from the paramedic program using a phenomenological approach. Using a purposive sampling technique, nine graduates were chosen for one-on-one interviews, and six were selected for a focus group. Statins are widely used lipid-lowering agents that significantly reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality through inhibition of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. Beyond their cholesterol-lowering properties, increasing evidence demonstrates that statins exert several pleiotropic effects independent of lipid reduction. These effects include anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic, and anti-proliferative actions mediated primarily through inhibition of the mevalonate pathway and downstream signaling molecules such as Rho, Rac, and Ras. Experimental and clinical studies have suggested potential benefits of statins in various non-cardiovascular conditions, including autoimmune diseases, venous thromboembolism, sepsis-associated coagulopathy, and certain malignancies. Despite the recognized importance of early detection, disparities in mammography access persist among low-income women in the United States. While financial barriers are often emphasized, less is known about how multiple barriers interact to shape access to screening. We conducted a scoping review following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines to synthesize evidence on barriers to mammography access among low-income women in the United States. Abstract

Background: Earning full-time credit loads and persisting are how college students successfully graduate.

Objective: We measured whether credits and persistence at an urban, commuter Hispanic/Minority-Sserving Iinstitution improved after implementing a social work-based advisement strategy.

Methods: Using a quasi-experimental methodology on a college’s enrollment database, we measured the impact of a new advisement model on earned and attempted credit loads to compare traditional student advisement within control groups (n = 171 and n = 899) relative to intervention (n = 130).

Findings: In 2024, the intervention group attempted an average of 14.7 credits and earned an average of 14.3 credits, …

Materials and methods: The sample included 12 male MMA fighters divided into a control (19.50±0.50 years) and an experimental (18.00±1.00 years) group. Participants trained twice weekly for 8 weeks, with BFR in the experimental group. Counter-stimulation techniques such as tapping, pressure, vibration, and tissue shaking are commonly observed in dental practice during administration of local anesthetic nerve blocks. Although not systematically described in the Emergency Medicine literature, individual clinicians may employ tactile counter-stimulation techniques during needle-based procedures. The practice remains under-theorized and under-studied within the Emergency Medicine literature. This brief review synthesizes mechanistic neurobiology—including segmental gate control theory (Melzack & Wall, 1965), descending inhibitory modulation, and attentional salience models—with evidence from dental and needle-procedure research. Introduction: Obesity is a growing concern among transgender individuals, influenced by hormone therapy and social determinants of health. Bariatric surgery is effective, but weight regain is common and understudied in this population. Case: A transgender woman with prior sleeve gastrectomy presented with weight regain despite multiple pharmacologic trials. Her Gender-affirming hormone therapy included estrogen and androgen suppression. Herbularyo, a card game teaching about herbal plants (HPs), was created and evaluated as a viable educational card game based on Tuomisto and Aksela’s criteria. A quasi-experiment was performed on 81 Grade 8 students from a private high school and 50 Grade 11 from a public high school. Independent t-test revealed that the control group (CG) and experimental group (EG) (p=0.386), and EG1 (played ≤5) and EG2 (played >5) (p=0.681) are not comparable with each other. Paired t-test showed EG performed better (p=0.001) than CG (p=0.901) whereas ANCOVA showed that playing Herbularyo improved students’ information retention (p=0.006). EG1 and EG2 …
